As expected, the storm hugged the coast to the east, with some areas receiving over 14" of rain. Lots of flooding there with many areas without power. The city fared much better, with winds of 39-45mph max and maybe 4-5". The sun peeked out around noontime, though it was mildly windy still. I just took a long walk through Rock Creek Park where the cyclists and joggers have already returned. The creek's waters were perhaps a foot or two above normal level; we'll see if they rise further as upstream waters reach it.

Really. In the past, for huge storms like Hazel and Hugo, the media and Gov't. flunkies couldn't have cared less. This time the pols are all over themselves conveying concern and giving instructions. So what's really going on? What are they trying to divert us from? And just so we're clear?
