What a ridiculous outcome and what a waste of taxpayer money. Students of this age group and at the University level are very idealistic and naive. This is the time and for many it will be their only time they are willing to participate in public demonstrations. My son graduated from UCLA years ago and the students were chaining themselves to the fences, etc. to demonstrate their displeasure of whatever. Kids are not conservative like the Orange County parents. Give them a break!!

There seems to be no limit to the intolerance and discourtesy shown by the Muslim in limiting free expression and dialogue of ideas that they are not in agreement with.

These kids have ACLU representation and the appeals will go on for at least one of them. This is one of those First Amendment issues that Republicans hate so much, like almost all civil liberties except the right to shoot people.

These creeps will not be jailed, since they were charged with misdemeanors, (probably fined, however) but I agree, deport all non-citizens that were involved.

The DA in Orange County and the state of California are not empowered to deport anybody. That is a federal issue. This was a local case. It has to go through the California Appellate and then the California Supreme Courts and then to the 9th US Circuit, if Orange County wins at all the lower levels. Wonder how many $ million Orange County has budgeted for the appeals? They are rich, but are they that rich?

This was not a public demonstration. It was a lecture attended by 700 people on state property to hear Michael Oren. If your son did this at UCLA he could have faced criminal charges as well as suspension from school and loss of state and federal financial aid which terminate when students are suspended. Colleges and universities are places where students come to learn and be exposed to various views, not to silence speakers and interfere with the rights of others participating in a public forum. Most parents would not justify or be proud of this behavior.

Don't students attend college in order to get an education? Guess what? They just got an education in the freedom of speech, what limits a society will bare, and the US legal system. That's priceless as UC campuses never teach such practical things.

and when one group is singled out, and the rights of others are abused, the law kicks in. Sadly, you are of the ilk that find it ok to abuse the 700 people at the speech because 11 people had something to say, just because it was about Israel. Had it been a LGBT or Muslim event with such an outburst, you would have called it a hate crime.

Not only was it pre-planned to be disruptive, but it also infringed on the rights of 700 other people who wanted to hear the speech. These kids could have protested outside at the entrance. They would have their voices heard and those who decided to continue in would get to hear the speech. Since you believe the Left can say and do whatever they feel like because only Republicans are haters, are usually those that discriminate the most...against those whom they disagree with.
