2. Yom Kippur is not mentioned in Moses' final book.
Josh   (10.06.11)
The only book in the fisrt person (thus only one written by Moses himself) has no mention of this illogical holiday. Devarim. The idea of sharing the sins and avoiding divine justice on the sinners as well as affliction which is forbidden seems unlikely Moses would approve. The idea that you say your sorry AFTER you have been judged by some invisible heavenly court also defies logic. Walking around in death whites is also odd. Tying this to a new year is also not mentioned in devarim, but rather passover is the new year, defies it even more. I do not think Moses forgot anything in that final book before he died because G-d was watching over his shoulder. He even said that book was everything and not to add to it. Does the holiday really needs to retrun to anywhere?

5. WHY
TOM ,   NEW YORK , USA   (10.07.11)
WHY WOULD JEWS CHOOSE TO BUILD A SYNAGOGUE IN CORDOBA , ALL OF SPAIN FOR CENTURIES SLAUGHTERED JEWS FOR SEVERAL CENTURIES. HAVE YOU EVER HEARD THE CHURCH OR ANY SPANISH OFFICIALS SAY THEY WILL RETURN THE SYNAGOGUES THAT WERE CONVERTED TO CHUCHES, NO BECAUSE THESE SYNAGOGUES ARE ARE TOURIST ATTRACTIONS.

I have been to Cordoba. It is a place for New York Jews to visit. Good idea on the part of Spanish tourism. One has to strain one's eyes like crazy to see any vestiges of Judaism. The statue of RamBam was built sometime in the 60s. Good tourist scam. Sorry I said NY Jews. All Jews stay away. Stay away ...still Jew haters ijn Spain
7. #2 Hate to say it but...
Henry from New York ,   USA   (10.07.11)
Moshe didn't write those books in all likelyhood. We don't have any evidence for it other than faith. Are you not fasting them?

10. #7 Why would you hate to say it?
Josh   (10.07.11)
Its actually a mitzvah to say it. So if you hate to say it, you might want to check what is chose life and chose death. Recite the Shma potion from Devarim and listen to its words, if it would help. On the surface (Prima Facia) If the books written in second person claiming they were the witness and have the right to act as a prophet and deliver G-d's new words with additions of laws along side Moses' writings and in place of him as a messanger, should we listen? Who else gives us meanings that Moses never did? Check the book and it says no. "You shall not follow" If statements in these books are in direct violation of a law stated in the only book that is written in the first person and claimed to be written by a prophet should I observe the holidays it appears to add when common sense says this author is not a prophet? I mentioned already how they seem against the principals we see G-d adhering to, which is blessings for chose life and curses for chose death. Should I follow a false prophet and do a holiday that says to G-d chose life wants chose death curses to be shared thus thwarting true justice? Should I then not follow a man who walks on water but dismisses the law and aids only the sinners like I would be if I take on the punishment of a sinner robber, adulterer, cheat, killer this "high" holiday? Do you think I should follow the unnamed claimed observers that want me to believe they were on the mountain and survived next to Moses when all other Hebrews fled for their lives to their tents? Should I believe the increases in tax sacrafices, the increased supremacy of power, the laws about boyfriends of levis daughters paying for lunch, and the racism and persecution of odd looking people? The additions to what is not allowed to be added to? If you say yes, that would likely mean you want me to fast this holiday? What do you think I should do and are you writing a book about me or running to the Rabbi to tell what the convert answered? Do not hate to say it like it is. Do not fear the truth but rather the lies that afflict our souls when we walk contrary to the laws and Devarim 13. No one is lightening the load of chose death only joining it. History proves such. The false prophet is violating a capital sin and to that G-d has already answered what to do about it. "You shall not follow..."

Nobody forces you to fast or to respect Yom Kippur. You can do whatever you like the way you like. I am sorry for you if you feel odd when people repect culture and tradition. I do hope, however, you stick to all oter duties mentioned in Devarim, or perhaps I am mistaken? Any way I forgive you on the Eve of Yom Kippur. David
12. Yom Kippur in Cordoba
pauli cymet ,   beverly hills usa   (10.08.11)
mazel tov on your bringing all that Judaism may offer to Cordoba. My ancestors were from Galicia. I am thrilled to hear that Judaism is alive & well in Spain. Adios General Franco & your haters of Jews everywhere. Adios Hitler-we have SURVIVED all the atrocities and given many gifts to the world-in science, medicine, entertainment, literature, music, art, ...and Israel, bless Israel on this New Year, with peace, so that She may be a beacon the world of democracy & spirituality. Good Yom Tov-health, happiness, prosperity, love and whatever you want for yourself in this New Year should be blessed by G-d for you...pauli cymet (99% of my family were Holocaust victims)
