mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (09.03.11)
my Friends in Israel: learn from mistakes, next time video down every single steps of the operations, not just using 1 video camera, but 3 or more, in case any cam spoil during confrontation. even the weapons confiscated must be video down. interrogation of criminals video down... then submit to UN, if UN with all the evidences still doubtful and favoritism towards arabs. then "to Hell with UN"! even if UN don't recognize Israel, there are still righteous people that can see the truth out there! i m one with you. ynetnews, pl post, toda. Sabbath Shalom.

5. un palmer report
ed ,   reno, america   (09.03.11)
this is a joke, but what else do you expect from a biased hypocritical organization. look how long it took them to produce this biased report when all thinking people already knew what they were going to say. they look at the facts then say what their puppet masters, the islamic regimes tell them to say, even though even they know what they are saying is an out and out lie.
6. Marmara was sent by Turkey to cause trouble - they got it.
(09.03.11)
Everyone knows that the Israeli government pleaded with the Turks to stop this boat - but they ignored as it was doing their bidding. Erdogan wanted a problem and got one.
7. Dont you understand?
Ros ,   מודיעין   (09.03.11)
We video'd the raid, which shows clearly, black on white, that IDF soldiers were attacked and beaten and shot, There are more videos of onboard cameras which shows the same, No one is interested in the truth! even if we show a billion vidoes that prove us right, the world will ingore it and will blame us
8. Apologize and move on
Mark Jeffery Koch ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (09.03.11)
Before right wingers encourage a confrontation with Turkey and believe that Israel can defeat anyone consider the facts: Turkey has the second largest standing armed force in NATO. America has the first. Turkey has a million men in its army. Turkey has a population of 70 million people and a fully equipped and well trained army and airforce. Israel fought to a standstill with the 1,000 member terrorist group Hezbollah in 2006. Turkey is not Hezbollah. Please folks. Enough of the "bring it on!" bluster. Israel cannot defeat Turkey in a confrontation. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. Netanyahu should have apologized publicly to Turkey and could have done so without looking weak and this escalating and NEEDLESS confrontation could have been avoided. If Israel allows hotheads like Erdogan and Avigdor Lieberman to rule the day then EVERYONE loses. Arrogance and hubris on BOTH sides is going to lead to a situation that will harm both sides and possibly cause the deaths of innocents on both sides. Now is the time to calm things down. Ratchet down the rhetoric and threats and look towards tomorrow and try to change things for the better or else Israel and Turkey both lose. There are no winners here if this continues to spiral out of control.
9. Turkey is disappointed
Michael ,   NY USA   (09.03.11)
They were hoping for the opposite causualty figures-nine dead Israelis. It is clear Turkeys' ultimate strategic goal is to lead the anti-Israel alliance. The flotilla was the pretext..Has Turkey been lost from the western orbit?

and get that video into media circulation - fast and first. don't sit on it!
11. The recrimanations over the contents of the Palmer report
seadog1946 ,   Erie Basin, NYC   (09.03.11)
will continue but the autopsy reports cast a pall on the "cool professionalism" of the of the obviously surprised and undermanned Israeli unit that was sent to forcefully deter the recalcitrant blockade runners who disregarded the Israelis' "multiple warnings" and consequential threats if those warnings were unheeded. The real-time managers in this situation/incident need a salary/rank readjustment... downward.
12. #8 Mark
David ,   America   (09.03.11)
Spoken like a true left wingnut. May I remind you that major wars are no longer won by boots on the ground. Turkey will be quickly dispatched if they push Isra'el too far.
13. OK, so will the USA apologize ........
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (09.03.11)

14. #13 - The USA? The article is about Israel and Turkey...
seadog1946 ,   Erie Basin, NYC   (09.03.11)
why the deflection to an issue that has nothing to do with this article?
15. Don't hyperventilate!
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (09.03.11)
The Palmer-Report contains 169 items. The whole world seems to be unable to read the report. Item #117 says that the warnings prior to boarding weren't explicit enough. A few lines later the report describes what happened and this also makes clear, that the passengers and the personnel on board of the Mavi Marmara were well aware, that Israeli naval forces were intending to board the ship. Okay, it may have been possible to use a little less force, but whoever reads the report carefully must get the impression, that the forceful resistance applied by the passengers was inappropriate as well. Yes, Israel should meet item #169 169. The Panel recommends that: - An appropriate statement of regret should be made by Israel in respect of the incident in light of its consequences. Well, I believe, Israel already has made a clear statement of regret. The actual problem is that the Turkish leadership seems to be suffering from megalomania. Turkey by any means want's to become an important player. The problem with this is, that it also brings responsibilities. Nobody can negate the hostile behavior of the stateless Arabs leaders. It is not Israels fault, that these People are stateless but it is Israels fault, that the displacement of Jews from Arab countries has been without consequences. The Israeli leadership has a long way to go to make the world aware of the Arabs double standards AND we need to develop methods to communicate our issues to people, who are not interested in history. Most people in Europe don't want to be reminded on the consequences of the two world wars. We need simple messages, that can be kept in simple minds, such as: Israel is a successor state of the failed Ottoman empire. Non of these messages must exceed 10 words. And Turkey also needs a clear message: 1. Israel must make clear, if it wants to continue the blockade. 2. Israel must express clear warnings to all attempting to break the blockade. 3. Israel must escalate the warnings and must present a clear plan to the public, so that everybody can easily guess what consequences it would have, if they cross line. I mean, what would be at 100 nautical miles distance, what at 50 nautical miles and what would happen at 20 nautical miles. Israel must make things very clear and act accordingly. In the recent past, I gained the impression, that Israel always in a way was undecided and hoping.... It never was clearly determined, so that everybody thought twice before they fired missiles or did other nasty things. Israel must prepare some bitter pills and lay them on the table and Israel must stop trying to always be the good guy.

Hezbollah did not use normal military tactics, they dressed like civilians and waged war from civilian populated areas, and it was not lebanon taking us to war. it was Hezbollah.. with Turkey they would not have to guts to start a war with us, turkey is so stubborn.. they now know they were wrong, yet will not apologize to us. it was their citizens attacking on our soldiers trying to kill them. and of the dozen or so that were attacking us only 9 activists of the IHH were killed as those were the ones responsible. as should be held the Turkish government. I think Israel needs to sue the Turkish government for violation of Israels Maratime law...
