1. The author is 100% correct
Sagi   (09.18.11)
If things continue as they are today, Israel, as a free Nation in its sovereign land will no longer exist within a maximum of fifty years from now. We shall not only all be drinking sea water but the Mediterranean will be polluted. I am so sorry that I have to take this attitude and express myself in such a way because I have always been very loyal to my Country and my People but the truth must be stated. We are not only heading for disaster, we are already well on the road and fast running out of steam.
2. israel's borders
joel ,   usa   (09.18.11)
well, there are leaders in israel who are "real estate brokers", they exchanged lands with political survival, its time the people should wake up, ok?
3. America is Israel
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.19.11)
4. A question to Mr. Misgav
Eric ,   Toonto   (09.19.11)
And what would you do with the millions of Arabs living in the West Bank? If israel annexed the West Bank as you are suggesting the Arab population mass of Israel would reach a critical level, and given the Arabs' birth rate, Israel's future would be in danger. And please don't tell us that there is no concern about demographics here. Because saying that would misleading people.
5. I TOTALLY AGREE...!!!
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (09.19.11)
The "peace process" and the land for peace madness are the strategy of Israels enemies, to finally achieve their evil goal: THE DESTRUCTION OF THE JEWISH STATE...!!!! The Oslo accords have been forced upon Israel and they have been accepted by flawed politicians...! Judea and Samaria MUST be annexed in order to secure the survival of the Jewish state ! The option to create a second "Palestinian" state west of the Jordan river has to be strictly limited to the territory of the Gaza strip.
6. ISRAEL IS A FOLLY!!
yousuf ,   USA   (09.19.11)
Israel has no right over other people lands. Arabs are legitimate inhabitants and rulers of Arab land. NOT EUROPEANS AND RUSSIANS. like leiberjunk.
7. People have been saying this for YEARS!
Ben ,   Boston Ma   (09.19.11)
Once you have annexed the state and the millions of Palestinians cant move back, it would never be an issue. Palestinian Birthrates have scared Jews the world over for years and yet they never seem to catch up to Israel population wise. Also, if and when Israel takes over lands that are rightfully hers, and instills a western economy and values, the Palestinian birthrate (at least in Israeli controlled territory) will plummet. Maybe you should make Aliyah?
8. middle east etc...
sjoerd ruurd van der ,   mankindnation/land..   (09.19.11)
at first it is to the palestinian people to decide, whether they want not a state or they want a state, as it is for every people. it is also to the palestinian people to say, where they want to live. jordan is not palestine, or another state, vice versa, in reverse. jordan is jordan, vice versa etc.
9. @ #4
B ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.19.11)
Evict them and then erase any remnants, buildings, roads, cemetaries, etc
10. Living in crazy land
Gabriel ,   Tel Aviv   (09.19.11)
This is some ridiculous right-wing fantasy. The Palestinians and the world will never accept the annexation of the West Bank. Never. So, if Israel does do that, it will face international sanctions, boycotts, and other measures which would decimate Israel.
11. "International Conventions"
Alex ,   Canada   (09.19.11)
The author refers to "international conventions that designated the whole of the Land of Israel, on both sides of the Jordan River for a Jewish home" Of course he provides no evidence of this ludicrous claim, because none could be found. I have studied international law (both in Israel and Canada) and there is no convention that even comes close to suggesting that Jordan should be part of a Jewish home. Mr. Misgav should brush up on the basics before he starts making these nonsensical arguments.
12. Utter nonsense
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (09.19.11)
Dr. Misgav: As a fellow law academic, I am appalled that you would subscribe your name to this kind of drivel, let alone actually author it. Jordan is NOT Palestine and, regardless of how much it is repeated Goebbels-style, never will be. The Palestinians don't want it to be, the Jordanians don't want it to be. Such a notion has no more bearing on international law or on morality, for that matter, than saying that New York is Israel. Please do not embarrass yourself or our nation like this.
13. Annexation
Don ,   Nitro, USA   (09.19.11)
Israel should have annexed the West Bank in the same way it annexed the Golan Heights a long time ago. It would have prevented a lot of the current problems.
14. Problem is...
Dave from Brazil ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (09.19.11)
what is Israel supposed to do with the Arabic-speaking Muslim and Christian people who live in Judea and Samaria?
15. #3 - Benassi
Devorah   (09.19.11)
I wondered what your problem is, and it turns out that you bought into British Israelism. No wonder you are so haughty.
16. Annex and give the Palestinians Israeli Citizenship?
Sue ,   USA   (09.19.11)
17. There was no Israel also
Samira ,   Amman - Jordan   (09.19.11)
I think King Abdallah now knows you Haim Misgav.... you will have to face the consequences.... you can't just play games with the destiny of nations. Palestinians are not Jordanians unless you as a Jew will go back to your origin country ...... you ancestors 200 years ago were never in Palestine.
18. CREATION OF JORDAN ILLEGAL & IMMORAL.
IamJoseph ,   Sydney   (09.19.11)
The corruption of the Balfour remains the greatest Post-W.W.II crime, perpetrated under extreme duress when the Jews were totally helpless - for 30 barrels of oil. Jordan is also in violation of the only condition of its creation: to house the Arabs of Palestine. Britain is guilty.
19. Eric #4 simple answer
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.19.11)
Those people are JORDANIAN citizens. We have a peace treaty with Jordan and they renounced all claim to any land west of the Jordan River. So we send the illegal squatters across the river to their homeland.
20. mandatory palestine
moron ,   galut   (09.19.11)

23. "The Land of Israel" was the true destination
seadog1946 ,   Arthur Kill, NJ   (09.19.11)
of Father Abraham's trek, from Ur to Caanan, which proves conclusively that the ancient Israelites were a unique and exceptional race that spontaneously appeared in the vicinity of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, etc.
24. To: Eric at No. 4
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.19.11)
Eric, Jordan passed a citizenship law in 1954 which conferred Jordanian citizenship upon all West Bank Arabs and their progeny irrevocably. The Arabs living in Judea and Samaria are, therefore, Jordanian citizens. When -- and it is "when," as opposed to "if" -- Israel annexes Judea and Samaria, all those Jordanian citizens wil be repatriated to the country of their citizenship. Interestingly, in 1970 Jordan attempted to revoke its 1954 citizenship law and the International Court in The Hague ruled that bestowing citizenship irrevocably was exactly that -- irrevocable. The Arabs living in the West Bank are Jordanian citizens. They will be repatriated. They present no demographic threat to Israel.
25. Right on! Annex Judea/Samaria NOW.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.19.11)
The author is 100% correct. There already is a Palestinian state called Jordan. Moreover, Jordan occupies 78% of the land intended for the Jewish Mandate. Judea and Samaria legally belong to Israel as countless legal scholars have incontrovertibly proven. Let us now belatedly do what we should have done in 1967. Annex Judea and Samaria NOW!
26. #4 Eric - The Allenby Bridge is open
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (09.19.11)
They are quite free to head to Jordan, which is 77% of Mandate Palestine, that the Brits swiped and gave to Emir Abdullah of Arabia, for his help during World War One
27. Amen Haim.
Steve   (09.19.11)
28. To #4: Eric in Tonto land
Israeli 2   (09.19.11)
They would be shown the Jordan Gate. It is not far. By the way, that will happen soon. Hope this answers your question.
29. If a "Palestinian state" is ever established...
Vlad   (09.19.11)
It will be swamped by refugees from Palestinian refugee camps throughout the Arab world, residents of the West Bank's own refugee camps demanding orderly resettlement, Jordanian-Palestinians seeking to move back to Palestine for ideological reasons, and Gazans seeking the more spacious territory of the West Bank over crowded and impoverished Gaza. Such a population influx would create a need for more territory. The Palestinian state would probably seek a merger with Jordan as a result. The two-state solution is thus merely a prelude for "Greater Jordan".
30. Jordan is definately Palestine
usa   (09.19.11)
They have even almost the same flag. They speak the same language. Easiest way to solve the problem.
