The Palestinians pre-conditions that they will not accept Israel as a Jewish State and will not allow Jews to live in any new Palestinian State mean that no negotiations are possible. Building freezes etc might be negotiable but the above isn't.

If Abbas leads the Palestinians to statehood and then retires, Hamas will take over the West Bank as it did in the Gaza Strip with all it portends. Will peace talks isolate Hamas? What would indicate this?

If israel were to pull out of the west bank , Hamas will take over whether Abbas retires or not . The PA will last as long as they did in gaza . Hamas are biding their time for a full take over of the west bank just as Egypt will fall to the Muslim Brotherhood
