4. had Israel in 73 advanced beyond Sinai,
observer ,   Egypt   (10.11.11)
1-Suez-Cairo road was under the egyptians' control as there were full two divisions 16th mechanized and 4th armored repulsed any israeli forces tried to get closer to the road as the israeli commander who fought the war say. 2-the israeli forces were the forces entrapped as the rear of israeli wedge was under control of the egyptians as Sharon failed for three times to occupy Missouri, which dominated the heights north of the Great Bitter Lake, was important for keeping the yard and bridge out of Egyptian artillery range. Thus the israeli supply lines was under control of the egyptian armed forces. 3-the egyptian 3rd army didn't ever never got entrapped as there were egyptian forces controlling southern of the bitter lakes and was able to repulse the israeli for many times and thus the 3rd army entrapped the israeli not the israeli entrapped the egyptians . 4-Two egyptian divisions were assigned to repulse the israeli beside the egyptian 1st field army was behind them and didn't joined the battles yet. 5-It was estimated by Israelis that the 3rd army was 30000 man with 300 tanks and 300 artillery pieces. Sharon division lost most of its power and only less than 100 remained for him and Magen division was only 80 tanks. Adan was the one assigned for the main missions and engaged the main battles which is a fact while Sharon and Magen divisions weren't primary forces which means Adan's losses must be greater than Sharon and Magen divisions , and again less then 100 remained for sharon out of his division which is supposed to be 280 tanks , and less than 80 tanks remained for Magen out of his division which is supposed to be 380 tanks. so is it resonable that those israeli tanks less than 200 tanks were not able to surround an army with 300 tanks beside the 1st field army west of these israeli forces beside those two divisions 16th and 4th which was enntrapping the Israelis.
5. Palestinians win because
observer ,   Egypt   (10.11.11)
they are passing candies right now in Gaza. and more, no-one passed away in that deal.
6. Apologize instead for not securing Israel's borders
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (10.11.11)
Has Egypt apologized for not maintaining the security of its border with Israel? Has it explained how the terrorists got from Gaza to Israeli territory near Eilat without being intercepted? No, it's Egypt that owes Israel an explanation. And Barak who owes Israelis an apology for not properly securing the country's borders. It's amazing how Israel's "most decorated soldier" has helped make his country the world's doormat. Even Egypt, which lost five wars to Israel, now assumes they can walk all over her.
7. To: No. 4
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.11.11)
You are (again) co-opting information -- without proper attribution -- from the wrong websites. Israel DID advance beyond the Sinai in 1973, you fool! We crossed the Suez Canal and stood poised to march on Cairo with NOTHING STANDING IN OUR WAY. We also cut off the Egyptian Third Army's supply lines. We could have left the entire Third Army to die of thirst in the Sinai, but we aren't like you. It takes quite a despicable individual to order a military attack on a country on that country's holiest day of the year. Perhaps next time, we'll return the favor at the start of Ramadan or on Eid. See how much you like it. By the way -- it is believed that Egypt sustained upwards of 25,000 casualties in the Yom Kippur War. Which could easily have been much, much more -- just ask the Syrians, who did.

Contemplate the possibility that the apology was offered while Barak had his fingers crossed behind his back.

You sure like to post nonsense without proper research.I remember what happened in 1973-do you? Also don't mess with Sarah B's knowledge. She has an excellent education-you don't. Why do you read Jewish papers-can't find the truth in Arab?Obviously not.

14. WHAT ???! another good news... is this israel ?
eporue ,   euroe   (10.12.11)
cool, really... bold move ! ...a bit overdue, though....
15. With Barak everything is for sale.
Ilan   (10.12.11)
Not a coincidence that the evidence that the Egyptian soldiers killed participated in the terror attack was simply swept under the carpet. With Barak the truth is a minor detail while ties with Egypt are business. We keep looking for leaders with a value system and keep on being disappointed.
16. salma ! what do you think about the deal ?
eporue ,   europe   (10.12.11)
...a bit sad, you have to let him go ?

Franco ,   Roma, Italia   (10.12.11)
...Why do you? Are you his father or mother?
18. a good diplomatic move
Arnold ,   Canada   (10.12.11)
the apolgy to the military government in Egypt is an ecellent diplomatic move. There are several things in motion that need to be resolved. First and foremost was the Shalit deal. Hamas got lots of prisoners exchanged for Shalit and Israel stood their ground on the 3 prisoners Israel always said not part of any deal. Secondly the young US/Israeli on "spy' charges needs to get out. Third. Better an apology to Egypt right next door to you than to pushy Erdogan. He is probably simmering right now.
19. #7 Sarah
Vlad   (10.12.11)
Actually, the Syrians lost less: 3,500 dead. The battles up on the Golan were less intense.
20. Barak to apoligize for Egypt for murdering Christian Copts
Dan Kelso   (10.12.11)
Next Barak will apologize to the Arab muslims for murdering 30 Coptics the other day.
21. Barak for president...
Avi ,   Israel   (10.12.11)
22. #7 Sarah B, LOL! and you source of casualties?
observer ,   Egypt   (10.12.11)
The results of the 73 war that Israel failed to imagine was 2,700 Israeli soldiers dead, the majority of whom died in the first two days of combat. If you proportionate to to population, Israel's losses equal the US' losses in the whole Vietnam war. Israel losses in tanks and armor were so enormous that Israel begged the United States for an immediate airlift.
23. egyptian border guards
joel ,   usa   (10.12.11)
why did the egyptian border guards allowed those terrorists to come into the sinai area, which the border guards were supposed to protect, ha? was there a conspiracy to kill the 8 israelis, ha?
24. nice then next step is licking their feet?
Ester   (10.12.11)
u can apologize all the times u want but NOT IN MY NAME
25. # 7

Sarah, sorry to inform you but Israel lost between 2500 to 2800 soldiers in the Yom Kippur War. Very sad.

27. Barak is nothing but an apologetic idiot
Maxim ,   ISRAELOAMERICAN   (10.13.11)
How pathetic!.
28. NONE OF UR BUSINESS
Egyptian christian ,   Egypt   (10.13.11)
we are all egyptians so don't care that much about us we are doing fine together
29. 25
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (10.14.11)
You are right Birdi-plus 8,000 wounded. Egyptians killed-8,500 to 15,000.About 30,000 wounded.
30. Barak is an irrelevant loser. Doesn't represent anybody!
(10.14.11)
His apology is empty as he is not supported by anybody. So if Egypt feels cozy about this, so be it, but it should know that from the people of Israel, it gets nothing but a three fingered salute! Those corrupt and coward Egyptian soldiers deserved to die the death of a gutted pig. Let this be a warning to any Egyptian who supports terror.
