1. This is unusual
John ,   Alaska   (09.28.11)
The article reads: "The cooperation between the Israeli and Turkish authorities is unusual considering the deepening diplomatic rift between the two nations." This is the same Turkey that harrasses Jewish flyers at their airport. They are loudly telegraphing their preparations for war with Israel. They have no reason to help Israel with anything at all. At the moment, if it was noon and Turkey were to say the sun is overhead, I would have that independently verified by Greece before believing it. I have no idea what Turkey's ulterior motive may be, but I am reasonably confident that it is bad for Israel.
2. Migration
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (09.28.11)
I don't know have you recognised or not, Israel is in the center of a new world war. This is the war of world's migration. Ten millions from overpopulated territories will seek new home in the next future. The jews are lucky again as Israel is in the center of this mass exodus. The government must wisely prepare for this challenge and use the situation on propaganda purposes.
3. The surface situation is not the whole story
Israeli grandma   (09.28.11)
Erdogan is busy promoting himself and his distorted messages, but back in Turkey there is a huge population many of whom dont buy his political line. Also many who benefited from commercial ties with Israel and others, dont want to see their investments go down the drain. By the way, there are more journalists imprisoned by Erdogan's government than in Iran. Think about it!
4. Fighting illigal que-jumpers is in Turkey's interest too
Edward ,   Sydney, Australia   (09.28.11)
Turkey is a transit country for people smuggling. If illegal immigrants tell their friends that Turkey's an easy route, then their friends and clients will naturally come to Turkey, which causes problems for Turkish society. Also, if they arrived in Israel by plane and were refused entry, they'd be forced to fly back to Turkey causing further problems. BTW after the flotilla incident my Turkish acquintance with a British passport wasn't treated nicely at Ben Gurion Airport. His return flight left 14 days later so Israeli customs granted him a 13 day visa just to irritate him. A 1-3 month visa is the norm. He hates zionism so some might justify his treatment.
