No matter what, Palestine will get the great majority of the UN votes. Israel has already lost, thanks to the rubbish Netanyahu government and ministers.
2. Declaration

The terrorists can declare a state; it still wont happen.
3. NO STATE

How can anyone indorse the creation of a Terrorist state that is backed by Iran?

Dont give in so easy ! Israel has not lost and by the way will not ! Use your voice and write letters to the powers that be ! No more surrending of the land.
5. UN vote
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (08.27.11)
Usually foreign nations decide about the fate of a country after a victorious war. But where is Israel's defeat in the battlefields ? I did not hear of it. Huge mistakes in Israel's policy led to this sad situation.
6. "..Israeli representative identity has yet to be determined"
Observer   (08.27.11)
I suggest Liebermann - just to make sure the Palestinians get their state.
7. no point counting votes
yonatan silverman ,   tel aviv israel   (08.27.11)
It makes no difference who votes how in the UN in September The UN has no power to translate the vote into facts on the ground The Palestinian state will remain only inside the UN walls
8. Previous approval does not mean a vote in favor now
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (08.27.11)
Countries that endorsed Arafat's declaration in 1988 need not vote in favor of Abbas' attempt in 2011. They can morally and legally abstain from this vote without explanation.

NYC Girl   (08.27.11)
So according to you, the Palestinians will get a state because of Netanyahu and his "rubbish government"? Yet the fact that Mahmoud Abbas played a major role in the murder of the Olympic athletes and is on record as a Holocaust denier is apparently no obstacle?
10. @2
daria   (08.27.11)
Exactly what happened with Kosovo; terrorists declared a "state", and they even got support from big world bullies, and still, no dice. Just frozen conflict. In other words, no negotiated solution - no state. Unilateral actions are madness.
11. they will get at least a 2 third majority
zionist forever   (08.27.11)
The arabs will easily get at least a two third majority in the General Assembly. South America Most of the EU Most of Eeastern Europe The entire Arab World All non Arab islamic states Most of Aisa. As for Britain, my parents live there and about a month ago their local MP gave a talk at the synagogue and somebody asked about where he stood on the issue of the idea of Abbas going to the UN. The MP himself was very much in favor and he apparently hinted that David Cameron had decided that they would vote in favor of a palestinian state The French have traditionally been on the side of the Arabs as they once had the mandates for Syria and Lebanon, countries they still show political support for. Its not long ago Nicholas Sarkozy was calling Assad friend of France. If Israel is looking for friends in the UN on September 20th it won't find many. Its just a good thing Obama doesn't have Congress in his back pocket anymore and is in the middle of an election campaign otherwise the US would be voting with the arabs as well. Abbas will come away from the General Assembly with a huge amount of support although as it won't become legal without passing the Security Council which the US has said it will veto it will never be anything more than a non binding resolution. It won't be legal in practice but on the streets the ordinary Arab won't see it that way and when Israel doesn't submit to the UN demands it will probably spark a renewal of the intafada which will probably lead to Cast Lead 2. Thanks to the bleeding heart UN alot of people might end up getting killed.
12. It is simply against the US c harter
StevieT ,   USA   (08.27.11)
to create a State that is in conflict with an existing UN member State. Period!

So Netenyaho and company should give into these terrorists which is what they are and just roll over and die.I am sure that in 1939 you would have loved Neville Chamberlin and the "peace in our time "mentality. If you know anything about history(which I doubt) the results were not pretty.
14. Let Them Declare A State
K ,   Chicago, USA   (08.28.11)
Who will fight for them to have a state? What idiot nation will go to war for them? Other than the usual idiots (Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iran, etc...), what REAL military will fight for them? Great Britain? Germany? NATO? The US? This is all a bluff. The UN is meaningless and the free world should treat it so!
15. I disagree, I disagree
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.28.11)
16. Politically Incorrect
Ashley ,   Afula   (08.28.11)
I find it incomprehensible that any member of the United Nations would endorse the independence of a two government state that approve, probably assist and definately do not prevent terrorist activities, including the firing of missiles into a member state of the U.N. - Israel.
17. Thanks to Liberman Israel has very few friends

David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.28.11)
However, there is not doubt whatsoever that the Palestinians will get an overwhelming majority in the UN General Assembly. The vote in the Security Council is what counts and we just don't know who will and who won't support it. Britain will no doubt vote for the Palestinians to appease the Muslims and Israel cannot count on vetoes from Russia and China. France will sit on on the fence and this leaves the USA. What will Obama do? I don't think that the US will vote "Yes" but will they vote "No" and thus veto the resolution is the BIG question and I am inclined to think the USA will abstain!
19. WHY NO RESPECT FOR UN
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (08.28.11)
It's sad that so many countries that really are nothing but thug nations, get a form of International respect or legitimacy from the UN. Yet many of these countries will vote in favor of....what amounts to....a group of people that don't have a legitimate government. Meet none of the International criteria to even be considered for an independent entity. Currently the government in charge, is committing "war crimes" on almost a daily basis, by planning rocket attacks on civilians in a sovereign country. Plus who have stated repeatedly that this would simply be a first step in their war to destroy another country, Israel.
20. to# 14 israel can never resist.
inconito   (08.28.11)
Arab rid of their dictators will now have the support of Western powers and opignon. do not underestimate the willingness of Arab countries to defend the Palestinians in case of bloodshed. from now israel is no longer the focus for the West. and Saudi Arabia a major oil power will support Palestinians. also a war is not necessary, if the UN passes a state then there will be a legal basis for hard santions in every state who voted yes. israel can never resist.

23. #20 You sure are a dreamer
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (08.29.11)
You got rid of some dictators who are or will have others take their place Egypt, Mubarak is out, the same old gang, under a different name is in, and the military still rules Libya, KhaDAFFY may be gone, you don't know, as yet who will replace him since nobody knows who the 149 tribes that Libya consists will choose to represent them Saudi Arabia is afraid of Iran; Iran wants to rule Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait & Afghanistan One small fact you should take into consideration,The General Assembly does not have the authority to create binding law by a simple vote. It is not a global legislature, just as the UN is not a world government. Its resolutions are symbolic. Never mind the fact that the UN charter never gives the General Assembly such authority. Just think about it: Does anybody believe that in creating the UN, sovereign states like the U.S. and the Soviet Union handed over their own sovereign authority to a body in which tyrannical regimes and democratic ones, friends and allies, get an equal vote? That if, one day, the General Assembly decides to grant independence to Quebec, or Minnesota, or the Confederacy, that suddenly it will be binding on all member states, including Canada and the U.S.? ONE MORE THING, THERE STILL IS INTER-FACTIONAL FIGHTING AND THE PEOPLE ARE NO BETTER OFF THAN THEY WERE BEFORE
24. You can endorse Palestine
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (08.30.11)
However, the UN Charter doesn't allow you collect

Careful. Although an arab military cannot compare to Israel's, they can cause great difficulty if they act together. Never underestimate your opponent. They could even equal a “real” army. Yes, Israel won all it's wars, but at tremendous cost. No, I am not saying Israel should agree to a "Palestine" or give in in any way. I do want to point out the reality of war. One side loses more than the other. But both sides do lose.
