The English geological name for a makhtesh is makhtesh or 'erosion cirque'. Craters are formed by the impact of a meteor or volcanic eruption. The Hebrew name is used by geologists to differentiate between the two. Regardless of the incorrect name, the title is redundant using both Makhtesh and crater, in the same description. and where is this place, the Ramon Desert? Even if AP got it wrong, someone at Ynet should have corrected it.
