"Sweetie Pie" - man, the last person to address me in this fashion was my mother (years ago). Hatred: an emotion (as love) that when waging a war is better left on the shelf. Civilians (and often politicians) tend to use these emotions for populist rhetoric but the military can't afford such nonsense. Rational and priorities are at the front. "Obliged to eradicate the vermin": this is straight from the Third Reich (really sorry to have to state such a remark) but if you lie with dogs you usually awake with fleas.
