between muslim and Jewish prisoners in the state of Ohio? California? Arizona? Texas? Any guesses?

When I attended a city HS in south Queens, NYC, the black/white ratio was 50/50 . On Jewish New Years and Yom Kippur the school was closed. On Shvuot 90% of the students stayed home - it was the only holiday I attended classes because I was having trouble in biology. I can only imagine that on other Jewish holidays the same 90% stayed away.

There are Christians and others in those jails who do eat pork? Why are they being deprived just to accommodate Muslim restrictions? As to the whole dietary accommodation, it does point out the selective "observance" by the inmates. This fellow is in for murder, yet wants to observe halal rules. The Jewish fellow is in for fraud, yet wants to keep kosher. If they'd kept those other rules, they wouldn't be in jail. Why though should the state (and thus the taxpayer) be funding the extra cost of that accommodation? Give the inmates a "food allowance". If they want a more expensive food option, they (with help from family or faith community) can fund the difference.

If I have need of pork, I try approaching my Member of Congress for a handout. Unfortunately, I have not been successful so far.

So touching that he wishes to follow his religious beliefs...now that he is going to die for killing people. Where were the beliefs when he raised his hand against them? As always, the authorities are pandering to the criminal, not mindful of the victims, nor their families, whose suffering never ends. "Rights" used to equally connote obligations. No longer. Utter nonsense. When he removed the victims most basic right, the right to life, he forfeited his own. All of them, not least his dietary laws.

..and for that reason,you cannot have what you want,anytime you want.. If the Muslim prisoner want halal,they should respect US law and do not commit crimes.... When you commit a crime you go to prison and have no more freedom,and not anymore what you like,when you like it.... Muslims are arrogant even in prison....

I personally do not give a damn what prisoners want or do not want; if they are so devout then then they should have not been committing crimes and stayed out of prison. I'm sick and tired of criminals crying about their rights; feed them bologna sandwiches or what ever costs the taxpayers the least, and if they want special kosher or halal observant bologna, let them pay the difference.

I have that kosher slaughtering satisfies hallal standards, why does the inmate just eat kosher then?
