1. NYT's and DISNEYLAND
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.12.11)
The problem, is the premise that there is a "moderate" Palestinian leadership. There isn't! The NYT's belief in that, is proof of their gullibility, and the nonsense people are willing to go to, for peace. There is only a difference in tactics, Hamas would use unrelenting violence (but only as long as Israel is willing to not take off the gloves). Fatah would use Taqiyya, pretend to be moderate, get as much land as possible through negotiation, then use violence to take the rest. Anybody who thinks different lives in LaLa land. Both Charters still call for the destruction of Israel. The new fake unity government is a joke. Hamas has stated numerous times since the formation that it will not recognize Israel or negotiate with Israel, and still wants to destroy Israel. In July Hamas shot roughly 60 rockets at Israel, in August another 178 more rockets were fired at Israel. Just a couple of weeks ago 8 Jewish civilians were murdered in another terrorist attack. Yet the NYT's is blaming the USA, the EU and Israel for the failure, go figure? It's hard to argue with that kind of moronic logic.
2. Move all the pals to NY city
Sick of NYT ,   Israel   (09.12.11)
let's see YOU live in peace with them. So easy to give "solution" from across the ocean.
3. The online version is a concise and to-the-point editorial
seadog1946 ,   Arthur Kill, NJ   (09.12.11)
that revealed nothing new and gave the impression, by the lackluster performance of the current US administration, that US is still basically biased toward Israel. The most interesting part of the editorial was a sidebar link to the higly detailed content of the interactive maps. It would have been interesting to see the PA's map showing their version of a future Palestine's borders.
4. Goobly Gook intended to deceive the reader
Jonny ,   Cape Town   (09.12.11)
Funny thing about newspaper editors and editorials - In hindsight, they can always say "Oops I made a mistake" and suffer no futher damage (or get promoted to a higher position). Unforunately, the reality on the ground for those involved is far more damaging. The statement that Abbas is the most moderate palestinian leader is in itself an exercise in duplicity by the author of the editorial. Its like saying that Assad is a more moderate dictator then Saddam as his forces have butchered less of his citizens. Note that the editorial did not say that Abbas is a "moderate" palestinian leader, bit "more moderate" which in itself is totally gobbly gook, and designed to deceive and bamboozle the reader inot thinking something totally different.
5. The New York Times says ....
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (09.12.11)
That's when I stop reading. Directly into the garbage where it belongs. Even Al-Ahram gives Israel more support than the New York Times.
6. Again the New York Times from far away New York
tiki ,   belgium   (09.12.11)
Isn't it wonderfull to give solid advise from an office in New York, without bearing the consequenses or the responsibilities. The New York times should give some advise on how to get Americans back to work, how to reduce the US-Debt and how to revive Detroit and other towns & suburbs from the 'ghost towns they have become, etc.etc.etc.
7. Dear NYT, "Israel" prefers Hamas to Pal-moderate leadership.
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.12.11)
I hope the United States will do the right thing and support this bid by the Palestinian people to be the 194th State. There is no reason on this earth why they should not be accepted. The USA is hypocritical to deny freedom to Palestine. it would look like that US. has not learnt anything from the arab spring .
8. who cares
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (09.12.11)
There is so much wrong with the NYT opinion, let's just look at one point. It does not matter if Abbas is moderate or not (his support for child murderers indicates he is not), what matters is that he is spitting in Obama's face. Obama is pledged to the "process" and past agreements that all talk about negotiations. When Abbas refused to negotiate, Obama stepped in and negotiated with Netanyahu instead. By going to the UN, Abbas is saying that American pledges are worthless and Obama's word is as valuable as something you clean off your shoe. Obama has to veto Abbas.
9. Indeed, the US, EU and Israel are responsible for... not
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.12.11)
placing enough pressure on the PLO/PA to come to the negotiation table clean handed, in good faith and without preconditions. And, it is the PLO/PA "moderate" leader who is to blame for refusing to accept a peace treaty as the end of the conflict and the end of all future demands of the nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel. And, finally, it is the NYT to blame for siding with those who still adhere to the Charters that call for Israel's demise and the demise of all traces of Jewish existence anywhere between the River and the Sea...!!
10. NYT and Netanyahu
Michael ,   Haifa   (09.12.11)
A newspaper that reads Netanyahu like an open book. Netanyahu doesn't want negotiations with the Palestinians. Even if the Palestinians brought a motion to the United Nations based on Netanyahu's Bar Ilan speech, Netanyahu, and certainly Liebermann would run to the Americans in order to beg for their support to vote against it
11. Ah. No body can force or convince Netanyuh
john ,   cardiff   (09.12.11)
It appears a futile exercise to convince PM and FM of Israel on any international or domestic issue. Either the whole World is wrong or there is something wrong with both the PM and FM of Israel.
12. Message to Ynet
Gábor Fränkl   (09.12.11)
Where are the occasional Israel-supporting op-eds and editorials in the even more important and prestigeous "The Washington Post" newspaper? So it's not in your interest to write/report on them in order to show the current Israeli government in bad light on account of a far-Left, hate-filled American paper that has long lost its legitimacy that is the twins of your worldview and ideological outlook?
13. Note to readership, commentariat, part II.
Gábor Fränkl   (09.12.11)
Ynet is just as much disgusting, devious, neferious and for the most part (often hysterically) anti-Israel, i.e.: wanting the absolute worst for Israel amid all and any circumstances, its own country, as the NYT.
14. Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Scared in Israel   (09.12.11)
What will we do now????? A bunch of editorial writers from a paper that has been almost universally wrong in its editorials concerning the Mideast has blamed Israel. We might as well close up the country and give back the keys.
15. NYTimes criticizes Israel
Lauren ,   Israel   (09.12.11)
The New York Times editorial policy has been almost entirely anti Israel for as long as I can remember. What is more disturbing is that the news reporting in the New York Times reflects this bias and presents distorted facts and anti - Israel perspectives as professional journalism.
16. PRAVDA-ON-THE-HUDSON
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (09.12.11)
The New York Times has all the credibility of the Soviet-era Pravda. It's America's version of Haaretz. It's really pointless to analyse in detail or refute the crap that they regularly print. It's not really a newspaper, it's a Leftist propaganda outlet. This Pravda-clone has been anti-Israel & even anti-Jewish since day one of it's existence. Hopefully, they will soon be out of business.
17. NYT also suffering from American malaise: mediocrity
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.12.11)
The NYT editorial is more of the same, and I personally did expect anything more. The influence of the Tom Friedmans and Roger Cohens is quite evident. To remind Ynet readers: Friedman said that "Hama Rules" apply to Israel. I'll spare you the explanation only to say that looking at Syria and looking at Israel the difference is quite obvious and it sticks out like a sore thumb that Israel does NOT use Hama Rules. But that is 2ndary to the NYT, which says Bibi makes any excuse to avoid talks. Funny, but this is the same Bibi who froze settlements for almost a year, while the Palestinians refused to negotiate - yet no mention of this fact at all in the editorial. Then there's the old "Israeli war crimes" red herring that the NYT raises yet again. Oy vay, the Pals will pursue more war crimes charges at the ICC...ignoring the fact that major human rights organizations like Amnesty Intl concluded that Palestinian POLICY is to carry out war crimes against Israeli civilians. The NYT then fluffs off the demand for Israel's recognition as a "Jewish state". The anti-Israel bias is clear. The NYT like most leftists and liberals would have no problem with the statement "Palestinian is the national homeland of the Palestinian people." Yet these same people choke on the equally valid sentence "Israel is the national homeland of the Jewish people."
18. Simple reply
M.J. Eizen ,   Petah Tikvah, Israel   (09.12.11)
There is a simple reply to this editorial. President Obama asked for, and received an agreement by Israel to stop construction for 10 months. For 9 months, the Palestinians did nothing. In the 10th month, they asked for continuation of the freeze. Why did they not start negotiations as soon as the freeze was enforced? Answer: Bad Faith.
19. New York Times
H2M ,   Boston, MA   (09.12.11)
As usual, the Times is way off base when it comes to Israel, but the silver lining in the cloud is that the editorial board is finally turning on Obama.
20. NY Times
Carl ,   Marblehead USA   (09.12.11)
Please don't move them to NYC. They already have Jordan, Lebanon, and Detroit.
21. NYT is a Joke
Eli ,   New York   (09.12.11)
Nobody cares about that stupid paper and YNET should not even mention it, who cares what the NY Nazi Times has to say it's like Haaretz a bunch of zombie self hating Jews who wouldnt see the danger even if a knife was at their throat.
22. nyt
IRV ,   USA   (09.12.11)
Yes the pals can pursue one of their nefarious goals of taking Israel or should we say Jews to the international court. We will be the case following the NYT,the UN, and the pal leadership who do more to foment and create war than any other entities in the world.
23. Same old New York Times
DavidM ,   USA   (09.12.11)
The NY Times editorial is nothing new from the Times. During the Holocaust the New York Times refused to publicize the atrocities against Jews and buried reports of it. Times columnist Roger Cohen vigorously defended the regime in Iran and denied that anti-Semitism exists there. It is no surprising the the Times has lost many readers and had to be bailed out or face bankruptcy.
24. One wonders, why doesn't the NYT refuses to read and
JBI ,   Israel   (09.12.11)
share with its readers a good analysis of the Charters of the PLO, Fatah, PFLP, Hamas, IslmicJihad?
25. NY Times, Haaretz, what's the difference?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.12.11)
When I was first in Israel long ago, some were referring to Haaretz as "Israel's New York Times". Today we could the Times "America's Haaretz" - sam Israel-bashing nonsense, same left-wing slant. Curious that both papers have lost readership, and both are losing money. Apropos, has Tom Friedman apologized for getting the "Arab Spring" so wrong? He has not.
26. The NY Times is Trash
Rafael ,   Yerushalayim, Israel   (09.12.11)
27. Never ever imagined NYT would stoop so low
Samuel ,   Israel   (09.12.11)
What a shame for an esteemed newspaper like the NYT to stoop so low.I think the entire staff including the editor should take an intensive course on Middle East History. They have not learned from their own experience ( 9/11) in dealing with hate killing terrorist. Disgusting!!!
28. To NYT: An ultimatum is not compromise
Isaac Storm   (09.12.11)
It seems kind of odd to me that the NYT is telling Israel to compromise to an ultimatum. Here all this time I thought the purpose of negotiations was to negotiate.
29. israel
Hadad Calin ,   satu mare Romania   (09.12.11)
I hope that Israel to find peace and Israel`s enemies once and for all to be defeated , Israel is the land promised by God Himself for the jews I hope that God gives to the israeli people strength and wisdom in these difficult moments , when enemies lurk at the gates of the country I am hebrew from europe , and if I could help from this part of the world I woulf do anything to help Israel ! I hope that all the Hebrew in the world to unite and if Israel calls them to come to fight if necessary
30. NYT is finally telling the truth about US & Israel
christianpalestinian ,   bethesda, maryland   (09.12.11)
Bravo to the NY Times!
