1. Brilliant move on Talking
Joe ,   London, UK   (10.02.11)
What a great move. He knows that the pals will not make the same move to re start direct talks, and sees the infighting going on between Chamas and Abbas. Whilst he may appear the good guy, which he is anyway, he has nothing to lose by agreeing to this. Unfortunately though, the world will not see things this way... Shana Tova!
2. Netanyahul accepts? Time for Abu Mazen
Nora Tel Aviv   (10.02.11)
...to refuse. It always has ben like that. They say: The ball is now on the other side. In treality, there are two balls: Each one in each side, well kept and never used.
3. hahaha. the bouncer Liberman accepted it ...wow :)
Salma ,   Palestine   (10.02.11)
for us sorry guys, too little too late .
4. Bibi in" Total alignment with Obama"
John Robey ,   Austin, Texas   (10.02.11)
so when does construction halt in the West Bank? Does BiBi now accept Pollard's continued imprisonment? The 67 lines are now OK as a starting point for negotions? Bibi now has no problem with US arms sales to Turkey, Saudi Arabia etc? The Likud's intransigence has isolated Israel from the world including a growing proportion of citizens of the US. Bibi and the Likud Party in are in alignment but with Hamas, Iran and those that do not want peace not with the US or the Quartet..
5. Making it official
Marcela Araújo ,   Together, Brazil   (10.02.11)
Making it official is a great idea... I was expecting it.
6. #3 Don't be surprised when you don't get anything.
(10.02.11)
But you're used to it by now.
7. on #3
Igor ,   Tel-Aviv   (10.02.11)
Yes, Salma, it's EXACTLY foolish reaction that Bibi and Liberman expect. Thank you very much.
8. Palestinians should hury up and refuse.
usa   (10.02.11)
So we can go back to normal.
9. Salma's @ it..again!
joe ,   London, UK   (10.02.11)
Thanks, #3. my point exactly. Nothing is ever good enough, although I have a feeling you are just playing 'devil's advocate' here. When will/can you please wake up and smell the coffee?!
10. #7. "Palestinians" are very predictable poseurs.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.02.11)
#7 Igor. You make a very good point. Salma, and "Palestinians" in general, are making exact stupid response Bibi and Lieberman counted on when they made their offer. "Palestinians" are very foolish and predictable poseurs. Yet Israel must stop playing the game of pretending to accept the evil Two State Final Solution. This is our land and it's time to stop playing games once and for all.
11. Excellent move by Bibi
Maurice ,   Montreal   (10.02.11)
He has NOTHING to lose as the "Palestinians" will not accept as usual (just read #3!). At least now Bibi has a chance to gain something in front of the world in the public relations domain .
12. Israel
Debbie ,   Israel   (10.02.11)
Brilliant move, Bibi. The Palestinians will never agree to this, and will never get back to talks. So why look like the bad guy?
13. Israel accepts!
tiki ,   belgium   (10.02.11)
As it should, knowing for 99.9% Palies won't. It's called 'taking a calculated risk. It's good to know that Palies are so predictable with a big mouth but little substance.
14. Waste of time, support a Palestinian state
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (10.02.11)
that you can contro (under Abbas) rather one that u cant (ie under Hamas). Under this administration watch, Israel lost any international sympathy and we have an extremely hostile arab and moslem world to contend with as the result of his anti-peace policies. I am afraid that we are heading for a catastrophic wave of violence very soon, all the elements seem in place and whats awaiting is the trigger. Unlike the second intifada in 2000, the arab and moselm world is so agitated and deeply unstable now that we could be fighting on multiple fronts (west bank, sinai, gaza, lebanon and even syria, sea vis-vis turkey). stop this madness, make the necessary compromises before its too late

20. Danger of believing ones own bullsh*t
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (10.02.11)
Abbas will not come to the table, since he is starting to believe his own BS . Another day, another dollar.
21. #3Salma -where is palestine?
sam1am ,   Israel   (10.02.11)

23. To Sam: Okay, Let Israel Talk then Act
Dave Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (10.02.11)
To Sam: the resident anti-Israel poster, knows full well, that there was a Palestine..it was part of the British Mandateafter WW1. We Jews accepted a mini state, the Arabs invaded in1948, believing they would rout our people in a few days. Thus, 500,000 Arabs moved a few miles to the neighboring countries expecting to return to the spoils and dead bodies. It didnt happen. Again in 67, under Nasser, the Arabs declared war..blocking an Israeli port and stationing 100,000 troops on its borders. I recall the screams of Jihad. Again, they were given a good ass whuppin. In 1973, Sadat thought he could intimidate the Jews into relinquishing the Sinai..violated the 67 cease fire, and successfully crossed the Canal. Syria almost cut the Galillee into 2. Their intent then, and still is, a Palestine Judenrein, Jew free. They say as much. But some of us are not hearing Hamas, Hez,. Iran, Fatah, the PLO and the 3 *((&^&* holes, Ahmad, Assad and Abbas. These naive Jews want peace so bad, they are risking suicide to achieve it. Abbas is consistent. He says over and over again..the 67 borders, no exchanges, 5m Arabs moving to Israel potentially, a sovereign Pals state..with control of everything above and below.. treaties with any country..an army with tanks, planes, artillery, missiles, etc. Its obvious they are using the UN as leverage, and are extorting Israel to submit..while lieing to the world about their ultimate goals. Anything less than full statehood from the 67 borders to Jordan is unacceptable. After which, they will peck away at Israel itself. Then Israel will have a fight on its hands.. Goldstone will seem like a cakewalk. Turkey and Iran will set up embassies with full military attaches. Egypt's Brotherhood and Jordans Palestinian population.. will join in, smelling blood. The sharks are circling for the Final Jihad, the Mother of All Battles. Israel is right in ACCEPTING talks with no pre-conditions. Abbas has shown his cards. There is no longer room for the slice and dice game..played by the Pals. Israel's attitude should be, "now or never, your choice Abbas". The real question is: what will Israel do next/? From my perch 11000 miles away..we c an write our Israeli consulate..Likud...Bibi..using the Net. We can email our legislators. We can also vote for people who are firm in their support for Israel and its survival.
24. To Debbie: They Aint Stupid, Just Self Defeating
Dav e Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (10.02.11)
To Debbie: Believe me, the Pals have already thought about this move. This is a chess game. for them. So far, they have been taking Israel's pawns. They now want the queen. They will say, " after 2 states are created at the 67borders..and the settlements are frozen, then dismantled (Judenfrei), we will negotiate directly with Bibi or anyone else. They did not get 140 nations to approve an upgraded status by sitting in their tents smoking hashish. It cost money, time and effort. The stumbling block for them of course is the US veto, which in effect makes their effort smoot. They could go to the Hague. I ask, how many tanks does the Hague have? They know its meaningless. except to peck away at Israel's sovereignty and resolve. No. Korea has several nukes..and is thus pandered. Israel has over 500, many 1 megaton and over (1 million tons of TNT). No one in his right mind will duke it out with Israel. They will have to be content with pin pricks. Israel, condemned by the UN for defending itself..is employing a new tactic...It hits launching sites more carefully...using drones, F16s, etc. It bombs Rafahs tunnels..coordinated with the Egyptian forces. Israel's mistake...leaving Hamastan and South Lebanon prematurely. It had Hamas on thereopes. and 50,000 IDFers south of the Litani. Thanks to the naivety of Hillary C. and T. Livni..they stopped. Now look what this has wrought. Until Israeli Jews stop thinking like ghetto Jews..and mean it..as Abba Eban said, they should expect some recurring violence. There may just be no solution to this problem.
25. Time Limits and Borders First
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (10.02.11)
That is what the Quartet has on the agenda. And Bibi to make an actual proposal of something that resembles statehood for Palestine. Amazing if he actually follows through.
26. unfortunately stiil a conflict/crisis in asia and so on...
sjoerd ruurd van der ,   land of mankind   (10.02.11)
according to ""ynetnews.com", "israel" has still a number of reservations". the good-willing category of the jewish people, of the palestinian people a.s.o. wants the end of that conflict now. peace to the jewish people, the palestinian people a.s.o.
27. Talks could be a step Reveal Reality on the ground
Martin   (10.02.11)
Please realise Abbass has no mandate except his charter. The charter says he may not negotiate. If Abbass aborts the Oslo proptocols with no substantive concessions rubberstamped by the League its aLL A WAISTE OF TIME. Quartet players lower you expectations unless concessions are clear we must follow the default route. Annexation must be part of the language. Strict adherance to the charter must push us to Annex and be done. Talk talk talk is cheap chip chip.

BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (10.03.11)
Total Alignment with Obama" is something that Obama can't get from his own people, who are in virtual mutiny against his failed policies, including rampant Unemployment, which he promised to cure, the Dictatorial Obamacare The people don't want, the restrictions he has put on banking, the takeover of the car companies and the trillions of dollars he has pissed away on his failed ventures Companies won’t hire, because they don’t know what he’ll do next to regulate them, they live in fear Obama goes on vacation, Michelle precedes him by 4 or 5 hours on a separate plane and at separate expense for her and her royal entourage Don't forget how Obama screwed up the Middle East, when he forced Mubarak out by not backing him, you now have ongoing wars in Libya, Syria and a couple of other countries, which you check for yourself, by scanning the news Another couple of items worthy of mention, the rousing reception that Netanyahu received when he spoke before Congress, at least 29 standing ovations from both sides of the aisle, plus Gallup Polls indicate that American’s favor Israel by 63%, check it for yourself
29. #18 Bethlehemite
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (10.03.11)
You need to call Bib's bluff, since Abbas will demand his usual pre-conditonal demands before he'll sit down, which will end up withBbibi saying the usual "No pre-conditons" befrore the sit down End of talks before they start
30. #25 MARK BJ
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (10.03.11)
Are you really that thick? Forget about the old Partition Lines, the Arabs rejected and violated them, they didn't work then, they won't work now And you know full well that Abbas will have the usual Saudi demands as the first item on the agenda Amazing if Abbas shows up without his list
