1.  Shame on us!
Rachel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.26.11)
This exploitation of women is horrific and absolutely not Jewish. We were slaves in Egypt and may not enslave another. And the indifference of police and of people in the surrounding community - what a smear on our efforts to build a just society in the Land given us by the God of Justice. And why isn't the women's movement in Israel screaming its lungs out over this?
2. Why have you not called the police?
Alex ,   Bet Shemesh   (08.26.11)
You're no better than anyone else you complain about in your articel! Why don't you call the police right now? I would if I was a witness!
3. #1
sk ,   USA   (08.26.11)
Rachel, so called "women's movements" are only a front for promoting lesbian issues/"rights" and protecting what is important to them. They don't represent mainstream women as shown by their total lack of interest in issues such as this.
4. Demand fosters Trade!
Koose E Mack ,   NY NY   (08.26.11)
Well now, logic dictates that if there were not such a large demand for sexual services, there would not be such a lucrative trade in human trafficking. Make no mistake about it....without the tacit consent of the authorities, none of this would be possible. The only way to stop the trafficking is to lower the demand...How do we do that? Castration, arrest the Johns, or legalize the profession and closely regulate it as they do in other countries?
5. #2 POLICE HERE USELESS
LAWRENCE ,   Zefat (Safed)   (08.26.11)
The Israel Police are the Keystone cops ,as anyone who has dealings with these fools knows well.
6. THE POLICE HERE ARE
LAWRENCE ,   Zefat (Safed)   (08.26.11)
A total waste of space.
7. TA is RAPIDLY turning into another crappy city.
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (08.26.11)
Soon the homeless will dwell in huge numbers; hooligans will roam the streets to accost innocent people; the smell of old urine will permeate the air of store entrances; here and there you'll find human feces in doorways; rape and murder will become a norm; the city will be completely divided by a maze of good areas and bad areas; garbage will litter all of the streets, etc., etc. This is what you get when you give everyone the freedom to 'share their culture' with you as they see fit. I wonder if Israel would let head-hunters share their culture on the streets of TA? Not a far flung consideration. What a disgrace. I was never a fan of TA; its just another decadent wanna-be joint for hipsters to behave like wild animals. International pop charts or not; TA is nothing new; its just a reminder of how disgusting we are when ethics aren't even a consideration. Shame on Israel and the police, period. I choose Jerusalem.
8. brothal
colin   (08.26.11)
The writer of this article must be sex starved. He writes a lot of rubbish The brothas is a licenced place of work and all its custemers are always satisfied with business. The police have plenty of work protecting the nation which the IDF does not do anymore. So suggest that the idiot of w riter to this article shut up
9. #2: Call the who? The police? They will do something?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.26.11)
10. Thanks
Joanna ,   Tel Aviv   (08.27.11)
Such a good summary of the injustice that is happening right before our eyes. The big question is, what can we do to help stop it?
11. A shame money has such powers RIGHT ???
M.S. ,   mpls america   (08.27.11)
I realize money has such powers while millions of Jews live below the poverty line around the world as well as Israel the criminal element may traffic in women as sex slaves sell our women to other races this crime is as bad as any thing that happened in W W II concentration camps W W II did not end the crimes committed against the Jews did not even diminish them they are still happening I suffer from living below the poverty level luckily America offers government supported apartment housing for seniors other wise my life would be even worse than it is we need a miracle a million times biger than Moses to save us RIGHT and or at least a double Moses RIGHT Thank You... M. S.

Devorah   (08.27.11)
Ashley Rindsberg appears to have a sense of tradition, values and character; something which you apparently do not. And stop projecting the fact that you are sex starved onto Mr. Rindsberg.
13. puritanical nonsense
uruk ,   israel   (08.27.11)
Prostitution should be legalized and regulated. The only reason it's illegal in the first place is a deranged puritanical hatred of all things sexual. It's an ancient profession, it's not going anywhere, and the societies that have kept it most under control have been those that found some way to live with it.
14. Not in my neighbourhood
Beauchard   (08.27.11)
A brothel in full view can be easily checked. So it will not take part in human trafficking. As in other countries, the sex slaves can be found in the illegal circuit. Close this whorehouse down and you will just reinforce the illegal circuit and there will be more sex slaves. Of course then there will be no brothel in Mr. Rindsberg's "very good' neighbourhood. Which is probably why Mr. Rindsberg wrote this article.
15. Put the immediate members of the families
jason white ,   afula, israel   (08.27.11)
of pimps and madams to work in brothels also. Anyone who is involved in this human trafficking should see their own mothers, wives, daughters, sisters and other relatives sent to work in brothels for a few years. As for the po-lice and politicians, they are not to be blamed. We do not expect them to do their jobs and we are never disappointed. Perhaps it would be a good idea to photograph the Johns as they leave the brothels and to put their pictures in the national newspapers. Have a contest to see who can give a real name and address to these Johns.
16. Brothels
Ehud ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.27.11)
No complaints about the prices then ? By the way does the price include value added tax?.
17. Sex in the city.
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (08.27.11)
Brothels are one of the great safety valves of society . They prevent a lot of rapes and other sex related violence toward women. Go modern and make it legal, taxable and regulated .It will never be eliminated simply because sex is a basic human need.
18. The Fiction Of The Brothels
Michael Stroch ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.28.11)
I just don't believe it. Every time I see the numbers - so many new sex slaves per year, so many customers serviced by each slave each day, etc - I do the math and see how many men would have to be going to a whore two or three times per week - and what they would be spending - and then I wonder if there are that many men in this country with that much spare cash - and then I wonder "where are they"? Ask yourself, reader: do you know *one* man who regularly visits whores? Do your brothers? Do your cousins? Do your co-workers? Sure, maybe you know some guy who, back in his army or college days, went to a whore, even a couple of times. But do you know anyone who has made it a life long habit? And if you can only name one guy, where is the army of hundreds of thousands of Israeli whoremongers hiding itself?
19. Brothel...
Bruria   (08.28.11)
I don't suppose this idiot has considered that there are actually some women that are not "slaves". Did he bother to go inside to see if there were women chained to the beds? Did he talk to any of them? The women who are enslaved are not out in the open. While we need to stop the trafficking in humans, this article is little more than a self-serving fluff piece.
20. trafficking versus choice
Anonymous ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.28.11)
I have a friend who is severely disabled. He has been going to a brothel like this one for ten years. He is not rich, so he doesn't go often. But it is clean, antiseptically so; the sex workers are not "trafficked" or "enslaved" -- they are young women who made a calculated decision that making several hundred shekels per hour as sex workers beats the pay for cleaning houses or working in a gan.I would not make this choice for myself, but I deplore this writer for depriving women of lucrative income and driving them into poverty out of some misplaced puritanism and simple bad facts.
