1. IDF's mistake
Paul ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.23.11)
the IDF should continue to find the brain-dead goons, like they found during the Gaza disengagement. Sending descent, conscious, God-fearing soldiers to commit human rights abuses is a huge mistake.
2. What a Disgrace. Shame on the IDF!
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (08.23.11)
I thought like every decent army if there was an ethical dilemma posed to a soldier, they could refuse the post without prejudice!? Stupid, STUPID commanders!!! Shame on the person who put this soldier in the brig! What a total JERK!!!! Every decent IDF soldier should protest this BS! Political NONSENSE!!!
3. Kfir medic jailed
judith ,   Rishon Letzion   (08.23.11)
Kol HaKavod to the soldier who refused to participate in removing Jews from their homes in Eretz Yisrael.
4. Kol Hakavod to the soldier
David ,   On this planet   (08.23.11)
He did not refuse an order to defend the country but an order to destroy it. He should be commanded for his action and not used as a political pawn to satisfy the defense minister who is in reality the real traitor to Israel
5. Sad it was only ONE Jew who refused to follow orders
Marcella   (08.23.11)
6. Put the Good Guy in Jail
Ed ,   Canada   (08.23.11)
I presume that this jailbird is an otherwise loyal, patriotic individual who was willing to put the commands of G_d above those of his less-than-Godly IDF commanders. I know who I would rather trust to defend Israel when there is a REAL crisis!
7. refusal to serve
dan kaplan ,   usa   (08.23.11)
whatever happened to those reserve officers that, some years back, refused to serve in the "west bank" ?
8. No repeat of Gush Katif! Behind you all the way, Soldier!!!

(08.23.11)
He tried the proper channels first, tried to do the right thing. Unfortunately, as the Gaza pullout fiasco demonstrated, there are plenty of conscienceless robots who are willing to swing the truncheons on their fellow Jews. They could have easily replaced him with one of those. They just wanted to make an example out of him.
10. Well done for taking a moral stand against the traitor barak
Adam ,   Golan Heights Israel   (08.23.11)
11. Annex "west bank" Now
yoni ,   tel aviv   (08.23.11)
Instead of wasting all the energy on turning against your own people Israel must annex the territories and declare it Israel. Until it does that it is giving a clear message that we are occupiers of disputed territories and we admit that it does not belong to us but continue to occupy. Annex the territories now!
12. Please explain us the difference!
ZAvenger ,   San Diego, USA   (08.24.11)
Leftist cowards and selfhating journalists and others use to call the illegal wetback invaders in the USA undocumented or even immigrants. They love them specially when they can get their votes. Now, in Israel those buildings are called illegal, why not unregistered or unlisted, since you leftists love everything illegal
13. They're both right.
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.24.11)
This guy did what he felt he had to and willingly went to jail. He may have kissed his military future goodbye, but his conscience is clear. The IDF did the right thing by throwing him in the brig. We CANNOT have rank and file soldiers dictate the missions - that's not how any army works. There is one way for soldiers to make change, and that's at the ballot box like the rest of us.
14. Amein, Kol Ha'Kavod to this young man
John ,   Alaska   (08.24.11)
May your 20 days pass quickly - do them and come out with your head up, because you did the right thing.
15. Re #11 Amein - exactly this.
John ,   Alaska   (08.24.11)
16. Yoni # 11
Jared ,   Stillwater   (08.24.11)
I agree with Yoni, # 11. and I think the Pals would like it better if they were to vote and get to elect their own to represent them in the Israeli government.
17. Kol Hakavod
Julie ,   Israel   (08.24.11)
This soldier is the best of the best. "Israel is behind you, Ben Yisroel." Get rid of the traitor Barak.
18. Yes Barak : Jail him and free another 1000 terrorists !
Ben Zion   (08.24.11)
This time I think Livni is right : Barak must go - enough damage done !
19. IDF Commander action is totally
GideonReader ,   USA   (08.24.11)
...shamefull. Transpose the destructive aktion to a protest tent village in Tel ?Aviv, and the Medic would have recieved the day off to stroll and shop along Rachov Dizengoff He the polititurd commander revolts me and is to a real Jew what a Banana Split is to a Hammerhead Shark wearing braces. (Like it or not. My opinion is MY opinion)
20. Re #11
Fred ,   Brazil   (08.24.11)
Annex west bank.... and what to do with the pals? give citizenship??
21. To #13 Brian - there are limits though
John ,   Alaska   (08.24.11)
I agree with you to a point. But there are some commands that should just not be followed. Had the orders been, "relocate the Jews, kill any who do not comply," I'm sure you'd agree that the only proper response would be polite refusal.
22. To #16 Jared you are being obtuse
John ,   Alaska   (08.24.11)
and I suspect deliberately. Let me explain so everyone knows you understand. 1. Israel will annex Judea and Samaria. 2. The so-called "palestinian" Arabs will be repatriated to Jordan, which has already extended them irrevocable citizenship. Any means necessary will be used to complete their repatriation. 3. Many, many more Jews will come to live in their historic homeland of Israel, including Judea and Samaria. For example, the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, will be inhabited by Jews. 4. Should any country or countries present an existential threat to Israel, then Israel will take all action necessary to neutralize this threat. Is that plain enough for you? Do you think that Israel is incapable of completing any of the above? Judah (the Jewish tribe from which came King David, born in Bethlehem and the namesake of the Jews) is a lion. You probably shouldn't annoy that lion.
23. Wonderful Hero of Israel & the Free World. Thank you!
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (08.24.11)
There is not a single illegal Jewish building anywhere in Israel - the world's sole JEWISH state. Have Israeli rulers lost their minds? There are tens of THOUSANDS of ILLEGAL Arab Muslim buildings and settlements in Jerusalem and all over Israel. Why are Muslims allowed to break many laws? There are 56 Muslims nations. 22 HUGE Arab Muslim countries. Only one very tiny Jewish state.

john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (08.24.11)
Well replied to Jared.I totally agree with you.Cheers from Cairns.
27. #22 in your dreams maybe...
Gregg ,   Haifa, IL   (08.24.11)
And YES , Israel will do nothing (fortunately) about what you have written cause it's pure BS ! Bethlehem is a very important Christian city ! Should Christians also invade the West Bank then? Things change and it's time for you to realize it. There will be no more Great Israel nor the city of David
28. #13 the real problem
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (08.24.11)
If justice was equally served, you would be right. The problem is that there is no justice, just politically motivated oppression. The medic was a lowly corporal or sergeant who explained his moral dilemma and never refused combat orders. Extreme Leftist General Yiftah Spector, a commissioned officer, refused combat orders, incited subordinates to refuse combat orders and provided aid to the enemy during war. You can guess what his punishment would be in democratic countries like the US, but in Israel he was never punished.
29. traitor Barak
Boaz ,   Australia   (08.24.11)
and a stupied one which makes it worse!
30. Migron
Mary T Anderson ,   Everett, WA, USA   (09.12.11)
Better to be approved by HaShem than by the IDF if it can't be both! Terri
