1. Modern Day Saving private ryan ?
Chad ,   U.S.   (10.18.11)
I'm glad to see this man home, but you have to wonder of the 1000 terrorists released how many are going to go back to there old ways , And how many lives will be lost in the future over this? Also my own opinion, IDF....watch yourself you have a high value to these thugs Don't let yourself be taken captive !!
2. Next small incident and then carpet bomb Gaza off the map!

Robert ,   farmington,wv   (10.19.11)
Ye but in saving Ryan they did it the right way , they found him , they kick butt , and brought him home , unlike what just happen , like the game show lets make a deal. just show how weak the IDF has become.
4. locators
DGS ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
IDF might have inserted tiny undetectable gps locators in their buffs in order to monitor them, the first bad move they do, we know where they are!
5. ISRAEL MUST BE MORE CAREFUL AND RUTHLESS
David ,   NJUSA   (10.19.11)
6. Gilads condition
Rabbi Yakov Lazaros ,   USA   (10.19.11)
He looks thin as a rail and pale as a ghost. Who knows what these monsters did to him. My guess is that the family is keeping quite to protect his privacy.
7. Pride
DOV ,   USA   (10.19.11)
If you were forced to defend your country wouldn't Gilads freedom inspire you to believe in what you were doing. Welcome home Shalit Gilad.
8. By American standards he seems thin.
Michael ,   California, USA   (10.19.11)
We have so many overweight people here who will envy how Gilad looks. Maybe Gaza can make money offering weight loss programs to Americans? I trust Gilad's mother will cook an excellent chicken soup for him. But will she be able to afford cottage cheese?
9. Nutritional state?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.19.11)
Look at him. Skin and bones. I think that we need to put the ersatz "Palestinians" in Israeli prisons on bread and water. Teach them a little lesson.
10. Follow this conditions as posssible for hamass terrorists
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (10.19.11)
11. What Is Israel's Condition?
emanon ,   USA   (10.19.11)
I am glad Gilad Shalit is free. Time, medicine and meditation will heal him. But what of Israel? How many more bloodstained terrorists will be freed over the coming days and months and yet the arab terrorists will not back down from their desire to destroy all Jews and occupy all of Israel. What concessions towards peace will they make? What condition is Israel in to defend itself and prevent future extortion demands backed by the kidnapping of more Israelis?
12. Baruch Hashem Baruch Gilad
patricia ,   ontario, canada   (10.19.11)
I'm so glad Gilad is well, but I do fear for the other Israeli soldiers in general in that they too will be targeted for kidnapping as a means of ransoming terrorists in the Israeli jails. I suppose Israel saves herself the cost of keeping prisoners and perhaps should dispatch them in the field. It's disgusting that the terrorists were all fat and energetic which attests to Israel's humane treatment of them while Gilad is skeletel and less animated.
13. Failing Gilad
Ross ,   Moran, Wyoming - USA   (10.19.11)
Although I am as happy as anyone in Israel at Gilad's return, I cannot but be sad for the failure that took 5 and 1/2 years to secure his release. I respect PM Netanyahu, but if I were in his shoes, I could not hug Gilad. I certainly wouldn't expect a salute. I think I would offer an apology on behalf of the government and military to this man who has lost and endured so much. I pray that G** will grant him wholeness and peace. I pray that he will find whatever it is he needs to become a whole and happy person again. After years of deprevation, the light appears to have left his eyes. I pray that it will return brighter than ever. Shalom!
14. Gilad
judith   (10.19.11)
Will people now say that everything bad happening to us is because of Gilad ??? Didnt bad things happen anyway in the past, when it had nothing to do we prisoner release/
15. his mother's chicken soup will speed up his recovery for sur
Au. ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.19.11)
16. No more prisoners
JP ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
This should never happen again. Immediate DEATH sentences to all terrorists (if they don't succeed in blowing themselves up!)
17. #1, "Shalit, earn this... earn it".
mary of Bethany ,   singapore   (10.19.11)
quoting from your Saving Private Ryan: Captain Miller to Private Ryan breathing his last breathe: "James, earn this... earn it". so shall we say to Shalit, "earn this... earn it" yet Shalit is given a Second Chance where lots of Victims have not, may Shalit live his life worthwhile the sacrifices many made, the sacrifices many is making, the sacrifices many will be making soon in future released terrorists attacks. Shalit, make your life COUNT! from now on, Die to self to live! G-D bless.
18. #17
Sam ,   ME   (10.19.11)
He's already earned it when he served in the army
19. Whole chicken
Jew1 ,   Ashod   (10.19.11)
I wish Gilad full recovery! But after seeing his interview, one thing was clear that he didn't get the whole chicken to eat in his cell as all those terrorists get to eat in Israeli prisons. He did not get to go to collage as all those terrorists get in Israel. He did not see sun light as all those terrorists get in Israeli prisons with full medical care. In conclusion, CNN, BBC and others are now going to sing songs on terrible Israeli conditions in prison and will not even mention Gilad conditions in captivity
20. Free!!!!
Nabil ,   UAE   (10.19.11)
Yea...Gilad is free now...while more than 5000 Pals. are still behind freedom, i hope this hard lesson will be shining more and more in future.
21. nabil UAE
asitis ,   bournemouth england   (10.19.11)
Yes Nabil 5000 palestinians remain in Israeli prisons. Israel would much rather not have them and spend the money on helping its own poor (including Arab Israelis) But as long as terrorists maim and kill children and civilians they will continue to occupy the jails. I would much rather deal with them like you do in Arab countries namely cut their heads off in public executions but you see Israel is part of the civilised world not living in the ages of barbarism like you do!
22. Good.
Ypip ,   Canada   (10.19.11)
"He will be closely watched in the coming weeks and later be placed under the responsibility of the Defense Ministry's Rehabilitation Department."
23. Families
boardrider ,   Haifa, Israel   (10.19.11)
"However, it appears that Gilad shared some of these details with his families" How many families does Gilad Shalit have?
24. 23-Sgt. Shalit has a very large family
Ypip ,   Canada   (10.19.11)
25. #8 oh my god are yu for real
Janet ,   israel   (10.19.11)
26. Health / over weight palestian prisoners
liz ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
The palestian prisoners (terrorists) look healthy (over feed) mentaly and pysically . If you look at Gilat Shalit., thin , pale &, stressed . He has no proper vision - no specticales ! Everybody can know the difference between Hamas and Israeli's .
