1. Lady Ashton
midas ,   TA   (09.01.11)
Can talk all she wants. Germany, France and UK are the main parties who created the jewish existential crisis. They might do best to butt out, or go sort Syria. What kind of animals are they that accept ethnic cleansing of christians from the middle east and now want to push the jews back into the mediterranian?
2. #1 What was your point? It was all muddled and rant like
(09.01.11)
3. Despite opinions on Ashton, SHE is in power, talkbackers are
Michael Goldberg   (09.01.11)
far from power AND typically just xenophobic racists with no real point apart from spouting out the usual slogans. That said, they are usually all Americans, not Israelis
4. not really
daria   (09.01.11)
"to assist Europe's newest nation"... I know you're copy/pasting AP, but you should not be using these propaganda slogans. Kosovo is no "nation". It is a UN protectorate on Serbian territory. Israel recognizes Serbia within its international borders guaranteed by UN Charter and other relevant documents, and that includes the province of Kosovo. As for EU it will remain split. That's the card we play, that's the card Israel should be playing. The more split they are, the less effective in harming our vital interests. Anyway Israel's real problem with secessionists will happen with Arabs in Galilee, not with Palestinians in W. Bank. And I wish you all the luck in handling that when it happens.
5. King Midas Touch
Raf ,   Athens   (09.01.11)
Listen here, King Midas because you sound rediculous. Ethnic cleansing is building on occupied terriotories and forcing the locals to relocate to Jordan. Ethnic cleansing is making the lives of people belonging to a particular race or religion so difficult that they have no hope but to move. Ethnic cleansing is talking about land for peace while you take the land and expect the peace. Please think with the part of your brain that isn't full of right wing Israeli propaganda. Or remain silent as a favor to those who really think.
6. Clueless idiots of the EU
Marcel ,   Florida   (09.01.11)
Along with NATO and the US they have made a number of serious blunders with Egypt and now Libya and do nothing about Syria and Iran except hide. Israel is ALWAYS,ALWAYS their easy target. What will they screw up next ?
7. EU split?????
tiki ,   belgium   (09.01.11)
That's just pro forma. In their hearts they have made up their minds a long time ago. Is it against Israel?????? Douze points! They should stop pretending and follow the likes of Belgium: the split country without a governement for more than a year, Ireland with it's centuries of wars of Protestants & Catholics, Spain with it's 'honorable past or Portugal's colonial history, Anti semitic Norway/Sweden was a done deal from the start, Malta as a part of GB and Greece must walk in line or else....Furthermore, what do they care. They have 'done their part, they want to 'finish the deal and from now on let the parties break their heads together. They don't care, they have their own problems.
8. They have a small problem
Moshe ,   Netanya   (09.01.11)
Which countries will take 6 million North African rebels? I never met an Arab who wants to live in Arab country!! Even rich Saudi subjects want to live somewhere else.
9. EU supports PA terrorists, peace treaty is impossible.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.01.11)
10. #9 and US voted in one of the biggest PA supporters. I
Happy days   (09.01.11)
loved Michelle Obama in her Muslim clothes the other day, very symbolic, Bunnie.
11. Pal 2 state solution rejects Jewish Israel
Sam ,   Canada   (09.01.11)
The EU supports Jewish and Palestinian states. The Palestinians reject a Jewish state. Abbas very recently affirmed that. So, what kind of 2 state solution does the EU want Israel to negotiate. Better still, Ashton should ask the Palestinians what they mean by a 2 state solution. It's rather shocking that the EU and US the supposed mediators, haven't asked the Palestinians until now. It makes them look totally incompetent.
12. dear Mrs.Ashton,
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.01.11)
Palestine has suffered for over 6 decades the horrors of war as well as the untold pain of oppression, degradation, and violence. The Palestinian people have endured the brutality of the longest-standing military occupation in modern history. Now it’s time for the world to put an end to this unacceptable indignity. It is time to recognize a free, independent, and democratic Palestine on the 1967 borders, in accordance with UN resolutions and international law.
13. Sorry, I am European and we are FED UP WITH ASHTON
Francisco ,   Madrid, Spain   (09.01.11)
Search Google. There are plenty of blogs exposing European MEPs links with Muslim petrol. The European Parliament does not represent us at all, and Mrs. Ashton's licking butt would not exists if EU would be a democracy. The problem is that it is not a democracy but a Soviet burocracy. Fortunately, the crisis is ending it, and be sure we are going to speak very soon. But sorry, I haven't ever been to America and she does not represent us at all, it everyday in the street.
14. So far there are only 5 countries certain to vote against
Gabriel ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (09.01.11)
Those are the US, Germany, Italy, Holland and the Czech Republic. Nice huh? That's 5 out of 193. And for what? A state that will not come into being as a result of this farce anyway, will be the reason for a big deal of unrest, and certainly a lot of demises. The problem with EU is that it is split. Split not only in the matter of the middle-east, but also over everything else: taxes, immigration, islam, open borders. No-one in the EU likes the EU, apart from some europhile politicians. No-one identifies him- or herself with the EU, and at least most in my country don't like seeing Brussels making decisions over our tax money.
15. Norway is not in the EU
BDS   (09.01.11)
16. at best 2-3 EU states will back Israel in the UN
zionist forever   (09.01.11)
For sure Ireland, France, UK will vote against Israel in the UN. Other then Germany and possibly Italy I imagine all the western European countries will support the palestinian state. A couple of former Soviet states might back Israel but that's about all the support Israel can expect in the EU. The arabs will probably get at least three quarters of the UN voting in favor so I really don't know why Bibi is wasting his time trying to convince countries to vote against because we will lose anyway. We should tell the arabs and the rest of the world that things will change for the worst if they go ahead with this bid for statehood and then not bother to send Peres or any other envoy to the UN over this they will end up going home looking like fools.
17. dear salma
daze ,   US   (09.01.11)
Any suffering you arabs have suffered has come from your own hands. You oppress, degrade, and violate each other. The IDF is there to prevent arab thugs from making mischief on Israelis and then running away to hide behind children and berkas. In short you have no dignity as borne out by your everyday actions. Another arab state of you guys would not be free, independent, or democratic, but would be another non creative, non productive arab failure, a worse than useless always begging moneypit.
18. EU
Dik ,   Spijkenisse Holland   (09.01.11)
Christians for Israel (Holland) is planning a manifestation in Brussels in front of EU to proclaim that Jerusalem be the undivided capital of the State of Israel. I plan to join God willing on 19th Sepetember Shalom from Holland
19. Gabriel
fg   (09.01.11)
Gabriel, what else do you expect? They are - the vast majority ar either soft or hard-core antisemites from the very beginnings. It's practically in their collective DNA. By the way Canada and Israel will also vote No, so that's already 7. Australia is hesitating between voting No and abstaining.
20. to #12 and all other arabs
mauriceclebert ,   Judea Samaria Israel   (09.01.11)
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "palestinians", "palestine" ...there is a bunch of arab terrorists that deny the jewish people its right to exist. go on dreaming of your banthustan if you want, but hey check the reality on the ground...the JUDEA AND SAMARIA is JEWISH !!!
21. What helps them qualify for Statehood ?
John Klekota ,   Goose Island USA   (09.01.11)
Would it be the number of rockets they launch each day ?
22. Only BIG ISRAEL can bring balance and freedom to ME.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (09.01.11)
23. #12 Salma - You have real talent
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (09.01.11)
Salma: Seriously, have you ever tried becoming an actress or even considered writing plays? As far as your version of reality goes, I can see that you really believe all that falsification of history, whereby our genuine Jewish history has been hijacked by your ficticious people. However, you have a passion for words that by itself is quite talented. You throw yourself into the role with conviction and use dramatic language to put your point across. Maybe, you have some Jewish blood inside you? Don't laugh, there's plenty of Arabs that do. After shooting each other they often get blood transfusions from Jewish donor banks in Israeli hospitals. Anyway, I hope you get the chance to discover the difference between truth and fiction, and get to use your talent on stage. Shalom from a Jewish settler!
24. BIG ISRAEL: Islam as co-existent religion, iso Jihadism.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (09.01.11)
25. @19
Gabriel ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (09.01.11)
So that makes 8 at best, perhaps a couple of others. We had best hope for some abstinations. Apart from overt anti-semitism, I wonder what moves the European western democracies too legitamize a country that will be a failed state, dependend on the western taxpayer at best, or, more likely, a terrorist's den, at worst. I really don't get it. It is not as if Europe is bound to be any safer for it, let alone Israel. I remember the PLO's business in europe back in the '70's. With people like this, granting demands will invariably lead to more demands, and they will kill for them..
26. Re: 25; continued from # 19
Gábor Fränkl   (09.02.11)
You really don't get it? OMG! Easy! It's eevrything to do with the media-induced, media-driven pro-Palestinian environment in these countries, which are almost to the point of total unreasonableness and recklesness. They ar practically has become the hostages of their own media-created public opinions. Yes, it's so strong. And business of course. lots of hoped for buisness. Mainly for the British wimps, the most spineless and most dependent on Muslim goodwill of all. I'd say even more than the French if it's possible. But that's just me...
27. Real Social Justice in September
Mark Blacknell ,   Kula, HI USA   (09.02.11)
Israelis and supportive people around the world please coordinate mass counter demonstrations in support of Israel in late September. Israelis go to the borders of the West Bank in peaceful defiance. Show the world the real Israel. Don't continue to make the mistake of letting your government protect you. Protect yourselves by showing the world your freedom, civility and modernity.
28. Salma, you're breaking my heart
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.02.11)
with your tale of your self-imposed woes You can take your entire list and blame it only on yourselves Your lot refused to accept your share of the UN Partition Plan, preferring to attack Israel instead There is no such thing and never was as “1967 Borders”, the proper terminology is the Rhodes Armistice Agreement Lines aka/Greenline..It really doesn’t matter what they were called then or now, in any case your bunch violated them in each and every war and between wars I have asked you time and again to prove your claim to the land, as of this date, you still refuse to answer the easy questions that I had posed
