fad egypt   (09.13.11)
someone tells these people that the settlements are legal according to the international law the establishment of a jewish national homeland in what is called the land of palestine was approved by the league of nations in 1923 by the majority of more than 50 countries , and it was approved later by the UN , also there was agreement between emir abdallah ibn elhussein and haim weizman in paris in 1919 and also in 1922 in jerusalem that palestine will be the jewish homeland so the existence of the jewish communities is legal according to the international laws and according to the international agreements PM netanyahu must annex judea and samaria and defend the legality of the jewish communities there shalom
2.  We are ready! no problem.
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.13.11)
Not only the selttlers, ALL of "Israel" must prepare itself. "Israeli" violence and aggression against Palestine, a UN member state will warrant condemnations, possibly sanctions & referrals to the ICC! Yesssssssssss : )
3. You had better behave, settlers!
Nour ,   One-State   (09.13.11)

Michael ,   Haifa   (09.13.11)
It will be interesting to see if your learned argument will hold water when the first settlers are justifiably hauled before the ICC
6. San Remo 1920 ansd UN resol 242

7. The only solution.
Jules   (09.13.11)
1) The "West Bank Palestinians" are JORDANIANS - return them their legal citizenship 2) The "Gazans" are EGYPTIANS - return them their legal citizenship 3) Both must be helped with repatriation: why would they want to live under "cruel Zionist oppression" ?

Mr. Obvious   (09.13.11)
It's nice to see someone from Egypt with that type of viewpoint and if your also a Arab that's also extremely amazing with which the clarity you see the truth thanks for speaking up.
9. #1 typical pro-Zionist.
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.13.11)

10. NOW IT IS ENOUGH ...
FO ,   Belgium   (09.13.11)
The main goal of ACRI should have been to defend the rights of Israeli citizens living in Judea and Samaria. Those people are living there in FULL accordance of INTERNATIONAL LAW, due to the decision of the LEAGUE OF NATIONS, voted the 24th of July 1922 by all its 51 members, and REAFIRMED thanks to Article 80 of the CHARTER of the UNITED NATIONS. Mr. D. Ayalon took the iniative to make a remarkable video item about the subject. The problem is that this intiative seems to be a private one and that the Israeli government does not have the guts to adopt it as its own policy. Well handled, Israel's LEGAL RIGHTS could have blocked the Palestinian bid at the UN. Why hasn't it not be done? WHY???
11. to #2 salma and #3 nour
fad egypt   (09.13.11)
israel will survive forever despite all the obstacles and all its enemies you must remember what happened in 1948 , 1967 and 1973 in each war israel was surrounded by the arabs forced which were much larger than the israeli forces but despite that israel was victorious not because israel is smart but because god hands helped it to acheive the victory so anyway israel will win and defeat its enemies
12. Seriously.
Jules   (09.13.11)
ALL "settlers" must be given M-16 and as much ammo as they can store in their homes. The Jihad will stop at NOTHING - can't you see it, people ? PM Netanyahu, you are a true SOLDIER. I trust the RED BUTTON is firmly in YOUR hands. May G-d grant courage to the State of Israel and her people. "Never again" is the most important slogan today, since the Holocaust.
13. A good legal system's doomed if used by irrational people
Edward ,   Sydney, Australia   (09.13.11)
European social security is generous because it was designed and built on european values. When irrational people from the third world came and had 10 babies per woman while the husband works for cash and pays no tax, the abuse spun the system out of control, rendering it a train reck. Same happens with legal systems. This is why oppressive dictatorships are the only model that can work in some societies.
14. That's very great!
Can ,   Istanbul   (09.13.11)

Alf Red ,   Lvov, Ukraine   (09.13.11)
Michael, what do you do in Haifa? Waiting to meet Salma with open embrace and be surprised when she cuts off your head, you MORON? Go live in beautiful and VERY LEGAL Ramalla, they are always happy to meet Jewish morons, useful idiots. Your talkbacks make me feel like vomiting - why there are morons like you among us, Jews. But then - how do I know you are Jewish? Some "Bahai" half-wit working non-stop to help murderers to get rid of Israel? I wouldn't be surprised at all...
16. POINT IS MOOT
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.13.11)
Since we all know the USA will veto this bid, the point is moot. But look the Arabs can do do what they always do. Not accept the veto by USA and declare that's it's invalid. Just like Turkey "dismissed" the Palmer Report. After all if an Arab/Muslim country doesn't like the outcome just ignore it. That is exactly what happened in 1947 at the UN. The UN voted in favor of the partition plan. Israel accepted it, the Arabs rejected it and went to war with Israel. So why should they change. The Arabs have done whatever they want at the UN for over 60 years. The cherry pick what to accept, and ignore everything else.
17. PA's bid will lead to conviction of Palestinian leaders
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.13.11)
Once they are recognized as a "nation", they'll be liable for their actions. This means that both Hamas and Fatah leaders will be forced to stand trial for their war crimes. A great way of getting out the old leadership and bringing in new, young leaders. Unless, of course, the young leaders still believe the Arab propaganda that war crimes against Jews are ok. Your Honor, as my first witness I call the head of Amnesty International to testify against the Palestinians: "Whether or not attacks actually result in civilian casualties, they are in violation of international law, which also prohibits attacks aimed at spreading terror among the civilian population. The patterns of attacks and statements by members and leaders of Palestinian groups also indicate that they have no qualms about launching attacks against civilians and that they in fact carry out such attacks intending to kill and injure Israeli civilians. Such attacks constitute war crimes." Amnesty International July 2, 2009
18. ICC proceedings
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (09.13.11)
Great idea to haul the settlers or at least their leaders in. But this is insufficient. All the Zionist leadership needs to be hauled into the ICC for continuing the operation of the state that David Ben-Gurion illegally founded in 1948. BG himself is gone, but his successors are available to give a full accounting and receive punishment.

The bible says that as long there is still day and night so ISRAEL shall be a NATION. Whether you believe in the bible or not thats your problem
20. Of course, ethnic cleansing of Jews is always legal
Steve From Raleigh   (09.13.11)
Ethnic cleansing of Jews is not only legal according to 'international law' it's encouraged.
21. A non event
Robert ,   Australia   (09.13.11)
Another non-story as Obama will use the US power of veto to quash the bid for nationhood. It's not going to happen. What will happen is even more troubling.
22. News bulletin: Israel is *not* a signatory to ICC
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (09.13.11)
Israel elected *not* to sign on to the ICC treaty, thus is *not* subject to its authority. So what if someone files a complaint with the ICC. Who's going to enforce its "summons to appear" - the PA? The Border Police?
23. Deceitfully called Arab-Israeli Conflict, it's Global Jihad
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (09.13.11)
against Israel and the entire Free World. Every Israeli Land surrender results in vastly increased Islamic terror and war! The murderous peace process: Land for War! As a result of Israeli land surrenders, every Israeli is under missile threat from either Hizbullah or Hamas, or both. Demanding a Muslim terror state reducing tiny Israel at mid-section to 9 miles wide indefensible, Auschwitz borders is wickedly seeking a Second Holocaust! Stop the planned Second Holocaust! Not one inch of Jewish Holy Land to genocidal Muslims!
24. Before 1948, Jews were KNOWN as the Palestinians
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (09.13.11)
The Jewish newspaper, the Jerusalem Post was called the Palestine Post. The Jewish-founded electric company was Palestine Electric. The Palestinian Symphony Orchestra was all Jewish. During World War II, the British army had a Palestinian Brigade made up entirely of Jewish volunteers. After Jews migrated to Palestine in significant numbers in the late 1800s and miraculously transformed desert and swamps into rich, agricultural land, Arabs came in large numbers from Arab countries for jobs from Jews. The fact that the overwhelming majority of Arabs resided only briefly in Palestine is attested to by a one-time special UN decree: that any Arab who had resided in Palestine for only two years before 1948, and then left, would be considered a refugee and so would his descendants! Throughout history, people were never regarded as refugees if they had resided in a country for only two years because they were clearly citizens of other countries!

27. Palestinians Qualify for Statehood?
Beth Goodtree ,   NYC, USA   (09.13.11)
I thought one of the qualifications for statehood was to be self-supporting AND self-sufficient? The Pals are neither. First, they are the all-time highest recipient of international welfare EVER! They have been parasitically living off of other people's hard-earned money since their inception in 1964. Second, they DEPEND upon Israel for everything from material support to utilities support to jobs support. I say, give them their ill-deserved statehood and cut off ALL assistance -- be it economical or anything else. And then we can rejoice in their immediate collapse and hopeful annhilation from within -- just proving that they never did deserve statehood, and ridding the world of an entire country of terrorist haters who have been sucking off the Western world's jugular for nearly 50 years, all the while preaching hatred and murder against both Christians and Jews.
28. Oh, I don't think so
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.13.11)
For one thing, a General Assembly resolution is nonbinding and unenforceable. The United States has already stated unequivocally that it will veto any Security Council resolution attempting to confer statehood. Judea and Samaria are non-sovereign territories, and the United Nations therefore has no jurisdiction. The ONLY country that would remotely have standing to bring issues before the ICC and ICJ is Israel, because Israel effectively controls all of the West Bank. Given the quantity and the severity of terrorist attacks, it is something that Israel might seriously wish to consider doing.
