31. #17 Gregg - I'll explain the differences
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (10.13.11)
Israel patrols the Sinai borders from within Israel We don't have any sort of a Peace Agreement with Lebanon, we're still at war, which happened more than once The other factor is that Israel didn't start the Wars with Lebanon & Egypt, they did Understand now?
32. Silly People - manipulated by title
Ben ,   Chutzlaaretz   (10.13.11)
I can guarentee you that despite the General's statement, Egypt got approval from Israel to fly those planes around Sinai. Everything else said is for public consumption by the Egyptian street and apparently by fools on talk backs here. I am no fan of Arab "honor" but we really can't have it both ways. Can't complain about the Egyptians poor job of securing the Sinai and at the same time fault them for trying to do a better job of it. Common People... get a grip! Egypt isn't looking for war with us. (At least not right now.)
33. pride and humiliation
marcel   (10.13.11)
as a member of the jewish commonwealth, we try to raise our kids to be smart and courageous. To that end, we enrol them in karate, soccer, weightlifting, swimming to build their bodies and to give them confidence in dealing with others, not to be pushed around. When sharon and begin were in charge, jews felt empowered and adversaries backed up. Egypt wasquiet. Then came peres, olmert and now barak as defence minister and israel is humiliated , barak constantly apologizes and appeases, and jews are humiliated. How much longer will barak humiliate israel? And so is it any surprise that egypt and turkey are more aggressive with israel. And bibi-if the worst is to happen, then jews and israel should take down the whole neighbourhood-if we can't live here , then you won't. Instead barak runs around apologizes and gets israel into deepter trouble.Do israel alfavour and resign already. Israel doesn't need you anymore.
34. Israel has no claim to the Sinai.
Mike Lueders ,   Lakewood, OH   (10.13.11)
The "peace process" has been nothing but smoke and mirrors for decades. In the end Israel will be controlled within the 1967 borders. Their neighbors will settle for nothing less. The US is no longer capable of protecting Israel and would gain nothing by doing so.
35. 31 is right
Egyptian ,   Egypt   (10.13.11)
I think that number 31 is right. Israel keeps complaining about the Sinai border and in the same time complains if Egypt does anything about it. The general didn't say anything bad about Israel, so I'm not sure why some of the comments are attacking Egypt! You cannot have both way and Israel should change it's approach to maintain peace in the region. By the way Egypt is not looking for wars with anybody we have our problems to take care of.
36. Why does U.S. have troops in iraq & afghanistan--
ED ,   Toronto   (10.13.11)
Why does U.S. have troops in iraq & afghanistan when they could be helping Israel on it's border? Where are the U.N. troop$ in all of this? Weren't they part of the treaty too?
37. not looking good for peace
steve ,   detroit usa   (10.13.11)

38. and?????
michel ,   france   (10.13.11)
next week we wil have the turks also patrolling with the egyptians.Luckly the governement found the response: allowing 1500 new egyptian troops in Sinai.Congratulations.
39. #33 BEGIN ?
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (10.13.11)
Begin stupidly gave the Sinai away .
40. #32 WELL SAID ,YOU ARE VERY WISE
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (10.13.11)
Israel must have given the green light to egypt . And people can't complain if egypt is patroling the sinai and preventing terror.
41. Daylon @ 30, Egypt lost control of Sinai in 1967.
leo ,   usa   (10.13.11)
Egypt tried to gain control of Sinai in 1973 and failed. To gain Sinai still in 1979 Egypt entered into humiliating peace with Israel. The peace, which they are endangering even as we speak.
42. not need permission to increase our forces on our land
observer ,   Egypt   (10.13.11)
look at the full part of the cup they do not care about "our land" but they have much concern about "our forces".
43. The Cat Is Playing With The Mouse
fred ,   Rockford, USA   (10.13.11)
Like a cat who is watching the mouse get braver and braver, Israel is bidding its time before it strikes. The last war with Egypt took about 7 days. This one may only take about 7 minutes. Egypt is now run by younger people who, it seems, cannot read history books.
44. Jets over Sinai
Michael McCarthy ,   Kochav Ya'ir, Israel   (10.13.11)
Ok, but as long as it doesn't lead to war. But if it does lead to war then we'll be forced to take the Sinai back permanently.
45. #43 -- Wishful Thinking!!
Mike Lueders ,   Lakewood, OH   (10.13.11)
My prediction is that Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, and probably a few other coutries are going to join forces to put Israel back into it legitimate borders. The US population isn't going to allow another war for Israel. Just not worth it.
46. egypt and sinai
joel ,   usa   (10.13.11)
well, let egypt do its part in accordance with the peace treaty, ir seemed the criminals have taken advantage of egypt's not doing its part, ok?
47. Big deal
Shlomo   (10.13.11)
hey didn't exactly enter Israeli borders so why the fuss. Egypt is the only country that respects its commitment even during its revolution
48. wishful thinking
leonard spitz ,   Delray beach,fl   (10.13.11)
Mike, where in the world is your head. Arab forces are going to join to push Israel back?????That's how this all began. We beat you three times and will beat you another 300 times. Where in the world does the loser dictate terms
49. To #43
Maurice ,   Los Angeles, USA   (10.13.11)
The Sinai will be part of Israel again, there will never be a Palestinian state on the land of Israel because it has no legitimacy historically or otherwise. And have you looked at the latest US polls regarding Israel? Never been higher in favor of Israel. We just need to vote Obama out.
50. last post was meant for #45 -end
Maurice ,   Los Angeles, USA   (10.13.11)
51. OBAMA STOP THE MILITARY AID TO EGYPT
zionist forever   (10.13.11)
Military aid was conditional on Egypt abiding by the terms of the 1979 treaty. If Egypt doesn't like those terms then let them pay full price for their weapons in future. We better take control of the Egypt situation now because pretty soon they will be holding elections which the Muslim Brotherhood are expected to do well in and its easier to reach agreements with the military caretaker government than it is with the Muslim Brotherhood. Oh well peace was nice whilst it lasted but at the end of the day an arab is an arab and they do not and never will want real peace.
52. Barak needs to GO,he has caused enough of damage to Israel..
Israel Supporter ,   OutThere   (10.14.11)
53. Yamit will rise again.
Stephen in New York   (10.14.11)
If the Moslem Brotherhood takes power in Egypt, Israel will reoccupy Sinai as far as the mountain passes.
54. Next time peace will be WITHOU Sinai
(10.14.11)
55. Arrogance clouded their minds
(10.14.11)
They forget that a treaty is a treaty, and if you breach it, next time nobody will do a treaty with you which is balanced. Next time Egypt will get a much worse deal for peace. Next time Israel won't stop 100km fom Cairo, and when Cairo will beg for peace, that peace will come without Sinai or any territory they will lose.
56. To 20 - Treay Language?
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (10.14.11)
What is the specific language of the treaty that prohibits air patrols and reconnaissance? Before jumping at shadows, it might be important to look at what was specifically agreed. In the air is not on the ground or "in" or "on."
57. To 20 - Treay Language? 2nd Try
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (10.14.11)
First is is more important to focus on facts than statements. Statements are made by politicians who always slant and twist facts. What are they actually doing? What does the language of the treaty say? Is 'in the air' the same as 'on' or 'in?' Legally? Yes, you want the Sinai back and would just love to be again in a shooting war with Egypt. That is apparently a given. And yes, Netanyahu ran on abrogating all prior Israeli treaties and agreements. Do you want Cairo and the Nile and Suez, too? What is your limit? Do you crave al Anbar in Iraq, too? It's on the Euphrates. But what are the facts here?
58. #27, #34 mike
solomon ,   bklyn   (10.14.11)
Egypt is subordinate to the peace treaty. Egypt is going to have to learn to abide by treaties if they want to continue to exist. Egyptian control of Sinai was never accepted by most of the world; only one other country besides Egypt accepted Egypt's claim. Egypt blockaded Eilat. An act of war. They lost. Israel has more claim to Sinai than Egypt. You have it backwards.
59. Israel/Egy[t
Loraine ,   Monterey, USA   (10.14.11)
What can Israel do about it?
60. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.14.11)
Yeah? Really? How "prideful" (yuk) will the Egyptians be after Israel takes back Sinai, and a strip along the Suez Canal, and destroys the Aswan Dam, Abu Simbel, the Sphinx and the pyramids? It CAN happen and -- if need be -- it will. Get used to it. Why would it bother you? Destruction of "antiquities?" No problemo. Did not the Taliban destroy several thousand year old Buddhist statues in Afghanistan, with nary a murmur throughout the world? Yes. They did. Kiss the pyramids, Abu Simbel and the Sphinx bye-bye. After all -- international law is supposed to apply equally in all cases, right? Even if the issue involves Jews. Like I said .... get used to the concept. It CAN happen. Push us a little more, and it WILL happen. What are you going to do about it, asshole?
