10 Talkbacks for this article
1. UNSC vote
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (09.28.11)
I realize it is politically impossible, for reasons of domestic politics for the US to do the right thing and vote FOR Palestinian statehood and UN membership. These reasons are obvious to all who wish to see this situation for what it is and try to correct it. But the US should at least take some sort of moral stand by abstaining.
2. Also not guaranteed they have the votes
Danny   (09.28.11)
3. If the Palestinians can....
Gershon ,   Toronto   (09.28.11)
unilaterally declare a state then Israel can just unilaterally declare they've redefined their borders. I mean whats good for the goose.... The real farce is that Lebanon is head of the security council. Their government is controlled by Hezbollah a universally recognized terrorist organization. The icing on the cake is that Gaddaffi's Libya was or is head of the UN human rights commission, talk about the fox in the hen house.
4. To n° 1
Marcela Araújo ,   Brazil   (09.28.11)
I understand your point... Your opinion is very consistent. So, don't forget to leave your opinions here.
5. This is a game. Palestine is forever fictional.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.28.11)
Suppose the U.N. approves the bid of fictional Palestine. It is all a game. The U.N. has no authority to create states. Second of all, it won't change a thing as far as facts on the ground are concerned. Israel has absolute legal proof Judea and Samria belong to us. In fact, the whole U.N. scam may well be intended to cow Israel to stop building or drastically reduce our building in Judea and Samaria. It won't work. Ten years from now there will be well over a million Jews in Judea and Samaria. Israel will be a major energy power and nobody will waste their breath talking about fictional Palestine.
6. abstaining
graczeek ,   Maryland   (09.28.11)
And I have been abstaining from taking my medications. Of course you would never know that from my posts. I only live here to keep an eye on these American morons. I am a true Fakeasstinian at heart.
7. Pali bid for Statehood
Moragh USA   (09.28.11)
Where are you Lord Jesus. God forbid that these murdering palestinians would even get the length of the back door. Murderers, every one of them. Come Lord Jesus, come!
8. #1 - it is morally wrong to give people opportunity...
William ,   Israel   (09.28.11)
to hang themselves. Part of the UN Charter governing new States is not only their ability to self-govern but also to live in peace with their neighbors. Not only are the "Palestinians" unable to do that, they are UNWILLING to do that and have stated so many times. The US knows this and as chosen this reason to use their VETO, not because of internal politics even though a majority of Americans are AGAINST a "Palestinian" State. The US is right to demand that whenever a Pally State is created it must be within the framework of peace negotiations and end the war once and for all. Only the Arabs (and you) insist that a State must be granted, with no concern for Israeli security, and even the "Palestinians" should be aided in destroying Israel from their new State. Fortunately, less racist heads are governing in the West and your morals - the same on which Hitler justified his actions - are not acceptable.
9. Palestinian bid
Lukas A. ,   Surabaya, Indonesia   (09.29.11)
Don't worry, have faith, for Israel is Elohim's chosen country. My prayers are for Israel !
10. #1 graczek
solomon ,   bklyn   (09.30.11)
Everything according to you is because of 'domestic politics'. Even the many arab attacks on Israel. A state should not be created if it promises to continue to threaten it's neighbor (and is therefore avoiding peace). Or is that also 'domestic politics'? And after all the complaints about apartheid, the REAL apartheid 'state' that just said no Jew would be allowed, is now proposed for statehood. And you call the US veto a veto because of 'domestic politics'. As usual.
