I agree wholeheartedly! with a 70% population of "palestinian arabs" jordan is definitley palestine.
3. Jordan is Palestine
Joshua ,   USA   (09.01.11)
Here at last is a sensible article reminding all of us that the true solution for peace in the middle east lies with changing the name of Jordan to Palestine. How can a country with 70% of the population being Palestinians be anything other than Palestine? After king Abdullah is gone, Jordan will be phsically large enough to transform itself into a viable Palestinian state that if managed properly, could sustain itself. The West Bank and Gaza will never, ever provide such an opportunity and will forever remain a Hornets nests fostering hatered and terrorism. Well articulated Yoel Meltzer, Kudos!

Jordan is majority a mass wasted land, we traveled for hours & hours beside wasted unpopulated lands from one tourist destination to another. Jordan which was actually belongs to Israel during King David, Solomon's rule, can just open up a piece of wasted land to accommodate their palestinian- relatives over at this side of the River. so much for arab brotherly love.
12. #9,, Israelis' ancestors were here long before arab ancestor
mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (09.01.11)
Israelis ancestors were here on the Mount Zion long before the Dome of Rock build, and the "Superman" who fly to the moon also die before his mythological journey to the Farthest Mosque (the Mount). this is recognized not just by the Jews, but also by bible-believing christians. palis may move their state to the moon if they want.

Refugees never see the refuge as a substitute for their actual homeland. If I could find the word for "opposite of intelect" I would use it here. Keep dreaming and try not to wake up.

Yossef   (09.01.11)
you'll just get back the jordanian citizenship. You are welcome to stay where you live, and participate to the Israeli economy and social life, but as a Jordanian citizen. Think about, that's not so bad. I would add that if you can prove that your ancestor were there before 1948 you'll be able to choose the israeli citizenship if you prefer.

20. Abdullah Probably Appreciates the Warning
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (09.01.11)
King Abdullah and the Jordanian royal family probably do appreciate the warning of the planning by Israelis to overthrow their government. And the West Bank Palestinians probably also appreciate the warning that they may be unwillingly relocated, ethnically cleansed, by force of arms. It is also surprising how many Americans are just in love with the concept of European colonial powers dividing and subdividing where others live.

Palestinian Arabs from the Occupied West Bank and re-settle them to the East, (Hashemiteless Jordan) sounds like a zionist dream come true. Will there be delousing facilities/chambers at the Jordanian reception camps when the sealed buses/boxcars/truck-trailers are opened?

24. A Golden opportunity
Isaac Storm   (09.01.11)
About a year ago, I read in the J'Post that several members of the PA, like Abbas, obtained Jordanian citizenship. I like the writer's idea. Moreover, I think that Israel should work with King Abdullah as well into intergrating the Arab population that considers themselves to be "Palestinian" into Jordan. With the PA going to the UN this month, the PA, seems bent on throwing away the Oslo Accords; therefore, the writer's suggestion, as well as Israel working with Abdullah might present itself with an opportunity to transform the situation into a win-win situation for all concerned.
25. Jordan is not Palestine
Dr. Mohamed Nezami ,   Jarash, Jordan   (09.01.11)
Jordan is not Palestine and Jordan is not Israel and Jordan is not the Hashimites. Jordan is not made of 70% Palestinians as you mentioned, Jordan has close to 60% Jordanians whom original roots are of Palestinians. Jordan will not solve Israel's crime of misplacing the Palestinians, only Israel alone should bear solving their problem and finding them either a place to settle or take them back. Jordan is not an option to solve the Palestinian problem. We Jordanians are revolting against an absolute monarchy and a corrupt regime, that is not constitutional,we need to establish a democratic Jordan and not "Palestine in Jordan", and will keep the misplaced refugees until the world solve their problem, for now they are in their brother's homes, but eventually only Israel alone will have to solve their problem, and they themselves would not accept any place as an exchange for their native land that is Palestine. The Israelis must understand that the Palestinian problem is not just the problem of finding a home for misplaced refugees nor is to establish a Palestinian state, the Palestinian problem is a Muslim and a human problem, we have holy places that we need to stay under Arab sovereignty in an Arab place. As for Palestinians, they want their native land, and that would not be replaced by any place but what is now occupied lands by Israelis.
26. #22 Don't confuse Arab squatters with "Palestinians".

27. Arabs of Judea stay as residents, get Jordanian citizenship
Judah ,   Israel   (09.01.11)
The next king of Jordan has A palestinian mother, queen rania. He is a palestinian king in the offing... see horse or see biscuit, get a grip on reality. Jews doing that is less likely than you becoming a a far right Zionist. As for the paid rep from Jordan, dude the masses of your country are palestinian; Jordan took more fleiing arabs from Judea et al than all other countries combined. Who r u kidding?? We all know that the government is highly squeemish on this subject and draconian to keep things status quo. But the fact is mr. Iraqi defense minkster wanna be, that you have relatively small %'s of bedouin and circasian peoples. The hashemites dont even number 20k. Thats not even a tenth of 1% of Jordans population. Get a grip, the sooner the better, Jordan is heading to REVERT to being Palestine (as it was called before the hashemites were imported from mecca by London)

This is the only solution that will save the peace in the Middle East. It is time that our fake State be taken off life support.
30. Well, it's not "exactly" Palestine, but close enough
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (09.01.11)
Palestinians and their erstwhile supporters never tiring of claiming that Israel's Jews are just usurpers from Europe (ignoring that more than half of Israel's Jews hail from Muslim lands). Yet they refrain from describing Jordan's Hashemites as usurpers from the Arabian peninsula where they lost out to the Saudis. Note too that not all who today claim to be Palestinians hail from what's today Jordan. Some do, but others are descended from those who immigrated to "Palestine" from Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, et.al. Indeed, what's today Jordan was at one time included in the territory intended for a Jewish homeland, but was broken off by the Brits and given to the Hashemites before the Mandate was authorized by the League of Nations. Those Jewish lands included everything west of the Jordan as well as the "Bashan" (Golan). That too was traded away by the Brits to the French to buy support for their claims on Iraq. But "Jordan as Palestine" makes eminent sense. The majority *do* consider themselves Palestinians, and will ultimately take over when the Hashemites are overthrown. The Jordan is a natural boundary, and gives Israel the buffer they need. There's land to accommodate the returnees from Lebanon and Syria, including a port (Aqaba). And with Israeli and international help, they'd get the water they need. Then again, this conflict has never been about borders, or creating a state. They could have had that long ago. This is about the very existence of a Jewish state neighboring Arab lands.
