1. Sure
Tom ,   bsas,argentina   (08.22.11)
Of course. Israel can´t get into a war. That´s what the arabs and HamaSS wants in order to put pressure into Israel for next month at the UN. So the world will say : ohh Look at what Israel is doing to the Fakestinians. Be smart Israel. In any event after Black september(the terrorists DO love September...) nothing will change on the ground. Palestine may be on its UN BID for state, but they will get NOTHING in return if they don´t sit at the negotiation table. Anyway... LONG LIVE ISRAEL.
2. No one is suggesting war
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.22.11)
We are simply suggesting that Israel bomb Gaza out of existence. How hard a concept is that to grasp? Why should a single Jewish individual live in fear or dread because of the actions of an Arab? Why?
3. Gaza
william ,   Canada   (08.22.11)
Israel you are going to have to End this,it cannot be allowed to continue,Shalom.
4. Israel looks after not responding weeker than ever
Tomy ,   Israel   (08.22.11)
This is just a sign for terrorists to do it again and do it more. From "decapitating the enemies" ''being just beginning of response'' and ''very painful response'' we got to the situation that this government is letting terrorists to do what ever they want.1,5 Million Israelis will not sleep, knowing that there is no one to order IDF to go in to Gaza and to eliminate terrorist's there, while Hamas can celebrate the fact that they can do whatever they want as Barak is going to give them impunity with the collaboration of Netanyahu
5. netanyahu must resign !!!
fad egypt   (08.22.11)
israel has made many mistakes and concessions in the last days according to the international forces in sinai the IDF entered egypt to kill the gunmen which led to the fighting between it and the egyptian securtiy which resulted into the killing of the egyptian security personnels israel has become in a diplomatic problem with egypt and there is a price which must be paid in order to contain the problem so israel has agreed to cease fire with the terrorists and hamas has become the one who decides when to attack or not also it is said that israel has agreed in principal that egypt can deploy its forces with heavy weapons at area C or along the border all of these concessions made because of the mistake entering egypt border i know that israel has the right to defend itself and that the gunmen came from egypt and that is egypt responsibility but israel shouldnt ve entered our border because such acts can lead to many problems and i believe that israel has no interest to attack egypt egypt now is different than before , the people have their say and the government tries to satisfy them so israel must be wise in its moves because of that israel lost the chance to enter gaza and bring hamas down and retake the pheladelphe route , to prevent the smuggling of weapons or the transfere of gunmen from gaza to sinai or the opposite shalom
6. Oy Vey
Ron M ,   Tel Aviv / Zion   (08.22.11)
Our astounding Iron Dome is both a smashing success, and at the same time a strategic failure. Now we allow the machinations of our insane Neighbors to dictate our actions. Now we hunker down in a bunker like mentality, and our Defense Minister can say that we are shooting down rockets, instead of actually dealing with our problems. Now we are so desperate, so pushed back on our heels that terrorists dictate life in the State of Israel. Abbas dictates life in the State of Israel. 17 year old Jew haters in Egypt dictate life in Israel. I am a Zionist, an oleh, and I am ashamed.
7. External factors leave 1 option: BIG ISRAEL
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (08.22.11)
8. Good thinking Israel
Maxime ,   ALL ISRAELOAMERICAN   (08.22.11)
For not allowing a bunch of cold blooded terrorist killers to drag Israel into war that might benifit Hamas, syria, hibullah and Iran. Good thinking my beautiful Israel. A good strategic move requires good logics and good timing.
9. SIMPLE CONCLUSION
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (08.22.11)
Political decisions are more important then our citizens, who actually pay a lot of taxes for an army, that is supposed to protect them. Not that this is not something new, from our political incompetents who are clueless about their duties towards us in the first place. This conflict could have been finished years ago by destroying the enemy as an army ii trained to do. But government after government gives in to pressure from the outside, while we pay with our lives and that of our loved ones.
10. Operation Cast Lead 2
Matt   (08.22.11)
It is already planned and on file, the PM could launch it with in minutes. And that is important, to have that capability, the situation is under control. You see it is all perceptions and the truth is that the Israeli Government is very much so in control of events. Perception that it is the terrorists in control and Israel is dancing or weak is not the reality. Gaza is a side show we are going to take down Assad and get Gilad back.
11. Some brain cells remain, kol hakavod
Gazan ,   Palestine   (08.22.11)
enough not to fall in an Iranian trap, the escalation was orchestrated by Iran to draw attention away from their Syrian puppet, the minute Israel steps into Gaza they will open the northern front as if in retaliation but actually to undermine the ArabSpring of Syria
12. Israel is powerful country, overcome this terror.
melissa ,   istanbul   (08.22.11)
There was no law prohibiting organ trafficking in Israel. Israel Kills Palestinian Boys, Steals Organs For Transplants There is a dirty Israeli trade in Palestinian body parts Please say no to this and urge your goverment to stop it.
13. Bravo Tel Aviv , Wise Decision : )
Salma ,   Palestine   (08.22.11)
guys you can not rush into war and you can not rush into peace negotiations , try to rush into beds, I'm sure you can ; )
14. To the Author of the Article
NYC Jew ,   NYC, USA   (08.22.11)
You're affraid to go to war while the cities are unprotected? You can't have 100% protection in any war, rockets are going to fly and some will hit thier targets. If you go to war teh right way you will minimize losses on the Israel's side. What needs to be done is massive artilery bombardment where you take out their goverment centers, infrastructure, etc. Respond with 100 Grad rockets for every one they fire. They go for Bersheva you go for Gaza City. Simple....
15. To #2: War is What it Takes
Ron ,   Boston, USA   (08.22.11)
To #2, much as I share your enthusiasm for bombing "Gaza out of existence", it still takes a ground war to achieve victory. The Allies didn't stop Hitler just by flattening Berlin; The coalition didn't stop Saddam through its bombing; NATO still hasn't stopped Qaddafi through its bombing alone; And most historians agree that nuking two Japanese cities didn't end World War II on their own. As I said in a previous post, once this thing gets started, the only way it's going to end is in Tehran.
16. rushing is foolish, but avoiding is dangerous
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (08.22.11)
The longer Israel waits to stop the attacks in the south, the more belligerent the Arabs become. The more the Israeli government waits, the better armed the Arabs become. Whereas it is foolish to 'run' into a war, it is perhaps more foolish to try to avoid one. The Gaza strip must be cleansed for rockets and rid of the Hamas government. The longer the Israeli government waits the more difficult will be the eventual war.
17. good boys! now u sound exactly like bashar ass-ad
Marwan ,   Tel Aviv, Palestine   (08.22.11)
suck it up and "reserve the right to respond when u see fit" lol
18. typical coward thought
(08.22.11)
19. Attila Somfalvi is Livni's mouthpiece.
Thomas ,   USA   (08.22.11)
Have you noticed the clever diction: "A senior political source told".. Whenever anybody is referring to "anonymous sources said" "unnamed sources told..." you can be sure that that the whole issue is pure fiction, tendentious propaganda with a hidden agenda.. The message is the same what A. Burg had told you: get your Polish passport ready. Meantime study the Imperial Chinese practice of "Death by thousand cuts".
20. booooooooo WAR WAR WAR
Jalal ,   Gaza   (08.22.11)
bla bla bla we need war continuous war will be great isreal cannt live in a continuous peace so let's try a continuous war
21. sorry but this is wacko
E. G. Marsch ,   Nahariya   (08.22.11)
"Once of the issues discussed over the rocket-riddled weekend was the need to acquire more Iron Dome batteries: "Each additional battery means another city that's at lesser risk." I got it. Let's wait and let defenseless cities be shelled until the end of 2013.
22. SOME IDEAS TO CURB HAMAS TRRORISM !!
mark ,   T.a.Israel   (08.22.11)
I SEE THAT WE CAN NOT TURN OFF THE WATER AND ELECTRICITY WE SELL TO THEM MAYBE FOR INTERNATIONAL PRESSURE ! BUT IF FOR EVERY ROCKET THEY FIRE IF WE TURN OFF THE ELECTRICITY ONLY FOR 5 MINUTES ALL THEIR MACHINES FUNCTIONNIG WITH THE ELECTRICITY WILLBE DAMAGED IN THE LONG RUN COMPUTERS WATER PUMPS ETC !! And NOBODY WILL ACCUSE US USING DISPROPORTIONATE FORCE !! LET'S TRY THIS CHEAP BUT EFFICIENT WEAPON !!
23. "We cannot rush into war"
Colonel Yunan Amram ,   Israel   (08.22.11)
War should be very well planned in advance. The last time we rushed into war was in 2006 when we got our ass kicked so hard by Hezbollah that it took the idiot Olmert weeks before he could sit down...
24. Who said anything about war?
Dan ,   NYC USA   (08.22.11)
It's obvious Israel can pick off their leadership and destroy much of their war making capacity from the air without setting foot inside Gaza. Israeli leaders are too weak and don't have the will.
25. I agree with the government and not the hot-heads!
michael redbourn ,   arad israel   (08.22.11)
And I voted for Lieberman twice! And in addition to what's in the article, there is also the request for Palestinian statehood next month.
26. Don't rush, just close the border
They can shop in ,   Egypt   (08.22.11)
27. Govt: "you don't rush into war"
William ,   Israel   (08.22.11)
but why do you constantly rush into slaughter of Israeli civilians by terrorists? Allowing Israelis to get hit by rockets seems to be ok from the higher echelons of the govt.
28. Fine For Right Now, But what About Later?
Dan ,   USA   (08.22.11)
It is good thinking if there is an exit strategy to this thinking. At some point in time as these rocket attacks continue to bleed the country, Israel's leaders must come to the conclusion that there must be a permanent stop to it. If not, Israel will be a foot note in history.
29. Translation: We didn't get Obama's permission to defend Isra
Marcel ,   Florida   (08.22.11)
Maybe next time ?

eric ,   nyc   (08.22.11)
