31. Not from Iberia
El-Nakam ,   TA, Israel   (09.11.11)
#5, Rav Ovadia Yosef is from Iraq. The Iraqi Jews never went through Iberia.

35. somebody put a cork in this guy's mouth ASAP...
Rafi ,   US   (09.11.11)
... this is the last thing this crisis needs is high religious "leaders" pouring fuel on the fire. The individuals who could most immediately suffer are the Turkish Jewish community. Nice job Rabbi -we really needed this. By the way... the logic in your statement is totally divorced from reality... You cite two examples of God rescuing the Jews (Egypt and Persia) over 3000 yrs ago.. which may or may not have actually occurred in the way portrayed. Meanwhile the intervening 3000 yrs between then and now have been filled with massacre and annihilation of our people, culminating with the Shoah. Was God out of town during those countless tragic events? This is who you are counting on to save you from Turkey?? Some of our Jewish religious "leaders" are no different than the imams and ayatollahs - all of them should be put on an island away from innocent humanity that they continue to try to poison and manipulate.
36. THE RABBI
HERMIE ,   USA PA   (09.11.11)
Compared with what Erdogan and the Gul utter this Rabbi is moderate. Those 2 want Israel to grovel and apologize to no end.. The nasty things and the stupid remarks that Erdogan made about his warships escorting flotillas had the US and Israel and NATO warning them about starting a war which would emabarass a military that is little better than inept Pakistan's. THE RABBIS RANTS ..BIG DEAL!
37. The only thing separating Israel from
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (09.11.11)
complete victory over their enemies is those in power who don't represent the future, they don't represent Torah and they don't have one gram of faith. We should be talking about the return of Syria, Egypt and Jordon for peace, not Judea and the Samaria.
38. #15
observer ,   Egypt   (09.11.11)
His family had never been in Spain, he abhors Sephardim. Ovadia is abhorrent to human equality, forbidding to be merciful to Arabs, abhorring North African minhagim; a racist Molotov cocktail
39. Amen!
maskim   (09.11.11)
40. Isn't the story about "Turkey-Lurkey" not "Turkey-Burkey"?
Scott ,   USA   (09.12.11)
At least that's the way the story went when I was a kid...
41. He did say "I will bless those that bless you and..."
Nabuquduiuzhur ,   Oregon, USA   (09.12.11)
"I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” And that is how it's been for 4000 years. The Greeks under Alexander. Medo-Persians. Both empires did well when they treated Israel well. And did poorly when they didn't. The Spanish were blessed becoming a world empire. Until they became anti-semitic and then England became dominant. The English were blessed when they took Israel in, until they turned on Israel. Their empire practically evaporated. Turkey? Turkey has apparently forgotten how bad things were before Attaturk. No nationalistic ambition of theirs can possibly create that they had under the Ottomans.
42. This Rabbi is funny :)
Joel Friedman ,   Medford, OR   (09.12.11)
Israel was under Turkish rule for 700 years. My Rabbi should teach your rabbi a bit about the Torah. Rabbi Ovadia Yosef is talking just like Muslim Imams and Mullahs. Shame on him. He needs to be grateful to the Turks for saving as many Jews Turks saved during WW II. My father escaped to Turkey and taught physics at a university there until the end of the war and the Turks stood firm against Hitler. The Turks helped us in 1492 as well by their declaration of war against Spain and France. They guaranteed our safe passage to Thessaloniki. This Rabbi is an imam or mullah in a rabbi clothing. I am sorry but we don't bu your ungrateful speech and racist comments. May Hashem show you the truth
43. Israel need not worry...
Daniel Amos ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.11.11)
... for the Guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. Shalom Yisrael
44. Give credit where credit is due
Israeli 2   (09.11.11)
The Rabbi is right and may his prayers and statements be fortified by the Almighty. God Bless Am Yisrael!
45. Turkey will go down in history as the land of hatred and
Frank ,   USA   (09.12.11)
violence. Congratulations! Well done!

i would vote for him
47. political correctness is a Leftist disease!
(09.11.11)
48. This guy is the real deal
Eyalon   (09.11.11)
He is a real jew. Not a namby-pamby wishy-washy inter-faith pinko, but a red-blooded jew who speaks what every jew would like to say in public, but keeps in his heart for fear of looking politically incorrect. Who gives a fig about the Turks? yeah let them perish and let the world see that G-d looks after His people.
49. GOD SAVE ISRAEL AND GREECE!
YORGOS ,   ATHENS GREECE   (09.11.11)
50. Yosef's curse
Yosef ,   USA   (09.12.11)
Yosef asks God to do his dirty work. God hears Yosef's message, yawns, gets bored and instructs Grabriel to put Yousef's (bag of hot air in a clown suit or did he borrow it from Ringling Bros) messages to go directly into the trash folder.
51. #25 - The rabbi
Ken ,   Australia   (09.11.11)
He is a great man, a fantastic holy man , you need to know, there is no comparison to him, He speaks from truth, The Torah. Let all the haters of israel burn, but remember #25, not everone in the world hates the jews, there are many more people on this earth that hate you and your nasty psychotic mentality.
52. The only way to thank Turkey's bunch of lies...
Alejandro Ramos ,   Mexico City   (09.12.11)
The only way to thank Turkey's bunch of lies is what the rabbi just did: replying with the truth... GOD BLESS HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE!!! THE ONLY TRUE GOD, THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB!!!
53. Sickening!!!!
(09.11.11)
54. #15 Rabbi Ovadia is from Baghdad; not Istanbul
Sami ,   New York, USA   (09.12.11)
#15 Rabbi Ovadia is from Baghdad; not Istanbul. You Turks occupied Iraq; remember.
55. Racist God Almighty's son
observer ,   Egypt   (09.11.11)
Ovadia said: "We have God Almighty and we are his sons. The one who defeated Pharaoh, Egypt and Haman – will defeat all of Israel's enemies." What kind of religious leader to pray openly for the death of Muslims in Iraq, Iran and Egypt. believe it or not Iraqi Ovadia's name was Abd Allah (slave of Allah).
56. Stern Cop
Adam Neira ,   Melb, Australia   (09.12.11)
Rabbi Ovadiah is playing the stern cop role. Turkey does have a Jewish community he must remember. His mocking of the Turkey name is adolescent behaviour. The leaders of Israel must do everything in their power to reach out to other nations in a spirit of mutual trust. The light will go forth from Jeruselem if it is allowed to. The fact that PM Erdogan is travelling to Cairo could be a positive.
57. Shas rabbis have no self-respect
Michael ,   Haifa   (09.12.11)
58. Stupid old man
steven ,   Tel-aviv   (09.12.11)
Who gave you the right to speak in gods name
59. 58 Stupid Response!
S Judah ,   London   (09.12.11)
What's your problem Buddy's can't see the wood for the trees? Can't you see we have a problem with Turkey. The Rabbi asks God to help us. Funny thing, I thought that was what religious people do and Rabbi's in particular. And your response? That's an additional Al Het for you trhis Yom Kippur and get cracking and join the Sephardim in Selhot right away.
60. Uigly comments in the name of G-d
avram ,   jerusalem   (09.12.11)
All religious extremists are dangerous especially when their followers are told and actually believe that every word they speak is in the name of G-d. Most Israeli's strongly disagree. We need to rebuild our relationship with Turkey not insult them, and, live in peace.
