1. The mentality of many Israeli leaders scares me.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.12.11)
I admit I can't understand the mentality of many Israel's leaders. How can they possibly believe freeing 1,000 terrorists to ransom a single captive is a good thing? It boggles the mind. Israel has handed Hamas, in particular, and "Palestinian" poseurs, in general, a huge victory. What's even scarier is that these same miserable excuses for leaders will negotiate the lunatic division of Israel at the "peace table", if we allow it. Clearly it is up to the Israeli people to save Israel. Our current leaders aren't up to the job. Most of them aren't up to any job.
2. Rather than release over 1,000 criminals...
Yacov ,   Chicago   (10.12.11)
Israel should have shot 10 Arab criminals every week until Shalit was released. If they harmed Shalit, Israel should have shot 100 Arab prisoners every week until they were ALL GONE!!!
3. Kind of ironic...
Mike S ,   Phoenix, USA   (10.12.11)
... how Hamas and the Israeli right wing save each other -politically- very often...
4. A dubious take on the matter, Zelkovitch
Cameron ,   USA   (10.12.11)
This Shalit business was a move worthy of the village idiot. Hamas was handed a stunning victory on a silver platter.
5. Israel just help Hamas to beat abbas at next election.
mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (10.13.11)
Hamas will be the one, not abbas, at next year UN platform blasting Israel!
6. bitter sweet situation....
valentina ,   israel   (10.13.11)
although I'm happy Gilad is coming home, i can't help but feel sick that now Hamas has more incentive and has already said there will be more kindnappings. Their tactics have proven to be successful to them, ofcourse they will try again. But what happens next time? Israel can't keep releasing a thousand prisoners everytime a soldier is kidnapped, so does that mean the next one gets left behind? and thousands of people who fell victims to these terrorists need to watch them walk free with broken hearts, after having to have buried their loved ones? These are terrorists making demands, they should have been punished from the beginning to the end after doing that, not negotiated with. Gaza was thumped after they took Gilad, they lost a thousand, now gained a thousand, really, it makes no difference, they still allowed their people to suffer either way for their actions, why should we suffer too?
7. I have a hunch that a lot fewer
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (10.13.11)
Terrorists will be taken as prisoners in the future; shoot on sight will be the order of the day Besides, Gaza is now a target of opportunity, Shalit won’t be there and if a new person is kidnapped, retaliation will be immediate, no more warnings to cease & desist Israel will not go through this agony again, next time the agony will be Hamas’
8. #3 you are soooo right!
ilani ,   israel   (10.13.11)
Thats all this is! Its political! israel with its upcoming election, hamas with whatever( probley to stick it to abbas!) i dun really care! #1 was right too, this is a BAD IDEA! not worth it, only the Shalit family has the right to ignore logic. (if it was my family, id rather the whole world burn in exchange for my family back) i can understand people emotions, and short attention span. gilad is alive, bring him back! constant bombardment from the media, of course everyone wants him back! try this commericial on for a size! in 2001 Person A planned multiple bombings responsible for many deaths, person b stabs and shot 2 students in jeruslam, etc. now do you really want these people to walk around free to kill you children in the future, ur father, ur mother? out of 1000 people, even if 1 of them kills again, the deal is not worth it. u got ur son back, and i had to pay with my son! how is that fair? there... end of rant!
9. Makes no difference:for a large portion of Israelis the Oslo
tom ,   tel aviv   (10.13.11)
Treason is still a major achievment. Spin doctors shall do the rest and soon even I will be made to forget, why I've been against this lunatic swap... that's life in Israel.
10. Palestinian people with a real political achievement
Daniel ,   India   (10.13.11)
Is this a political achievement? This is terror achievement! Next achievement will be they will try to kidnap Israeli soldiers or eat each other.
11. #2) What a brilliant idea...
LolaFalona ,   Los Angeles   (10.13.11)

12. #3)
LolaFalona ,   Los Angeles   (10.13.11)
The 'RIGHT' is the RIGHT, no matter how you look at it, both are extreme views which lead down a warped path that goes nowhere fast.
13. Weren't Six-Day and Yom Kippur Wars victories for the Arabs?
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (10.13.11)
14. I have a news flash for you,
Salma ,   Palestine   (10.13.11)
