So much for the Arab spring . It was always an illusion . At least with Mubarak and the other dictators , you had relative peace and stability . You have to understand that the Arab revolution was never going to lead to democracy . That word is totally alien to the Arab world . There is no such thing . Chances are Libya will turn into another Sudan when the dust settles and Egypt will end up under the MB . Treaties signed 30 years ago will be torn up within 18 months . The mob will rule the street and there will be further coups . We were lucky to get 30 years relative calm . To sum up , the Arab spring can be viewed thus . The only consideration is how it impacts on Israel . At this moment it's looking decidedly bleak . What it does for the Arabs is of no interest .

I am not a fan of big government, and particularly the big brother culture that some countries embrace. But, "Arab Spring" seems to have produced little more than anarchy. Egypt's 80 million person population has gained little, if anything, in its' struggle for democracy. Egypt is in no way alone, joining such infamous ranks as Lebanon, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan and other nations where organized government has lost control, credibility and responsibility. To be sure, the poison hands of Iran and Syria are likely to be involved, having seized the opportunity. Eventually, you have to blame the the government leaders, for being so inept, so ineffectual, and so corrupt, as to squander any opportunity to deliver effective leadership. From within this vacuum, the seeds of anarchy have blossomed. If this has taught us anything, then the same lessons, the same risks, and the same outcomes need to be applied to a potential Palestinian state. Nothing is better proof than the forced takeover of Gaza by Hamas. The leadership vacuum, resulted in seizure by a barbaric terrorist group. The best posture for our Israeli leaders? It doesn't exist. Left or right, hawks or doves, will never be an effective tool against this kind of anarchy. The answer is, has been, and will be Arab and Muslim responsibility. It looks like the rational western world including us (Israel) lost the rational sense and wisdom. We are just trying to delay the clash with the Muslims who are trying to exterminate us.
