1. Erdogan's Misbehavior on Israel
DrJLD ,   United States   (09.26.11)
I do not always agree with FM Lieberman, but on this problem with Erdogan he is hitting pretty close to the truth. Erdogan is posturing against Israel for his own, and his government's, role in remaking the Arab Mideast to fit his lofty ambitions. I believe if the Israelis had not killed anyone in the raid, or if they had let the whole flotilla get to Gaza, Erdogan would have thrown Israel under the bus, anyway. This man is so dishonorable and so willing to lie and exaggerate, that Israel will probably never regain decent relations with Turkey until his malignant personality and aims are removed from the scene. This, the Turkish people need to do, but they seem enthralled by Islamic fundamentalism as opposed to their historic secular government that served them so well. Their military that guaranteed secular governments is now too cowardly to do that job anymore.
2. Erdogan is the puppy dog of Iran
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.26.11)
There is no longer an independent Turkey. Turkey takes its marching orders from the lunatic mullahs in Teheran. Turkey's economy is circling the bowl and as soon as it is jacked out of NATO, it is very likely to simply melt away. Bye.
3. Erdogan the liar
Maurice ,   Montreal   (09.26.11)
I watched and listened Erdogan being interviewed by Charlie Rose and Fareed Zakaria while he was in New York City. Liberman is absolutely right. Erdogan comes out as a liar, manipulator and vicious person. The world is not stupid. The world was not fooled by the Iranian monkey, and is not fooled by this one either. Erdogan will lead Turkey to isolation from Western World just like Iran. It's already happening.
4. Liberman you are amazing yu managed to hummiliate

6. Bufoon!
Sam M ,   UK   (09.26.11)
It's a very undignified spectacle to see a turkish leader crawling on his belly, tongue hanging out, trying to curry favour with the arabs who truth be told want to keep him at arms length. Turkey is obviously suffering some kind of identity crisis and erdogan is making a complete fool of himself ! He's also not very bright extolling the virtues of secularism in Egypt when the muslim fanatics are on the rise! Duh!
7. ABBAS
mike ,   montreal   (09.26.11)
Im sure abbas has pictures of Arafat everywhere.Hes is no different same idealogy wants all of Israel. Were is Menachem Begin?
8. The Koreans were right when they called him the imbecile

9. Funny cuz it's true
Illiterate American ,   USA   (09.26.11)
However I do think the Israeli leaders should find a different environment (other than a party) to begin the retaliatory comments due to the danger of alcohol-induced rhetoric. Loose sips sink ships. Illiterate American
10. a refreshing change!
Sam M ,   UK   (09.26.11)
Nice to see Israeli politicians drop the 'dignified diplomatic silence' and call a spade a spade (it's much more exciting!) ie Ahmadinejad is a revolting little toe rag and erdogan's statements are 'excellent for Israel' which is diplomatic speak for a brain dead idiot. In fact laughing at the primitive behaviour of islamic leaders is an up and coming spectator sport which already has a growing fan base!
11. Liebermann for president!

Thanks to the uneducated and stupid Prime minister of turkey.
15. Copycat
Bob Davidson III ,   Escondio, CA   (09.27.11)
Lieberman is using Erdogan's rhetoric. Erdogan said: 'We have no problems with Israel. Our problem is with Israeli fascism.' And now Lieberman is quoting Erdogan. Does anyone have a muzzle? We need to muzzle LIE-berman. He is hurting Israel more and more everyday.
16. Erdogan has made Turkey
Dave K ,   United States   (09.27.11)
the half-excreted loaf of the Iranian dog. Nice imagery, huh?
17. To Sarah at No. 2
Vlad   (09.27.11)
No matter how much Erdogan whines, he will never turn his country into an Iranian satellite and Islamic Republic, simply because the country's generals will never allow it. Turkey's secular military staged a coup to combat a fascist government in 1980, and they will act again if Erdogan takes any steps to realize his twisted dreams. In fact, I think Iran and Turkey will soon be competing for influence in the fragmenting and chaotic Arab world, hoping to be the Muslim world's leader. Iran will probably try to restore the Persian Empire, Turkey the Ottoman Empire. I also think Turkey will win, give that Iran is economically weaker and is isolated by the mountains along its borders.
18. lieberman for president, of many countries!!
fabio ,   bs as argentina   (09.27.11)
19. Libermann and PR
dirk ,   germany   (09.27.11)
I dont think that Libermann is the best person to talk about PR matters...!!!!
20. Erdogan proves that in the West’s defense, Israel is
Stephen in New York   (09.27.11)
Erdogan proves that in the West’s defense, Israel is the front line. Should Turkey interfere with Cyprus’s gas explorations, Israel will be forced to help defend Cyprus –and possibly Greece- because the gas field is shared between Israel and Cyprus (and possibly Lebanon) and Israel will not tolerate Turkish mischief in the Mediterranean. Period. Should such unnecessary events transpire, perhaps it will become clear to the “chattering class” that in the defense of the West, Israel is the front line.
21. Vlad #17 you are out of date
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.27.11)
Erdogen has already either arrested or forced those generals out. He has purged the entire Turkish Armed Forces and all that is left are the officers he appointed.
22. response to # 17
Ron W ,   NJ, USA   (09.27.11)
You are unfortunately incorrect -- the Turkish military has been castrated by Erdogan, many of its generals have been prosecuted or resigned, so they no longer pose a threat to him. The best way out of this mess would be a war between Turkey and Iran, which may not be farfetched since each country is led by a megalomaniacal leader with delusions of restoring a grand empire that once was, particularly Ahmedinejad who believes he will hasten the coming of the 12th Mahdi by provoking a war. Let's all pray for a safe New Year for all.
23. #17 Vlad
Maurice ,   Montreal   (09.27.11)
Where have you been? Most of the influential Turkish generals are now either in prison or they were forced to resign. Have you not heard of the "Ergenekon conspiracy"? A staged conspiracy invented by the AKP to round up and put to jail everyone who speaks against the AKP or Erdogan! The military in Turkey has no more the control it once had. The democracy in Turkey is now only an illusion.
24. Among the diplomatic circles in NY
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (09.27.11)
Sometimes I am invited to some social event where some diplomats are present. During the past years I have heard some diplomats referring two two European leaders as buffoons. I am sure most of you can guess who one of them is. The second one..... Think about it a little bit you will find out. They both like and play soccer (Football in Europe)
25. Erdogan
Toady ,   london uk   (09.27.11)
The current Turkish government represents the views of the Islamist majority in Turkey. Before the popular view was suppressed by the military. The whole of Turkey is at 'war' with Israel. The Jewish nation needs to wake up and take measures, before they grow into another Iran.
26. #17 I agree but... #21,#22, #23 you're partially wrong..
idkak ,   Istanbul   (09.27.11)
#17 I agree with you, but in Turkey it's more like self-control, the army can not act against the will of the people (as in masses) without the support from the public the 80's coup would have been impossible, and changes easily revertible.. Currently about 50% of the population of Turkey is against Erdogan, but is with him because of the stability he provides for the country. Erdogan and AKP know quite well that they don't have any chance at making an Islamic republic and Turkey will always be secular, so they play the grey areas to gain support from all sides... politics.. is the name of the game. Turkey is not wanted in the west, they're simply Turkophobic from hundreds of years of fear. Russia is also not wanted in the west for almost similar reasons. Turkey in my view is bound towards a EU like pact with Russia and Asia, I would expect Turkey to use its ties to pull the ex-ottoman or muslim countries into this pact. It won't look nice to the west but it will stabilize the middle east, asia and get rid of the western bad influences there.. Iran's options are simple, if they become secular and democratic like Turkey then they'll have a chance otherwise its already impossible. Iran is economically stronger than Turkey in that it produces a lot more... and it isn't a agricultural country like Turkey.
