Years ago a Turkish friend told me that under the "guidance" of the Islamists Turkey would slowly go the way of becoming a purely Islamic country. All the signs we see now illustrate this slow slide. The army is manhandled into being submissve to the Islamic party, more and more the eyes of the Turkish government look to Iran, the ties with Israel are slowly cut, the entrance into the EC is bitterly fought by most of the Europese population, Let us face it Turkey is a country where minorities are not safe, where religions are not really free, where Kurs OUTSIDE Turkey are killed, and where part of another EU-country is illegally occupied by Turkey. This country, now, can not be part of Europe, is no friend of Israel and no friend of the West any more. Regrets of the EJC deny this truth.
