1. "Pals" do not want to negotiate peace & borders. They
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (08.31.11)
have beenn evading negotiations beacuse their real objective is occupying both states. "2 Palestines side by side" If they only wanted their own state they could have had it 65 years ago.Instead they chose genocidal war and terror.
2. Ros-Lehtinen legislation
nadya ,   Garden Grove, CA.,US   (08.31.11)
The Ros-Lehtinen legislation and the request by the Foreign Affairs Committee will not pass. It's just AIPAC trying to tighten the screws. The U.S. cannot force the vote of other countries, nor should they. The Palestinian recognition is a done deal.
3. American Moses saves Israel
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (08.31.11)
"Ros-Lehtinen's maternal grandparents were Sephardic Jews from Turkey who had been active in Cuba's Jewish community"
4. Palestinian problem.
Luiz Felipe Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (08.31.11)
The solution is simple for all counscious and democratic world's citizens. Without recognizing Israel as a Jewish State, according with UNO's decision in 1947, Arab Palestine can not be recognized as an other State. Without giving up from the erred "right of return", nothing done, also. Or a real peace for the both ones, or a permanent conflict. I am sure that Israel wants the first option. But, about Fatah and Hamas, specially the second, I do not see the same.
5. Jordan pull UN bid
Sonny fried ,   Skokie. USA   (08.31.11)
There is no right of return. Once Palestinans get there own country there will be no right to return to Israel. As long as Abbas fails to tell his people right of return is a dead issue, he will be without a state.
6. The truth will Set You Free
(08.31.11)
Baruch Hashem
7. Jordan is Palestine; 78% of it!! Its populace? 80% palesti
Judah ,   Israel   (08.31.11)
nian....there is a truly viable 2 state solution. The dupes advocating israel be 8 miles wide are wasting precious time, lives, and resources. Might as well tell the jews to colectively crawl into the gas chambers again. Not going to happen.
8. Right to return for Palestinians????
what's that ,   WORLD   (08.31.11)
9. UN
randy ,   lebanon   (08.31.11)
The UN needs to be dismantled. It is a good for nothing organization.
10. UN vote
Arnold ,   Canada   (08.31.11)
I do not really understand the legal ramifications of the UN vote in reference to the refugees and their future status. But if it is true then I can see why the King is upset. It would mean that the refugees in the Jordanian camps will be staying indefinately.
11. Is it not clear to anyone yet that this "moderate" man is...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.31.11)
...not interested in an accommodation of peaceful coexistence between Arab and Jew, between the Muslim-Arab world, local and regional, and the nation-state of the Jewish people? I call upon the various member states of the European Union (EU), Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and others to realize: accepting the Palestinian Authority as a member state to the United Nations as a state will provide these people with a shot in the arm to relate to the independent nation-state of the Jewish people and a member in good standing of the United Nations in a more aggressive way, one that will bring with it more bloodshed... The UN member states should review one of the UN's most important resolutions, UN Security Council Resolution, 242, and demand that the parties settle their differences based on this Resolution which has been the basis for all peace talks to date and actual peace treaties already signed by Israel and two of its Muslim-Arab neighboring states. Will the UN demonstrate it deserves respect...??
12. Just a great big old scaredy-cat
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.31.11)
He understands that Israel's response will be to annex Judea and Samaria, and send all its Jordanian citizens home to Jordan. Oh, my gracious me, How dreadful. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of jackals, now could it?\ Tee hee. Enjoy, folks. You're in for quite a ride.
13. The reason is simple...
Vlad   (08.31.11)
A two-state solution is not in Jordan's interests, and could actually mortally threaten them. Jordanian leaders remember Black September well. They do not want a hostile Islamist state sharing a lengthy border with them, and they do not want to integrate their Palestinian refugee population into their society. Either option could result in another Black September-style guerilla war, and the dissolution of the Hashemite monarchy.
14. Lies and lies ad more lies
Baba ,   USA   (08.31.11)
Is this for Israelis consumption. first if King Abdulah want to say something to abu Abas he does not need to do it through channels, second un recognition will not effect refugees because they re under a different resalotiion. this is just tactics to scare Palestinians in diaspora. but it will not work.
15. Jordan's Concern
Max ,   Washington DC   (08.31.11)
The PA has put itself out on a limb with it's request for UN recognition. Jordan is correct that the palestinians will gain support from the General Assembly but forfeit their right of return to what is now Israel. King Hussein fears they may elect to resettle in Jordan which already has a palestinian majority of inhabitants.
16. Want their cake and eat it too....
Slice ,   Texas USA   (08.31.11)
They want to have a state, but not really, because they would lose their "right of return' which by any another group of "refugees" in the world they are somehow special and get singular definitions for their refugee status. Funny how they want a state of their own, but even if the get it, still want to return to Israel, why, because they live in a terrorist world and know Israel is 1000% time better than where they are not. Why do you think the arabs who actually live in Israel don't want their fellow "Palis"/Arabs to get a state, because then they might actually have to move from Israel to their shithole new country.
17. The Kings Motive Suck
Ron ,   oc, us   (08.31.11)
As Jordan is a Pal state and the Pals will never see the "wrong of Return" anyhow. Therin lies the problem. Another Pal state is touted to end anothe Jew/Arab war and all Abbas wants: from Jerusalem, to 67 borders and a return of so called refugees will do nothing but gaurantee further war.
18. New York City where the U.N. headquarters is located will
Rivkah   (08.31.11)
be held accountable if the Palestinians are voted a State that divides Jerusalem and takes part of Israel's territory that was given to the Jews forever by YHWH in Scriptures. What will happen to New York City? The same thing that will happen to Geneva when the U.N. moves there after YHWH destroys NYC with an earthquake that casts it into a pit that is underneath the stoney layer of earth where NYC is built. There is a vast pit waiting for whoever tests YHWH on His Word that He gave Jerusalem and lands in the Middle East mentioned in Scriptures to the Jews. What will happen to Geneva when the U.N. moves there? Geneva will be destroyed by a black hole that the CERN Particle Accelerator produces according to Nostradamus' visions.
19. What "right of return"?
Michael Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (08.31.11)
Once there is a Palestinian state, whether it happens in September 2011 or in who knows when, 50 years from now, the so-called "Palestinian people" will cease to be "stateless". Once that happens, the question of whether to allow Palestinians to emigrate to another state will be in the hands of that state, which is under no compulsion, legal or moral, to accept immigrants. The "Palestinians" can exercise a "right of return" when the same right is granted to the more than 3 million ethnic Germans expelled at the points of Russian and Czech bayonets in 1945-6, when the Hindus and Moslems of India and Pakistan can return to their ancestral homes and when the Jewish refugees from Arab lands can return to their properties in the Arab countries without fear of death.
20. The Pals are setting themselves for failor again.
Eyal ,   USA   (08.31.11)
If they get the General Assembly, which they will, Israel will lose nothing but Arab bickering (yawn). In return, I believe the PA will lose something, as Israel will penalize the PA with something, but Israel will not abandon the return to negotiate. I think Obama will blackmail Israel, or will try to tell Natanyahu that with the veto, he must return to the negotiating table, which Natanyahu will probably accept, as Obama has a lot of Muslim votes now. I think Natanyahu is cooking something with the Lez box Livni, which make me think whether Natanyahu wants to replace Lieberman as Foreign Minister. I don't trust Obama, nor Livni, which is why Natanyahu needs to be careful and very diligent on how he chooses, because if he does replace Lieberman with Livni, my vote will go to Lieberman in the next elections. If Obama chooses not to veto, I believe Natanyahu will stop dealing with Obama's administration and also believe Natanyahu will immediately Annex all lands and kick the Pals to Jordan.
21. if the 'right of return' is what's holding you back
(08.31.11)
you might as well ask for a colony on the moon, because that's about the same possibilty of it happening.
22. Independent Palestinian Statehood and Right of Return
Marcus Silverman   (08.31.11)
I can't see the Israeli theocracy ever giving the Palestinians right of return, the only right of return they grant is to economic migrants from America and Eastern Europe, just because they're Jewish. The Palestinians best option is use their land deeds to seek compensation from Israel in the same way that Israel encourages the descendants of Holocaust victims to seek compensation for their loss of land and proper.
23. Jordan urges Abbas to rethink UN bid.
Elsie. ,   Gush Halav   (08.31.11)
Sarah, Sarah, what on earth are you smoking??this really isn't you. oh my!
24. #18 Rivkah
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (08.31.11)
A black hole created at the CERN destroys Geneva? And Nostradamus predicted this? Interesting. Tell us more about the physical background.
25. Megacities
Zichron   (08.31.11)
China is planning to relocate hundreds of millions of its rural citizens to megacities and everywhere urbanization reduces the village and rural populations producing the steamy urban life rapid acssess emergency medical care education people and activity .The rural retreat is still available for some . So the refugee camps can cbecome megacities better in lifestyle than the old villages without sewerage and running water even . Do the jews want to return to the shtetyl . This right of full absolute return is a deluded sadomasochistic dream . It would be wonderful no mobiles olive trees harvesting with the sickle making needed goods with the hammer. its a long way off full of catastrophic obstacles
26. #18 - your disaster scenario, centered
seadog1946 ,   Arthur Kill, NJ   (08.31.11)
on Turtle Bay, is ominous... you should spread the word far and wide. The first order of budiness is to relocate and save KATZ’S DELICATESSEN so that future generations can experience gastronomic ecstasy.
27. The King of Joran is a trator
George Boley ,   USA   (08.31.11)
The Abdallah, Hussein and now Abdallah are all agents of Israel and the US. The UN is the most multilateral organization known to man and if the bid is nothing to worry about then why all the worry?! GA is not just Muslim/Arab countries! Also in the SC the Palestinians has a large majority but the American veto will save Israel. Stop lying to your people, you are only hurting your cause! After all you can tell a lie and believe it but the word around you stopped doing so.. Israel needs to come to terms with the free world and end it's occupation while it still has a chance to do so...
28. What would Jordan do if they got Right of Return? Empty it
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (08.31.11)
What would Jordan do if they got Right of Return? Empty itself of the 80% Palestinians that make up its population (including the Queen and Heir Apparent)?
29. Jordan is Not Palestine
Boxer ,   USA   (08.31.11)
# 7. Jordan is NOT Palestine. Even if it is populated with only Palestinians. Similarly, Israel is not Russia or Eastern Europe, although the majority ar from these areas. Learn to think logically - not be influenced by emotion and hocu-pocus religious crap.
30. The UN
(08.31.11)
(#9)"The UN needs to be dismantled. It is a good for nothing organization" That is the definition of Ungratefulness. It is the UN that accepted Israel as a "nation" and gave it some degree of respect while 90 % of the world would have rather see it disappear just as quickly as it was created. The occupied Palestinians are exzpecting even less than what the Israelis got from the UN, yet you covet that. So, you have no more use for the UN? It leaves me to wonder about Israel's integrity.
