tom ,   tel aviv   (09.23.11)
revolutionary, rebllious cause in the pissing contest that we call life. These days it's the "Palestinians", the problem is that they are backed by strong finances of the oil-producing Arab world plus their own self-serving politicians. The whole charade is a smoke screen for the real battle(that nobody dares to call by it's name): Islam's War on Humanity. The world needs another murderous entity called Palestine just like I need a wart on my ass....!

4. Worlds Lovefest?
Marshall Newcity ,   Fort Smith, USA   (09.23.11)
Worlds lovefest for Palestine? Are you kidding? You live in the USA don't you? Americans think that aligning themselves with Israel will somehow buy them a ticket to heaven. Your American media is so pro-Israel it is pathetic. And, you have no right to criticize the way the Arabs treat each other... last time I checked Israel has not been the kindest of neighbors to anyone. I pay six figures in taxes every year and cringe at the thought of one more dime going to Israel! For what I ask... so you can abuse your world-given (NOT God-given) powers once more? Look in the mirror and you'll see the root of all your problems.
5. Thank you, Shoula!
Devorah   (09.23.11)
Any single one of the characteristics you named is reason enough not to approve a "palestinian" state, not even "observer" status.
6. This seems to say it all
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (09.23.11)
A very convincing piece. I hope it reaches those uninformed about the actual nature of what the Palestinian Authority has been politically.
7. Excellent editorial piece ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.23.11)
.... and quite accurate. I hope Ms. Horing submits it to The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and The Los Angeles Times. To smaller market major dailies in other American cities, as well. In fact, it's time to wake up the world. Get accurate, certified translations and submit it everywhere!
8. What a wonderful article. To the point!
Israeli 2   (09.23.11)
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (09.23.11)
Well stated, in a point by point break down, anyone who looks at this idea with a true objective eye, realizes the folly of an Independent state. One has never existed, and the new entity poses a real danger to the world, not only the region. If the point is to solve the problems in the region...something we all have heard to many times to count...it's a false premise. Nothing will change. Just like we hear that settlements are main obstacle to peace? When history demonstrates to us, so clearly, that it's not even debatable, they are simply the latest excuse. Before 1967 there were NO SETTLEMENTS. Yet terrorism was the same, wars of aggression were waged, and the same hate propaganda from the Arabs against Israel and Jewish people was identical as today. Yet people think...unreasonably...that this time, it will be different? Why would it? What proof do we have that given a state any of the issues will be resolved? After all they still won't even recognize Israel! Yet have the gall to ask for a reward, it's pure insanity.

11. Good Morning
Dr Yeruham Leavitt ,   Kiriat Arba, ISRAEL   (09.23.11)
I live in Kiriat Arba. Finally, a national newspaper, not particularly identified with the right, prints an article saying things which we have been saying for many years. But when we said these things we were called fanatics, fascists and racists. Good morning, Israel. You have begun to wake up.

18. Nature of Palestinian State
wally ,   regina, canada   (09.23.11)
How could any sane person believe that a Palestinian state would be anything but a disaster. Not just for Israel but for the whole western world. Any territorial concessions by Israel will simply result in moving the front lines of the conflict closer to Israeli population centers as is now the case in Southern Israel The Arabs will never stop fighting and anyone who thinks otherwise is a naive fool
19. Palestinian state disaster to world
Zipi ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (09.23.11)
Great Article !Palestinian state will be a disaster to Israel and the world . the world will have to take care of the pathetic Palestinians who cannot stand on thier own and will contribute terrorism, hatred, poverty, lies, Victimhood to the world. The antisemetic world deserves them to be their enabler of bad and pathetic behavior for years to come but not Israel.
20. Bibi must say No to Obama
Avi ,   Bat Yam   (09.23.11)
Obama is working together with Abbas. Obama is using a crisis to get more concessions from Israel. and then Israel will have to start from that point to give even more. I guessObama does not understand that The Palestinians never wanted a state. They wanted only to destroy the Jewish state. Their dream is the destruction of another national movement. Bib imust say NO to Obama . !!!
21. Let me add another important remark
Moshe ,   Netanya   (09.23.11)
Some years ago a leftist Jew in San Francisco told me: You have to give palestinians everything they are asking. You should try. But if they start killing Jews then we (USA) will send ships to evacuate you all. You must try. (that was around 1994-1995 when the killings in Israel begun).
22. Palestinian Democracy Impossible under Occupation
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (09.23.11)
Israel and the bush administration proved that Palestinian democracy is not possible under occupation. The 2006 elections were annulled. half the PA Legislative Council was jailed and their tax revenues were seized. Of course, they got the message that elections are not possible until after independence. The question is what Netanyahu will do and who he will appoint to replace Abbas. Who will the Israeli viceroy of the Palestinian people become? or will the PA just be abolished? What is the plan?
23. 20 Avi - Maybe you Missed it - Obama Caved
Mark ben Josuf ,   USA   (09.23.11)
Obama gave the speech that Bibi wrote for him. He conceded everything demanded, destroying what remaining influence the US had in the Palestinian Authority and in large parts of the Arab and Muslim world. The only positive thing for the US is that the US is out of any role. And with no role, we have no responsibility.
24. PA pre-conditions make talks impossible!
michael redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (09.23.11)
The PA will not accept Israel as a Jewish State but wants a Muslim State free of Jews. The above is a complete non-starter for any negotiations! Even anti-Israel supporters would surely be shocked if this new Muslim State started forcibly removing 500,000 Jews from their homes. And Israel would sit back and watch? Why does Abbas refuse to recognize Israel as a Jewish State? He wants millions of Muslims to return (700,000 left) to Israel but can't insist on that if Israel is a Jewish State.

Listen again to Erdogan's speech that he delivered yesterday. ENJOY IT ; ) THIS IS THE DAY :P
27. #22
Nic ,   UK   (09.23.11)
The west bank was ruled by an Arab Palestinian state (Jordan) for about a decade and the economic situation didn't change, the genocidal attitude towards the state of Israel did not change, the only thing that was different was that nobody was calling for an independent state.
28. Israel would be insane to allow this abomination.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.23.11)
Ask any other nation, in the world, if they's willingly hand over their 3,500 year old heartland to their mortal enemies. Ask any other nation if they'd allow their nation's waist to be trimmed to just 9 miles (16 minute tank ride). No other nation would even take such a request seriously. Yet the Israeli left does. It is a mystery how any Israeli, outside a lunatic asylum, can support such obvious lunacy as the monstrous Two State Final Solution. Israel would be insane to allow this abomination.
29. All true, but Leftists want to believe...
William ,   Israel   (09.23.11)
that if only A, B, and C happen, everything will be ok. People who live with that mentality are routinely disappointed and learn to never take responsibility for themselves....the exact group that Leftists gush over!
30. #22 - "Palestinian" democracy impossible at all
William ,   Israel   (09.23.11)
Has nothing to do with the faux "occupation". Hamas was elected and everyone got terrorism for their efforts. What was an open election devolved into assassinations of the opposition, corruption, etc. Gaza was a great opportunity to show what "Palestinian" democracy could be...that is, along the Western model. What the world got was "democracy" along the tribal Arab model, which is violent, full of corruption, and ultimately another despotic regime. Don't blame them - it's all they know.
