1. MAZAL TOV! Another Israeli Nobel Prize

Proportionate to our population we have amongst the highest number of Israeli Nobel Prize winners. CONGRATULATIONS!
2. Congratulations prof. Shechtman, Technion, Israel
Ypip ,   Canada   (10.05.11)
The 10-fold symmetry of the Penrose tiling fig. on Ron Lifshitz' introduction site (Tel-Aviv University dept. of Physics and Astronomy) helped me to understand quasi-crystals better. Fascinating!
3. Proof that the Norwegians...
Jon ,   Vars, Canada   (10.05.11)
...are not anti-Israel. They just have their own believes and principles.
4. Kol Ha'Kavod Professor Schechtman
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.05.11)
Wow! So many Jewish Nobel Prize winners .... and the Arabs have -- Yasser Arafat (may his name be cursed throughout eternity) -- a vile terrorist. Two billion Arabs and Moslems (as they enjoy reminding us) and one highly specious Nobel Prize "winner." Twelve and one-half million Jews, who can lay claim to over one-half of the Nobel Prizes awarded. That says it all, doesn't it?
5. Israeli scientist honored

For your information Prof. Daniel Shechtman was born in 1941 in Tel Aviv! He is as Israeli as you can get. Now dear Salma, are you going to go and sulk?

17. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.05.11)
Professor Daniel Schechtman was born in Tel Aviv. I guess that makes his original homeland ISRAEL. Where is your original "homeland?" You have variously claimed Jerusalem, Akko (where your mother's tiny (calloused) feet were "bruised" by stinging nettles) and Jaffa. Nu? Which is it? Frankly, YOUR original homeland is the Hejaz in the western Arabian desert. We'll send you home soon, have no fear.
18. To: No. 16
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.05.11)
Depending on the day of the week and where her fantasies take her, she is either from Jaffa, Akko or Jerusalem. Truth be told, like all ersatz "Palestinians," the only place she is NOT from is -- drum roll -- Palestine or Israel!
19. To: No. 10
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.05.11)
Wow! Four Nobel Prizes. I am SOOOO impressed. Egypt has, what, 80 million people? Maybe a little more? Do keep in mind that the Nobel Peace Prize in 1978 was awarded to Anwar Sadat (questionable) and in 2005, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Mohammed el Baradei (even more questionable, considering his record of ineptitude with the IAEA). That means Egypt has a net of two Nobel Prizes. The Jews -- who number 12.5 million people in toto -- have accounted for 181 Nobel Prizes. You've got a fair bit of catching up to do ... best get moving. A good place to start would be learning how to spell "Nobel."
20. Mazal tov!
Mea   (10.05.11)
21. Israel can make fortune by boasting delivery-in-TA tourism
observer ,   Egypt   (10.05.11)
after all Tel Aviv, not a Judea or a Shemron, is not originally Jewish. As always, Israel can make money after Arabs.
22. UC Berkeley winner of Nobel Prize in Physics this year
Michael ,   California, USA   (10.05.11)
As in other years, he will have a car parking spot designated for life on the campus and nobody will shout he is white or black, christian or jew, etc..
23. egyptian and proud @ 10, and one of Egyptian Nobel
leo ,   usa   (10.05.11)
Prize winners is Yasser Arafat.
24. More than 175 JEWISH Nobelprize winners,only 6 MUSLIM...
Tevye ,   Chelm   (10.05.11)
And still counting... Oh, and by the way, out of 6 muslims, 2 (Sadat and Arafat - actually both of them Egyptians... ) of them received the prize - because of Jews... Ever noticed how much Jews and how much Muslims there are on the globe?...Just do the calculations...
25. #10 yes and no
Igor ,   Germany   (10.05.11)
Sarah #4 is wrong, but you still don't have much to be proud about. Of your 4 laureates, only one is scientist. The other three are peace (i.e. politically motivated) or literature (a matter of taste). Makes 1 Nobel scientist / 80 million people. The only other Muslim Nobel science laureate I could find is Abdus Salam from Pakistan. Makes another 1 Nobel scientist / 180 million people. (Just in case: Algerian-born Claude Cohen-Tannoudji is Jewish!) So in total there are 2 Muslim Nobel science laureates / 1.5-2 billion people. For comparison: Israel has 4 scientist and 2 economists (basically doing hard math) among Nobel laureates. Makes 6 / 7 million people. If we count all Jewish laureates, we come at about 1/5 of all Nobel prizes. What might be the reason? Think about it...
26. Congratulations.
Abu Yussef al Yahudi ,   Bue_Aires_Argentina   (10.05.11)
Today is a very happy day for us, the Jews living in the Galuth , because of the great achievement of the Prof. Daniel Shechtman. This new Nobel Prize won by a Jew, proves that there is no doubt that the Jewish People is "enlightened" among the Peoples, and that "Israel is a light unto the Nations of the world" MAZAL TOV and KOL HAKAVOD to this great Israeli Scientist. AM ISRAEL CHAI
27. To: No. 21
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.05.11)
Congratulations! You get the Darwin Prize in complete imbecility. Before Tel Aviv was built -- BY THE JEWS -- it was an abandoned, desert wasteland. You have clearly also forgotten that it was the Arabs who came AFTER Israel started to build and create a viable, thriving state. In search, no doubt, of Jewish money. But don't you worry. You can always take your pet camel and hire out rides to gullible tourists at the pyramids.
28. JEWS AND ISRAELIS ARE AND WILL BE BLESSED!!!
zad ,   swaziland   (10.05.11)
Praise GOD for Prof Dan achievements, all friends of Israel are grateful and excited. I wonder how Erdogan, Nasrallah, Ahmenidejad and other "anti- semetism worshippers" ( antisemetism has become a religion for them) are feeling. Erdogan should get an Adolf Hitler Prize of Anti-semetism! Without Jews and Israel this world would be like Afghanistan under Taliban rule! May the Jews be multiplied and blessed in JESUS Name!!!
29. Norway assigns only the Peace prize; Sweden awards the rest.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (10.05.11)
And once again Israel wins a *real* prize. (Of the dozen or so won by residents of Muslim countries, more than half are for "Peace" or Literature.) Israelis have now won a "minyan" of prizes, though Agnon and Rabin have since passed away. They still need to win for Physics and Medicine to have a complete set. As an active supporter of Israel's Technion, I'm happy to note that three of the four Chemistry prizes went to Technion researchers. I'd say it's time for the government to put more money into that great institution.
30. Prof. Daniel Schechtman
Alice ,   Montreal, Canada   (10.05.11)
Mazal Tov, Mazal To. You make us so happy and proud. May you go from strength to strength, with The Nation of Israel and The Jewish People around the world, and continue to be a beacon of light to all the Nations. Ktiva Vechatima Tova to you Prof. Schechtman and to your Family and to the Jewish People. Alice and Family,
