1. Yet another of Olmert's epic failures
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.04.11)
This project was pushed by Olmert back in his days as Jerusalem mayor. What a waste it's proven. Even the Egged buses of 1971, like the one I used to take along Jaffa, or the #9 that ran up to the Mount Scopus campus, would have left Mr. Spivak in the dust (pun intended). It's not like Jerusalem's light rail involved ground-breaking technology. I rode a similar system in Portland, Oregon in 1993, and it was a popular and very efficient system.
2. I bet
Sagi   (09.04.11)
the streetcars in San Francisco, which are over a hundred years old, operate better than the Jerusalem experiment. I also know that many major towns in Europe have age old systems that operate with great efficiency. This country, this bastion of hi tec, gets nothing right.
3. I am amazed he needed to run
zionist forever   (09.04.11)
I would have thought he would be able to outpace the train just by walking. I think give it a year of operating and then we will know if its been a whole elephant or if it was worth the money and the disruption its been for the residents of Jerusalem.
4. Too bad I didn't beat him to it....
Mitchell Cohen ,   Gush Etzion, Israel   (09.04.11)
....I am a 40 year old with a spare tire stomach and that is about the same pace I run at (maybe a little slower)....It could have been my picture in that photo beating the light rail and becoming instantly famous....:-)
5. Lack of security
Shalom Hartman   (09.04.11)
The light railway is a disaster waiting to happen. I have taken the railway twice a day for 2 weeks and seen 3 security guards in my section of the train since then. Most times there are no guards at the stations whatsoever
