1. Likes of Barak & Meridor will end Israel
Rachel ,   US   (09.09.11)
These two apologists and defeatists will be the end of Israel.
2. iNTERNATIONAL LAW??
Sammy ,   Ramat Gan   (09.09.11)
"Turkey must understand that like Israel, it isn't above international law " Israel must understand that there IS no "international law" when it comes to Israel. No one is going to protect, support or be nice to Israel. The Palmer report was "international law" at its finest - straight from the UN. So what? Does someone care? Am Levadad Yishkon is both a challenge and a simple fact of life, and the sooner we quit trying to be one of the gang, the sooner we'll be free to do what has to be done for our own good. No one respects a neb.
3. Meridor is smart.
Ram ,   London   (09.09.11)
The Turkish leadership is behaving badly, Israeli silence would show them to be the bigger of the two.
4. WHAT ACTIVIST WOULD GO???????
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.09.11)
Israel as usual, takes the high road, by not letting itself be lured into a war of words. The silence is best, and Turkey continues to look like spoiled little brats, afraid of the truth. Or even worse, bullies who lose want to take revenge and afraid of the truth. Now you have to wonder how many nuts (Activists) will be willing to go into a combat situation, making themselves not protesters, but combatants under the rules of law. Since they will be intending to break a legal blockade, not deliver aid, that will change their status. You can't say your just an activist, when the stated goal is to go into military action. Put simply they become no different than Hamas terrorists, shooting rockets into Gaza. Don't look for 6 ships, look for one small ship. The Palmer report also noted since only 3 ships carried aid, there was no need for the other 3 ships. Plus much of the aid was useless according to the Palmer Report. Again Israel was vindicated, Israel again proved right, and telling the truth about their findings.
5. #1 Rachel
moshe ,   Tivon, Israel   (09.09.11)
Israel has enough unearned enemies jhiz, Iran, and others. Israel does not need to provoke (swaggering) Turkey Meridor was wise in saying "Our silence is the best response. I hope this phenomenon will pass." All those (like #1 Rachel) who use Israel's past or future blockade action of Gaza for bragging rights are WRONG ! moshe
6. #5, disagree
Danny   (09.09.11)
I think Meridor is right because basically none of the threats have any substance and Ankara is clearly trying to get a rise out of Israel. I know Israeli politicians feel the need to talk but silence is the best option here if only because it winds up Erdogan
7. Erdogan wants attention. Don't give it to him.
Keith ,   USA   (09.09.11)
8. Likes of #Moshe will be end of Israel
Rachel ,   US   (09.09.11)
While you're turning the other cheek, your Turkish "friends" are trying to gather names of soldiers involved in flotilla for prosecution. Stop singing blue skies and realize Erdogan is not your buddy.
9. unfit for office
alexi   (09.09.11)
merridor says I hope this will pass in reference to erdogans sanctions and bullying of israel. Al know that merridor while honest is from the ehud olmert school of cowards and weaklings who cannot defend israel so they silence is golden. Sometimes it is and bibi has been silent all this time as turkey storms israel with sanctions and threats. At some point, the party has to say no more to the bully. Merridor says keep quiet and hope for the best. He's a good man but a weakling like olmert, like barak, like lapid and his father, like weisglass who can go to hell for the advice he gave to sharon. At some point, the 98 pound weakling has to build himself up and say no more and fight back to stop the bullying. Merridor can never be leader. Israel gave the keys to barak as leader and this weakling screwed it up big time with concessions not to make peace so much as out of fear.
10. livni turns out to be weakling like olmert
marcel   (09.09.11)
livni wants bibi to fire lieberman for standing israel up like a man. Instead she like merridor wants israel to be silent and hope the bad passes. Now gul says israel is a burden and bibi offered to apologize 4 times but reneged. You see where apologies which I am sure bibi offered because he is nervous got israel, a laughing stock a weakling. Gul the former pm has a habit of say lying like erdogan, and disobeying UN or other laws that they deem wrong because they as moslems can never be wrong. Livni wants to cut a deal with these lying islamics???!! She is as much a shmuck as olmert was and is.
11. Meridor's wise words.
Keren ,   IL-BR   (09.09.11)
Justice will prevail. Let Erdogan grump as much as he wants.
12. Apologize to Turkey today
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (09.09.11)
... and be humiliated again tomorrow.
13. Wise advice!
Ted   (09.09.11)
Anything else is falling into trap of the senseless war of words.
14. For once I have to agree with Meridor
David ,   On this planet   (09.09.11)
Israel should let the Turkish dog bark until his face blows up from anger. Quit giving him treats every time an Israeli personality opens his mouth and tells words of appeasements , the wild dog barks harder, poor humiliated man
15. Ynet Don't you have
Ivan ,   South Africa   (09.09.11)
A newer picture of Erdogan with two little horns coming out of his head...as each day goes by he is behaving more and more like a devil..
16. Indeed, silence is the best response!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.09.11)
17. Good Point
John Point   (09.09.11)
Just like the way you were silent when they marched you into the gas chambers and marched you to the mass gaves and shot you. Yup a bold tried and true plan.
18. Don't Stoop Down to their Level!
Essie HaKohane ,   Florida, USA   (09.09.11)
No response by Israel is a great and appropiate response. It means it is not even worth responding to this country. Turkey tried to modernize itself in the early 20th century. But the country is showing that it cannot shed its feudal, uncivilised, past. Deep down, Turkey is still that corrupt, sable rattling, caliphate. Erdogen may wear nice western suits, but he should really don a Fez!
19. The man is an idiot
PJ ,   US   (09.09.11)
Meridor is what's wrong with the government.tHe is the type who will say you forgot my other cheek, after he has been spit and slapped on one side. Instead of taking the offense and accusing this thug(Erdogan)of being in bed with terrorism ,Israel doesn't respond and the whole world precieves Israel as the culprit and terrorist.
20. Meridor: the man who should be FM
Binyamin zeev   (09.09.11)
And not that boorish thug, childbeater and financial criminal
21. #2
Ahmet ,   istanbul   (09.09.11)
Oh please, " when it comes to israel there is no international law" , " when it comes to israel there is no respect for human life", " when it comes to israel there is no sensible diplomacy, but bullying", " when it comes to israel racism is ok" ... Oh come on, Please do shut up and let people think you are a sane human being!... When it comes to turkey there is no six day war. You wont last that long.
22. 5 Moshe - and you are the reason why Israel is so weak
Eyal ,   USA Israel   (09.09.11)
23. #2 - Totally agree
Eyal ,   USA Israel   (09.09.11)
24. here they are again....
michel ,   france   (09.09.11)
....the appeasers. You will never change the behavior of an authoritarian regime in being nice to them. Like this they only have more contempt for you and become more agressive. If you want to go to a real confrontation, so continue to appease and you will see.Now they want to escort with war ships, tomorow they will survey with the same drones Israel sell to them.
25. Silence
John ,   Herzliya, Israel   (09.09.11)
I agree. Ignore them.
26. "Israel" is above international law!
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.09.11)
If there is any country in the world known for rebuffing UN resolutions with unfailing regularity, it must be "Israel".
27. Silence is the best response to a fool"
mba ,   Israel   (09.09.11)
Not only is silence the best response to a fool, it is also the better part of valor. We should always remember that "No man is an island, entire unto itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main"
28. Meridor is right
Avram ,   USA   (09.09.11)
Some sensible comments from Mr. Meridor. Apologozing wouldn't do any good, but there's no need to shout insults back and forth either.
29. The legality of the naval blockade will be decided by the IC
BDS   (09.09.11)
The Palmer Report is not international law. It's not even a claim to define the law as it itself makes clear on page 8. The legality of the naval blockade will be decided by the ICC and/or ICJ. Even if it is a legal blockade by Israel (which other UN reports deny) other states are legally entitled to ignore it. It is not international law.
30. SILENCE IS BEST RESPONSE
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (09.09.11)
But a smack in the mouth is an even better response.
