1. THESE 'REBELS' ARE TOTALLY DISORGANIZED
stude ham   (08.23.11)
apparently they need the european bombing squads to get into the qadafi headquarters... a job which any organized and disciplined military could have done within minutes. as for the emergence of the man they said they captured... let's add totally incompetent to the description of these rag taggers. the UN is a stupid fool for having allowed this military disaster to unfold along the libyan northern coast.
2. im beginning to like kaddafi now
JL   (08.23.11)
i hope he smears the UN forces and the rebels
3. The raggedy-ass rebels triumph!
Cameron ,   USA   (08.23.11)
Da fickle finger of Fate is upon you, Gad-man.
4. Obama is strengthening the Islamists all over Mid East
Frank A. ,   Los Angeles, CA   (08.23.11)
Egypt's Mubarak had supported U.S. national interest in the region and preserved the peace treaty with Israel for the past 30 years. Why did the U.S. abandon him so swiftly in favor of a populist movement mainly powered by the Islamists? Same in Libya now. Kaddafi has sat quiet and kept to himself for the past 15 or so years. That amounts to a lot in this region when you have a leader that is not trying to stir things up against the U.S., like Iran or Syria. Where is U.S. support of the populist movements and demonstrations in Iran and Syria (other than lip service)? How come Nato has not bombed the Syrian or Iranian Presidential compounds while those regimes are killing many many demonstrators every day? Before his term is up, Obama is trying hard to change the balance of power in favor of the Islamists. Whoever is not seeing this, is not looking.
5. Obama was elected by US people...
Fred ,   Brazil   (08.23.11)
US people are responsible for this disaster in Middle East...
6. I lived in Libya
observer ,   Egypt   (08.23.11)
in 2000, the people of Libya were just breathing fresh air after lift of the embargo. But still oppressed the poor guys couldn't raise a single finger to protest their government policy, actually there was no regime to call for its down 6 months ago. Next year, 200, the guys were speaking a little bit more free. Next years, there had been a slow but steady rise in freedom. People have started talking about Gaddafi Person as not God leader anymore. Eyewitness report.
7. If they can topple Qadaffi then
Moshe ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.23.11)
certainly Obama can be toppled
8. Ronal Reagan is laughing from his grave.
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (08.23.11)
I have to give the rebels credit. They never gave up the fight for freedom. I hope that Libya won't turn into another radical Islamic county and we can have cordial relations with them. I think in time a lot of Libyan/Israelis would like to travel there and see where their parents and grandparents came from. If they are smart, they could make money from us. I know my husband would like to see where his ancestors came from.
9. Really stupid statue
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (08.23.11)
Considering the fact that the only American plane that Libya brought down was a civilian airliner with a bomb, otherwise the American airpower did to the Libyan Air Force what the IAF has done to Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Iraq.
10. some summer vacation!

11. ENJOY YOUR NEW FREEDOM
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.23.11)
The live broadcast I've been watching shows a bunch of rebels and unarmed civilians in the former Gaddafi compound. It appears they went in to an abandoned compound, after Gaddafi had already taken what he needed, and left sometime ago. There appears to have been no battle fought to take this building Yet the MSM here in the USA have described the event as "the rebels have seized the compound" or "the rebels have overtaken the compound". or "the rebels have seized control" etc., that implies some viscous fighting took place there, IT DID NOT!. Now that may be true, of taking the town of Tripoli. But it's not true about this "compound". Basically the rebels and civilians just walked in and now are looting the place. I just watched an interview of a rebel (maybe) who claimed to have been in Gaddafi bedroom and was wearing A Gaddafi, Hat, Necklace and some sort of gold cane or small rod. But nobody knows where Gaddafi is, where his sons are, or who will now run Libya. So I guess it's now "mob rule" and chaos. That's what Arabs call freedom? Well, look for street gangs to start looting all the businesses, residential homes, and raping women, enjoy your new freedom. I guess it's time for Gaddafi to take up Hugo Chevez and his offer of asylum.
12. Netanyahu next?
Avi ,   Israel   (08.23.11)
13. Obaka was not elected by me
Suzaku ,   Monroe   (08.24.11)
As soon as I heard his views on Israel, I lost all appreciation I had developed for him despite my not voting for him. The only thing responsible for this is the times, I think... that and the dictator's clutch did not make him any more popular!
14. And plugging their ears and humming loudly.
Suzaku ,   Monroe   (08.24.11)
I hate the way they've lifted him up despite his behaviour.
15. salma next?
(08.23.11)
16. does this mean
ali bumba   (08.23.11)
oil will be cheaper?
17. My comment on the video
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.24.11)
And Arabs wonder why the world thinks they are stupid, primitive, medieval, stoneage, violent, aggressive barbarians. Just look at them. And you'll understand why their socities are backward, poor, underdeveloped and primitive. The people in the video represent the very medieval backwardness that characterizes the Arab world. Things were bad under Khaddafi. Now things will probably be even worse in Libya.
18. Bashar Al-Assad next?
Az ,   TAZ   (08.24.11)
The UN "CAN" ignore the votes of China & Russia when it comes to imposing sanctions or authorising military action against a "rogue" state, it did so in the past, most notably with North Korea. Keep the pressure up, support the non-Hezbollocks parties in Lebanon to get their story out. Push the findings of the Nuclear Watchdog on the refinery in Northern Syria (wrecked somehow, who knew?).
19. Applause to the rebels of Libya. There can be hope now.
Michael ,   California, USA   (08.24.11)
The situation is uncertain and nobody knows for sure what those rebels will do. But they are showing a strong preference for freedom, which may also mean freedom from religious oppression. If changes in Libya will take place gradually and democratically, the toppling of Gaddafi will be hailed as a great achievement. Once again, accolades to Libyans.
20. Alexcander -- Russian rebels under Yeltsin looked as bad.
Michael ,   California, USA   (08.24.11)
Yes, the 'rebels' in Russia in the 1990's also looked " ... stupid, primitive, medieval, stoneage, violent, aggressive barbarians." Which rebels look differently, including the Lehi? If Libyans get the equivalent of your Putin, it will not be bad, definitely an improvement from the jerk Gaddafi. Don't act out an unjustified elitistism.
21. # 15 Re: Salma
Ginette Golden ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.24.11)
DEFINITELY!!
22. Real hope now that we can get rid of obumma.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.24.11)
23. offer kaddafi asylum in israel!
meyer ,   holland/bat ayin   (08.24.11)
being that kaddafi is considered jewish according to the law of return[a jewish grandmother on his mothers side] israel should offer kaddafi political asylum and a small area in the negev to pitch his tents.absurd yes, but israel has done stranger things.
