1. I Suggest They Walk
Susan ,   Raanana   (08.23.11)
If the Haredim are not satisfied with public transportation because it does not meet their strict demands, then I suggest they walk! I, for one will not let Israel turn into another Iran. Susan, Raanana
2. Sometimes
Sagi   (08.23.11)
I am ashamed to be a Jew. This is one of those times.
3. haredit faction.
sjoerd ruurd van der ,   mankindland etc.   (08.23.11)
if i were you i would not be ashamed of my own people. every people has a catagory of good-willing people fortunately. we can remain constructive-critical even to our own people etc., if necesarily.
4. Jewish religious radicalisim can be as bad as muslim one
Rami of nAzareth ,   Israel   (08.23.11)
5. Hard to take this seriously
Israeli grandma   (08.23.11)
If this sort of issue troubles the ultra-Orthodox then they have a lot more problems in their lives than first appears! Perhaps men should ride a male donkey and females a female donkey. End of problem, room for only one passenger at a time.
6. These haredi-hater women will insist on sitting in the back
Dov   (08.23.11)
Wait and see.
7. TBers 1-5, did you read the article?
Besalel ,   Great Neck, NY   (08.23.11)
For a change, the Hareidi faction came off sounding very reasonable and fair. What part of the article has gotten your knickers in a twist? Just goes to prove that some people are just driven by hatred. They see a statement from the Hareidi faction and they automatically assume the worse. Read it again. They are being very reasonable.
8. just how slow is this tram?
tom ,   toronto, canada   (08.23.11)
apparently, this new tram is just barely faster than walking (90 minutes to go 10 km). in fact, it is so slow that the hareidim are planning to organize a minyan onboard! this would almost be funny, if it was a joke...
9. Back of Tram
Purity?   (08.23.11)
How about installing a full-length mech'itzah (divider)? Wouldn't that eliminate the problem of the "unacceptable" co-mingling of the genders? Separate but equal facilities etc. similar to what used to exist in the pro-segregation areas in the US. In a lighter vein, a mikveh on board would help the riders who are on a tight schedule...just a minor suggestion.
10. Sagi, its not like you had any Jewish pride to begin with
Religious Girl ,   Israel   (08.23.11)
So what do you have to be ashamed of?
11. #4 I could say the same thing about Christianity
Jewish Princess   (08.23.11)
The difference is that radical Islam posses more of a security threat than radical Judaism which for the record is an oxymoron because Judaism has proven to be more tolerant, more human, and more rational than Islam and Christianity combined. Your religion was also hijacked by the inquisitors and peasants who burned and massacred my people in the name of your lord.
12. Susanana why you so mad?

Aaron ,   Israel   (08.23.11)
It is very undemocratic of you to say that the wishes of a group that is the majority in the city should not be accommodated in the cities public transportation. Are you a fascist?
17. 7 is right

The al qaida men will sit in the back and their ' Schmattas ' will sit in front. as prescribed in the koran.
23. I'd rather that the haredi men sit in the back of the train
American Sabrah ,   Israel   (08.24.11)
Its better than forcing women and non haredim to the back of the train like they do on buses. I wouldn't want to sit in the back anyways and I try to avoid it as much as possible.Plus I'm more prone to car sickness from sitting in the back so ode to the haredi men for not requiring me to bring a barf bag with me.See? They can't be all that bad.Not all of them are chauvinist pigs.Their actions are very chivalric towards women.

25. Nice Ride. Crowded. A/C Not Effective.
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (08.24.11)
The windows are also not tinted enough so when you sit in the Sun, it's very hot. The trips are slow, for now. Other than that, it is a very pleasant streetcar ride and will be a boon to Jerusalem.
26. And what during the Amida ?
Michel ,   Jerusalem   (08.24.11)

27. 26 Does a plane stop during amida?

If i want to hear prayers [ never happened ] i can go to a synagogue . They have'nt to impose their prayers on me , don't need them .
30. 28 Dear Charles,I think it is time ..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.28.11)
