1. How much did it cost Turkey?
Global Citizen ,   Israel & USA   (08.23.11)
Given how much the tourism minister begged the goverment not to get involved in the 2nd Lebanon War, I'm guessing quite a lot when Israeli tourists boycotted them.
2. Turkey will also be hurt if they sever ties
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (08.23.11)
Stop focusing how much Israel will suffer if they don't "find a formula". That's just code for "Israel must capitulate". Turkey will suffer as well. Their intent is to humiliate Israel; Israel should not give them the satisfaction. And someone please explain to me why Israel is still pursuing defense deals with a country closely aligned with Iran.
3. To #2 Raymond
Rachel ,   US   (08.23.11)
Bingo! Why is Israel selling weapons t a nation allied with Iran. And severing relations will also hurt Turkey. But the choice is their. Stop begging for Turks to be your friend. If they refuse, move on.
4. One door closes another opens.
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.23.11)
5. Against better judgement
David ,   Zichron Yaacov, IL   (08.23.11)
Mr. Lynn, if you base your business on unreliable partners and on the cranky, capricious national honor of backward islamist countries, then your ventures are going to fail anyway.
6. Kick Isalmofascist Turkey out of NATO
Mike ,   Oxford UK   (08.23.11)
7. Relations hot cold with Turkey never change RIGHT ???
M.S. ,   mpls america   (08.24.11)
I realize that the Israeli forces who needed to defend themselfs physicialy had to act as they did it was regretable any loss of life did occur but Turkey is Turkey in 1914 it was called the Ottoman Empire occupyed Israel Palisteine today though Jews Israel have a state at least to a degree although it is not a total independent entity is there such a thing I am sure Israel would apologize but Gaza has caused such a sensitive point since it harbors terrorists who can raid Israel you lost 8 couple days ago Israel lost 8 now we are even does that make Turkey happy no but any way enjoy the chemicials oil distilents your military needs economy needs Israel is a small area of land hardly worth the time price RIGHT and so Syria would probably be just as good a friend for Israel as Turkey RIGHT and so Egypt is mad it lost 6 soldiers not just disidents but soldiers Turkey wins 8 to 6 RIGHT any way have a nice end of August September 2011 Turkey and so eat a lot of Turkey RIGHT ??? Thank You... M. S.
8. cost
erfam ,   istanbul   (08.23.11)
it costs nearly 10 million dolars......
9. TheEconomist
Jack ,   New York - USA   (08.23.11)
Israel will never find a huge economical market like Turkey in his close neighbourhood. There is no second door.
10. Those same exports
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.23.11)
Are in demand around the world. The truth is that we will not lose a single shekel changing to a different trade partner - say Greece or any of a dozen different countries. No this is nonsense. Turkey will be the loser from this, not us.
11. Let's not forget that Erdogan insulted Peres at Davos
(08.23.11)
Turkey was already a lost cause when Erdogan was elected. He decided to change Turkey's strategy, turn his back to the West and join Iran. He has been using Israel as his "entry ticket" to the terrorist states club: Iran, Syria and Hezbollah-controlled Lebanon, not to mention Hamas. So we need not weep for the lost ties with Turkey. Marmara is only a pretext. If it wasn't Marmara, it would've been something else. If your enemy is looking for a fight, it doesn't matter what you do to avoid it, you will have to face it and fight your enemy. Right now, Turkey is the enemy, and I believe that n the long run, the big loser is Turkey, not Israel, and Turkey's loss is not only money.
12. Erdogan murders 100 Kurdish freedom fighters!
(08.23.11)
We don't deal with, or talk to genocidal dictators. Rahat-Lokum, go home! Call us only when you become a civilized and peaceful country again. For as long as you kiss Ahmedinejad's ass and support IHH, Hezbollah and Hamas terrorists, don't even dare look at us. As for terrorizing us diplomatically, watch how we bring the Armenian and Kurdish Genocides to the attention and to the top of the agenda of the UN, Security Council and media. Watch how we expose your ties with the Iranian Republican Guards, and the IHH. Watch how you become another pariah of the Axis of Islamic Evil!
13. Cyprus to the Greeks!

14. Welcome to our world
Bill ,   New York City, USA   (08.23.11)
Get used to this. In the US, there are all sorts of committees of US-Chinese trade, US-Turkish trade etc and the spokesmen are always worrying: what if this or that international development disrupts trade? At least Israel still manufactures stuff. In the meantime, don't count on Turkey having any long-lasting alliance with Iran. If Erdogan really is neo-Ottoman, someone may tell him that the history of Ottoman-Persian relations was not exactly friendly.
15. Murderous Zionist Microscopic Israel is 'Small Potatoes'!
Levo ,   Turkey   (08.24.11)
The Undeclared Terrorist Zionist State already lost the powerhouse Turkey as an ally for good!
16. huggies
melissa ,   istanbul   (08.24.11)
If turkey don't sell diaper to Israel,I can't imagine what a disgusting smell of crap covers over the Israel.
17. To #15 Levo from Turkey
Hanoch ,   Bayside, NY   (08.24.11)
Microscopic Israel? Don't you and the rest of Israel-haters constantly accuse Israel of being a "murderous" empire that is gobbling up Arab land left and right? Well, inadvertently, you've blurted out the truth: Israel is a tiny country that only wishes to be left in peace. You prove the well known wisdom: Muslims respect power. So, Israel should annex Judea and Samaria and take back Sinai. Then Israel will have the respect of the likes of you. I say, Israel go for it!
18. Levo #15 yes we are small potatoes
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.24.11)
We haven't murdered millions of people like you vile Turks. But don't worry you won't be able to do it much longer when we stop supplying your military with equipment because you are too stupid to make your own.
19. Lots of screeching going on
Andrew ,   USA   (08.25.11)
Lots of screeching in the comments. Turks screeching at Israelis. Israelis and Americans screeching back. It makes things worse for everyone. My thought is that Israel should not apologize, but should not make things worse. Allies come and go in the Middle East. Turkey may be back in time.
20. Turkey
Gene Graczyk ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (08.29.11)
There is little needed from Israel in Turkey that could not be readily supplied elsewhere, albeit at a higher transportation cost. However, Turkish cooperation in getting oil and water to Israel may not be so easily managed. Confront reality, friends--it was a huge mistake to elevate Avigdor and his minions to a position where his insults and heavy handed bullying form of diplomacy can result in such harm to your country. It has cost you the American diaspora as well.
21. Two way apology regret for loss of life not unreasonable
Jes   (09.02.11)
These responses may be appropriate for loss of life, in spite of deadly provocation by some flotilla members. It might be a price worth paying for good neighborly relations with Turkey whose government in turning a blind eye to the known real intentions of many on the Mavi Marmara. Israel should consider apologizing and regretting any excessive use of force. But Turkey should also apologise for ignoring or even encouraging the confrontational elements within the flotilla. It should apologise to Israel knowing that the flotila would try to break the blockade of Israeli territorial waters with disasterous results
