I have traveled to Israel many times, sometimes with very diverse groups that included people from other ME countries. Security is tight and thorough, but staff have always been courteous and professional. Knowing the threat they are under from their 'neighbors' I fully understand why the security is necessary and appreciate the fact that you are safer when traveling to and from Israel than anywhere else. They have an enviable safety record and should keep doing what they are doing. The Turks are simply looking for excuses to embarrass Israel. They should look to their treatment of the Kurds and Armenians before accusing anyone else. Too bad. We also cancelled our plans to travel to Turkey as have many people we know.

...because that's the only possible way they could know that "only" Turkish passengers were taken aside for questioning. How on earth to they know what's going on in the rest of the airport and who's being questioned??? What a bunch of pathetic losers.. The thorough searches are in order to scare potential terrorists and anyone with nothing to hide should be grateful that their and their loved one's safety is being protected in this way. Everybody knows this and that's why despite the millions of thorough checks, this is the first time any other country is 'reacting' like this.. However, I have no sympathy for the Israelis who travel to Turkey - you're asking for trouble by going to a Muslim country and this would have been on the cards for a long time,. particularly given the fractious relationship since the flotilla..
