Abbas accused Israel of "ethnic cleansing" in Jerusalem. So, Salma, how can Israel be ethnically cleansing the Arabs from Jerusalem, if their population has gone up every year and has more than quadrupled (from about 50000 in 1967 to over 200,000 today) under Israeli rule? My conclusion is that Abbas is just another lying Arab dictator. Instead of holding the long overdue Palestinian elections, he simply makes up lies, blames Israel, and clings to power.

The only other President the Palestinians have had is Yassir Arafat. Abbas of course is governing without legitimacy, as his mandate ran out three years ago and he refuses to stand for election. But that's fine by Peres who himself never won an election in his own right beyond that in the Knesset for the Presidency.
