I agree, except you forgot Johnathan Pollard, who also needs to be brought home to his people.
32. Poor kid
(10.18.11)
This poor kid has turned into an election campaign material of Hamas and Bibi. Are people that naive that any similar exchange deal couldn't have been reached earlier? Of course it could have been done so. Then why now? Well, timing tells it all. Hamas has been losing support against Fatah's diplomatic success, and Bibi has been losing support due to economic problems and international isolation. The best campaign to launch to save Bibi's and Hamas's political future is Gilad campaign. Good luck Gilad, good luck some decent people of Israel and Palestine as you all need that under such despicable politicians.
33. Happy for Shalit family, sad for State of Israel
shneerhere ,   USA   (10.18.11)
I'd pay any price to get child back. And yet, we've released criminals who literally have blood on their hands, like the infamous butcher of Gaza. Eliminating the criminals at the outset would've removed Hamas's target, removing incentive for any kidnappings. Too bad the government has no such fortitude.

40. welcome home dear son
ariel ,   tel, aviv, israel   (10.18.11)
I cried when I saw the first pictures of your release! Welcome home! You have no Idea how much this country lves you! To all the talkbacks who say "was it worth it?" Its eems you are all foreigners from the USA or whereever, how about you live in israel first and feel what it's like ot be israeli before talking about about this deal!!!!
41. Good makeup op, IDF!
observer ,   Egypt   (10.18.11)
even me couldn't see signs of torture on Shalit's face.
42. THANK G-D!!!! But Poor Gilad does not look well---
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (10.18.11)
One can only wonder how the animals in gaza treated Gilad: he looks terribly weak and confused which is heart-breaking. Meanwhile, the arab prisoners are fat and happy and the WHOLE WORLD SEES THIS. This is yet another clear indication of how savage these idiot pals are and how they should be given nothing. We should have taken care of this situation once and for all in 1967...we wouldn't have had ANY of the problems we have today. All of the arabs should have been kicked out of the entire land for being enemies of the state and for crimes against humanity. Welcome Home Gilad! Your life is worth more than the worlds arab population and loads more.
43. To Sarah B. (#3)
Joan ,   Haifa   (10.18.11)
In a word, *absolutely*!
44. To World Citizen (#4)
Jasmin ,   Haifa   (10.18.11)
It is a joyful day. But it is a pipedream to think that the freed Palestinian prisoners will ever have anything positive/truthful to say about Israel.
45. I look at these picture and I choke up
Shira   (10.18.11)
You know, until the moment he landed I was still afraid they are going to return him in a body bag, like they did so many times before... Thank GOD ! He's back, he's ALIVE !!!
46. To Jehuda Ben Israel, #24
Joan ,   Haifa   (10.18.11)
You are correct. Those are precisely the reasons Israel must act strongly now. We want the Palestinians to understand in no uncertain terms that kidnapping Jews is a VERY BAD idea!
47. shalit & 250 PA terrorists
joel ,   usa   (10.18.11)
those imprisoned 250 PA are all terrorists, if one of them can persuade just each & be able to train another terrorists, there would 500 terrorists that Israel will contain to protect the israeli citizens; chances are these terrorists will be more discreet & fierce the next time they strike, ok? its not worth!
48. WELCOME HOME, GILAD!!!
B.H. ,   Florida, USA   (10.18.11)
God bless you and He has kept you and sustained you through the ordeal that you had to endure. Thank God for His grace and magnificent power and strength. We are so glad to see you back home again in Israel!!! Deuteronomy 7:6

Angel ,   Kenya   (10.19.11)

54. Shalit's release
Heloise van Wyk ,   Cape Town, South Afr   (10.19.11)
As a mother of two sons I cannot thin k what I would have done if I were his mother. But I thank God for his release and will pray that he will be safe in years to come. Will he have to go back to the IDF? Will he be sent on dangerous missions in the future? I pray for each and every IDF soldier that God will protect them. I pray that all hostilities will end and that Israel will be able to retrieve, in peace, all land that God gave them.

57. Was it worth it?
jennie ,   bristol. RI   (10.19.11)
YES, YES, and YES. I thank God yoy are not related to me!!
58. to #15 welcome and "treason"
jennie ,   bristol, ri   (10.19.11)
Netanyahu sees the value of one human life. He must know he can handle whatever may come from the release of those terrorists. It did take 5 yrs. ++ for this to happen so therefore I can see much thought went into this deal. On one hand he had an innocent son of Israel, and the other terrorists; the light of one innocent young man won through. Netanyahu has a deep rightheous character. If the state of Israel lets him go I cringe to see what Israel will become with a liberal God-less Prime Minister. So I say to you, Poor Ezra: YOU ARE A BLIND FOOL.
59. 54 Heloise van Wyk, South Africa: The IDF designated
Rivkah   (10.20.11)
