1. Only in Israel
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.08.11)
In Israel, Jews and Arabs can live together in peaceful coexistence. If this was Arab rule, the Jew would be dead.
2. Finally some good news gives us all hope
Haim ,   TA   (09.08.11)
3. Say what?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.08.11)
Mea Shearim? Those "Jews" who think that Israel is not "legal" because it was not brought about by divine intervention? Those "Jews" who think the concept of a modern State of Israel should wait for Messianic deliverance? Those "Jews" who petition the king of "Jordan" annually for permission to pray at the Kotel? Those "Jews" who refuse to recognize the modern State of Israel? Kick their asses out of the country. They and their twenty-seven children per family. We have no use for them. Send them to Jordan, where I am sure they will not only be happy, but they will also be FAR much less of a tax burden on hard-working Israelis. Because I so ACHE to financially support perennial Torah "students" who think the State of Israel should not exist until a Messianic deliverance. Kick the Neturei Karta and Satmer out. They are not Jews. THEY ARE NOT JEWS.
4. LOVELY TO SEE!!
Aviva ,   Israel.   (09.08.11)
5. The Bigger Picture
Washington Hts. Girl ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.08.11)
Get rid of the these Arab leaders who spew all the hate, and whip up the propaganda against Jews and Israelis, and you could have more of this type of behavior and kinship between Jew and Arab on a larger scale. Coming from a medical background I found this article very heartwarming and it gave me hope that this nonsense against us Jews/Israelis will finally stop, and the Arabs will realize they have more to gain from being our friend than being our enemy. I pray for that day.
6. Haredim problem with arabs????
David ,   Mea Shearim   (09.08.11)
Haredim and certainly ones from Mea Shearim have never had a problem with arabs, and tend not to involove themselves in politics. Their sole focus is to serve the Creator of this beautiful universe that contains so many different and wonderful species (including arabs). We are instructed to love all human beings including ourselves. Unlike others, who will tend to extend their arm to the enemy because of lack of self acceptance. Stop being embaressed and Be proud of who you are and the whole world will want to be our friend. Perception is projection. Am Yisrael Chai Greetings from Mea Shearim
7. 'A person in danger doesn't care who saves him'
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.08.11)
a person in NO danger , DOES care . sad, isn't it ?!
8. two weirdo's????
tiki ,   belgium   (09.08.11)
Not at all, its called HUMANITY. This goes beyond, politics, religion or hate. Nothing can 'top that. These are the real "beautifull people". Many 'humanitarian' NGO's might take an example.
9. Sinat Hinam?
Mordechai ,   Manchester   (09.08.11)
I may be over sensitive :) but I detect just the slightest hint of sinat hinam in this comment. Not only that but the facts are plain wrong. Naturei Karta is supported by a small minority of Haredim. Satmar hassidim who were active with Naturei Karta and went to Iran, were put in cherem.
10. Sarah B
sarah ,   jerusalem Israel   (09.08.11)
I often agree with you, but on this one you're off-base: the anti-Israel crowd in the chareidi areas are very very small percentage of charedim---most are pro-Israel.
11. wonderful story
fad egypt   (09.08.11)
this story can be used to combat the idea that israel is an apertheid state note his name is fady and my name is fady nice coincedence shalom and god bless israel
12. Now this is what I call a positive example to follow !
Galutia ,   Selah   (09.08.11)
would like to see as an example in Israel....Israelis and palistinians working to gather instead of killing each other.... Bravo ! more !
13. #7 - notice Fadi worked in Haradi neighborhood
William ,   Israel   (09.08.11)
and not one person attacked him for being an Arab. Conversely, Jews would venture into an Arab neighborhood and, despite trying to save a life of an Arab, will get attacked by other Arabs for his religion and ethnicity. sad, isn't it?
14. #3 - sorry, but this doesn't sound like Sarah
William ,   Israel   (09.08.11)
it sounds more like a rabid Leftist trying (poorly) to impersonate her and ruin her reputation as an eloquent and knowledgeable poster here. Not such an uncommon false flag activity by Leftists, sadly. Sarah is smart enough to know that Mea Sharim is not 100% Eda Haradit and anti-Israel religious. She also doesn't use the phrase "say what?". Get a life, douche bag.
15. What's more heartening is that Arabs are volunteering...
William ,   Israel   (09.08.11)
for this Israeli organization. Sadly, due to politics and their own hateful leaders, Arabs have shunned joining groups that result is normalcy and equality with Jews, even if their involvement would be 100% beneficial to their own Arab neighborhood. Take National Service for example. Arab leaders have at times threatened young people NOT to join even though many really want to and consider themselves Israeli citizens.
16. #3 sarah
solomon ,   bklyn   (09.08.11)
The article does not seem to speak of Neturei Karta or Satmer. There are many different 'flavors' of hasidim.
17. #3 where is Neturei Karta mentioned in this article?
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (09.08.11)
I thought you were pro-Israel. Here is something positive and actually promoting PEACE and you go off and say something nasty. NOWHERE does this article mention that Neturei Karta is participating in this project. In all likelihood all 6 of them are off at some anti-Israel protest and they NEVER lift a finger to help anyone. Do you not remember the beat-down that the head of Neturei Karta received from Yehuda Meshi Zahav, the head of ZAKA?
18. An Arab and a haredi are riding a motorbike
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (09.09.11)
B"H - Ynet: "An Arab and a haredi are riding a motorbike." No, this is not the beginning of a joke." - ABY: Yes, it is.
19. #1 Not only in Israel
Borislava ,   Sofia, Bulgaria   (09.08.11)
In Bulgaria, too. This movie has already exist, a great story for perfect harmony among several different ethnic groups in one Bulgarian town. Main characters are Jewish boy and Armenian girl, action takes place in mid 20th century. It isn’t fiction. And always make me cry because I remember my childhood (in Varna). In the class we always had children of 5-6 ethnic groups, some were mixed (like me), but we were friends. When we grew up understood that people hate each other because of ethnicity, religion and other reasons. A great movie and magnificent soundtrack - ”After the End of the World” (1998). At this world we are born, live and die in the same way. Shalom
20. Above politics
Sameer S Reehani ,   Houston,USA   (09.09.11)
I just hope the Prime minister of Israel has time to read this wonderful story, and perhaps can learn a valuable lesson from all of this.It is touching and warm that can certainly tingle our hearts ,indeed.
21. to # 1
Sami ,   GCC   (09.09.11)
Jews were under Arab and Muslim rule for centuries in the holy land and Spain. Remember Maimonides?
22. Re #11 Thank you
Andrew Brehm   (09.09.11)
Salaam and G-d bless Egypt.
23. To No 1 jews were never killed in arab world
mimi   (09.10.11)
Jews lived in Egypt, Tunisia, Iraq...etc and they were never prosecuted...only jews in Europe were!! Anti Semitism is not an arab thing..it is European
24. Jews Enjoyed good life in the Arab World
mimi   (09.10.11)
before the establlishment of Israel in 1948, Palestinians and minority jews enjoyed coexistance together without any problem, it is not until the establishment of the state and the war and what came after....
25. To #3 Sarah
John ,   Alaska   (09.10.11)
Is outreach to these dear fools possible? Logically, studying Scripture should have done this for them several generations ago, but if they have a blind spot that's been taught from generation to generation, someone could teach them what they've been missing. Much like the liberal Jews who work against Israel, there are two solutions. If they leave, Israel has merely lost a possibly dangerous irritant. But if someone could help them understand why they should support Israel, the Jewish state and these dear fools would both benefit.
26. To #14 William - it fooled me
John ,   Alaska   (09.10.11)
but I'm an outsider and not knowledgeable about this. Thanks both to you and to Sarah #10 for setting the record straight.
27. To #24, dear Mimi
John ,   Alaska   (09.10.11)
I wish that were true, my friend. it's late and I'm sleepy and don't want to revisit the awful things I've read about. I want to jump ahead a little, dear friend: one day, you will be right. Jews and Arabs and Europeans and Americans and everyone will have peace. There will be no anti-Semitism or racism of any kind. And people won't learn how to make war any more. g'nite and G-d bless.
28. To Fad
Andy ,   Canada   (09.10.11)
Thank you for your regular posts. I know you are a genuine person and it cheers me up each one I read.
29. #23 Mimi
Yehezel ,   Holland   (09.10.11)
That is just not true. The pogroms in Aleppo, Syria and the riots and killings in Baghdad are just two of the examples of violence against the Dhimmi Jews of the Arab world. Check your history before you make outlandish claims.
30. Mimi and other who don't read history
m   (09.12.11)
PC wishful thinking will not erase history. Why don't you read "From time immemorial" by Joan Peters, then write your nonsense to papers. By the way Iran too had pogroms and killed all the rabbis to destroy Judaism and Torah.
