1. nonsense
Robotic   (10.18.11)
You are the one who forced yet another of these crazy swaps: 2 dead bodies against 4 hezbollah terrorists. You have already given a victory to our ennemies and now you are gloating to another dishonoring staion on our nation. Where do you thing you live , In Europe between Switzerland and Luxembourg ? To exist in the Middle east one have to take the rules of teh game as they are played here. That means be always the stronger. Any sign of weakness is a calling for the ennemies; This is people like you that are killing Israel
2. We envy you!
Judas Iscariot ,   London, UK   (10.18.11)
1:1000 that is an envious ratio in anyones book. I don't know any nation that would capitulate to this humiliation. Well the release of 1027 prisoners is the first phase. I suspect there will be more kidnappings, and so will follow phase two - another 1027 prisoners for 1 soldier. I personally cannot wait for phase two. Ooh i'm envious of Israel....ooohhh. And Israel cannot do anything about this, Nada!
3. You are wrong
Nora Tel Aviv   (10.18.11)
Hamas, as a small enemy entity, can not compete with Israel one to one. Therefore a thousand to one exchange seems to be fair eough to them. Hamas, next time an Israeli soldier will fall in their hands wil know exactly what to do. The question is, do we Israels know what to do next time?
4. Unfortunately, Goldwasser Is Incorrect
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (10.18.11)
Today is no more a day of victory than the day that we gave up 5 murderers; terrorists- 1 who bashed the head of a 4 year old girl against a rock in addition to murdering her father and de facto, her 2 year old sister, and the bodies of 199 others for 2 Israeli bodies. The Arabsknow that terror pays.
5. From today onward - crushing reprisals
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (10.18.11)
The Arabs in Gaza, Lebanon and the west bank have short memories. They will forget the thousands of dead before them. They will not bother with peace talks. They will continue to think that they can kill us with impunity. Therefore, Bibi should state clearly today - even before the next inevitable Arab terrorist attack - that any future attacks will be considered acts of war. There is no excuse for Israel to suffer constant war with these Arabs, who pretend they want "peace" yet at the same time carry out acts of war. The next terror attack is just another act of war. However, the next attack will be responded to as in a real war situation. If they Palestinians refuse to negotiate peace and continue to carry out acts of war, then they will pay the heavy price. If they want peace, then we'll give it to them. Otherwise, they will get the war they keep saying they are waging against us.
6. sorry miki you are wrong
barbief ,   haifa israel   (10.18.11)
we don't need to discuss the goldwasser/regev deal, how about the tenenbaum deal, we released terrorists then, they came back to murder israelis. what is wrong with us? if the only way to stop this madness is the death sentence for terrorists (arab and jewish) then that is what we have to do. happy for gilad but soooo sorry for the rest of our country.
7. thank you Miki Goldwasser
tz   (10.18.11)
How sad are these dissenters so quick to "talk back" to a woman sharing from personal experience her strength and hope with all of us. Believe me, many of us admire you and share your perspective on this long-awaited day. Thank you!
8. Welcome home Gilad!!
R ,   Israel   (10.18.11)
I wasn't in favor of the deal in that having to release 1027 thugs and murderers is disgusting, I feel for the families who lost their loved ones to these monsters and wish that they find solace. Nevertheless, I am happier than I've been for months because seeing Gilad free, and knowing that his family's suffering is coming to an end, is wonderful. Polls show that 80% of the nation feels similarly. This is, in spite of everything, a great day!
9. How do you know that?
Mother of a soldier ,   Israel   (10.18.11)
This is more wishful thinking than fact. The fact is that as these lines are being written, our 'neighbors' in East Jersusalm and Ramallah are chanting that they want 'more Shalits'. Israelis watch too many Hollywood movies. There really will be more Shalits. My son may be one of them some day. My daughter may be one of the victims of this deal. What will you write in Y-Net then?
10. victory???
morris13 ,   jerusalem   (10.18.11)
israel traded 1027 prisoners for 1 if you do the math you are out 1026 people lol
11. Humiliation? You're joking
AF ,   Karnei Shomron, Isra   (10.18.11)
Hamas feels no humiliation. They are laughing at us. I'll bet they can't wait to try another kidnapping, just so they can raise the price to 1500.
12. Thats funny
Ibrahim ,   Jerusalem   (10.18.11)
To be honest no we are not jealous, we are happy as much as you are, and even happier that instead of exchanging shalit to one Palestinian prisoner, we were able to exchange by 1000X Shalit prisoners, this is an achievement for Palestinians. Mentioning that we are cheap and consider ourselves less than the Israeli human being is not true. The Palestinians fight for a cause I believe, and anyone who fight for a cause is aware of the consequences of doing that, and all were ready to spend life sentence for Palestine. * Note: I am against suicide bombing and never agreed on these actions
13. We paid big sacrifice to repay Miki's son's own sacrifice
Ron M ,   Tel Aviv   (10.18.11)
It's time for Miki to be quiet, and go away like normal citizen. Her voice is not more valuable than any other. There is not a family in this country not touched by loss of soldiers and war. Sheket kvar Miki.
14. What is the writer drinking?
Nofia Shem Tov ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.18.11)
Serving that liberal Kool-Aid to the masses. Delusional.
15. Mrs. Goldwasser and No. 2
M.J. Eizen ,   Petah Tikvah, Israel   (10.18.11)
Mrs. Goldwasser, you are a brave woman, and I salute your courage. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. As to No. 2 Judas Iscariot, we have plenty of accounts to settle with Hamas and Fatah, and they will be settled in due time, you can be assured of that.
16. Nice try, nice spin, big BS!
tiki ,   belgium   (10.18.11)
17. Pollyanna until the next time...
Beth ,   Raanana   (10.18.11)
and our experiences have shown us that there will be a next time.
18. Miki Goldwasser
anon ,   Johannesburg   (10.18.11)
Those words by Miki Goldwasser made me so happy... So sad... So emotional. Thank you Miki! Today (with a HUGE smile) I have taken off my "free Gilad" sticker off my car! Its been on my car for 2 years driving around Johannesburg. This is an awesome day
19. in 1828 the rules of chess changed
oferdesade ,   israel   (10.18.11)
allowing one to possess more than one queen, for instance. games change, rules change. arabs are no longer sitting idly by their authoritarian governments, and - even if their attempts are not always first-time successes - their dynamism may soon overtake ours, if we're not too staid and careful. the people are watching and the rulers (and terror gurus) are aware.
20. President Abusing His Pardon Power To Be Impeached
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (10.18.11)
B"H Hundreds of hardend Arab terrorist with life sentences on their heads marching out of prison is an obvious sign of a break-down of secular legality and Torah morality. With all due respect, Miki Goldwasser's opinion on this corrupted by her own, similar story: No good can come out for the nation from the bargaining with its enemies.
21. Delusional
michaelpielet ,   boca raton, Israel   (10.18.11)
Unfortunately this is a day of shame for Israel. Murderers, terrorrists were released released from prison to commit more terror and more murder. The government has succeeded along with previous governments to legitimize terror, legitimize murder and legitimize the arab right to the land of Israel. The result more terror, more murder and the impossibility of peace. This is just lie, like Oslo believed by the Israeli masses. I am not surprised, the Jews deluded themselves into believing that the great powers would save them from the Germans, during WW2, of course they did not. As a Jew I am ashamed, as an Israeli I am embarrassed. The future for Israel is very bleak. The arabs are more motivated and commited to their cause.
22. I can see only one thing here...
peggy ,   israel/uk   (10.18.11)
and i agree 1 of ours is certainly worth a 1000 of them. Israel has to do something, and fast to prove its strength again, as most of the world sees this as giving in to terrorist, and if Israel can do it, then gives them all a free hand where ever. No terrorist should be taken alive! My sympathies to Mrs Goldwasser and the Regev family, also the 3 that also were returned in a bodybag/box. It must be a heart wrenching day for many and a joyful one for others.
23. Thank you Ms Goldwasser
rebecca ,   Modiin   (10.18.11)
I did not approve of the Regev Goldwasser swap. I do not approve of this swap. But what Mikki said is good to hear. The ratio of 1027 to 1 is one we will hear often from now on. Next time we are forced to act against these animals, they set the ratio, and @!# to anyone who tells us we are over-reacting.
24. The psychology of the maths=nonsensical: SECURE BIG ISRAEL.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (10.18.11)
25. Miki Goldwasser on Gilad's Return
Lenise ,   Israel   (10.18.11)
This is a very difficult thing to understand = it appears that Hamas has won a victory - and in purely rational human reasoning they have - because they have recovered 1027 murderers in return for one Israeli soldier. Israel, however, has won a moral victory which is hard to understand - the victory Israel has won is showing the world the humanity of the people of Israel, and the Jewish people, who care about their flesh and blood. Truly today Israel has shown itself to be a Light to the Nations as is expected of it by HaShem. If the world would learn from the humanity and specialness of the Jewish people, the world can truly be transformed into a Gan Eden.
26. I can understand an ambulance chaser
Sam   (10.18.11)
But who chases after a hearse? The next hostage will come sooner and cost dearer
27. Death penalty
Alfredo ,   Raanana   (10.18.11)
If we had death penalty these murderers would not have walked free, we would not have spent a fortune to keep them in jail, and no hostages taken to free them. Let's think about that
28. miki goldwasser's article
mirmir ,   usa   (10.18.11)
sorry, complainers, she's right. even the most indoctrinated person celebrating in gaza today knows in their heart that their country would never do for them what israel has done for one citizen.
29. I read comments by Turkish people in Hurriyet
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.18.11)
I just read comments by Turkish people in Hurriyet news paper. Most commentators are envious how Israel values each one of their own citizen's life and would do whatever it takes to save them. Many suggest that is was a shameful act for Hamas to return 1 against over 1000. I am pretty sure that the same feelings wil start to settle down soon among Arabs. A warm welcome home to Gilad Shalit and his family. And for all Israeli families who have lost a loved one in the hands of the terrorists that had to be released for Gilad: I understand your sorrow and anger. Your losses can never be returned but I hope that with time you can understand that after all Israel's duty is to do whatever it takes to save each and every Jewish life wherever they are. Isn't this why modern Israel was created?
30. Absolute proof Patriotic Right must take over Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.18.11)
The vile, dangerous Shalit deal, which would never even be considered by any other state, is not a victory or cause for celebration. It is absolute proof the Patriotic Right, which represents the vast majority of Israeli Jews, must take over Israel. We simply can't allow this lunacy to continue. The type of people, who release more than 1,027 murderous terrorists, don't belong in leadership in Israel. Period.
