32. Gilad Schalit
Janet Finkel ,   Brooklyn, NY   (10.19.11)
Untrue about NYC - there's a billboard on the BQE headed Westbound demanding that we do not forget about Gilad's plight and demand his safe return! There were plenty of posters at UN protests as well.

Lena ,   Russia, Moscow   (10.19.11)
Chaya, I'm not a Jewish. I would like to join you in Israel, because I love this country, visited 4 times and plan to visit again. But it's not easy to be a part of your country if you're not jew. Anyway, I'm very glad about Gilad, the whole day yeasterday I whatched live here, in ynet. And cryed. I really hope Gilad will return to noraml life as soon as possible. An you and your daughter may be should send him a present, letter or something, let him now you think about him, and care. But, Chaya, I'm against about all this photos as a pop star, about all this articles. It's not journalism! I guess Gilad needs support of the nation, but not hot news about him and his dinner!
34. #30 - the way Gilad looks
Janet Finkel ,   Brooklyn, NY   (10.19.11)
Gilad looks like he's a concentration camp survivor - unlike the fat, joyous Palestinian murders that were released in the exchange. Ken, it's time you get your eyeglass prescription checked.
35. He was barely kept alive,as a a pawn
Tal ,   usa   (10.19.11)
He is a broken man and looks like a concentration camp survivor. He has lived in fear and deep anguish for nearly 2000 days,We have no idea of the extent of abuse but just looking at him says plenty. So please cut the bull about "good condition" we are not that stupid.Just leave him space and privacy to do some healing. He will never be the same.

Ken ,   Burma   (10.19.11)
The fact you live in the U.S.A. speaks volumes, first of all fat is a sign of mal-nutrition, to many big macs, pizzas, etc. Slim is healthy. In Gaza, your lucky not to starve for what Israel allowed in, where as the prisoners in Israel are fat like you, to much junk food. (;-] .
37. Hadas is in the IDF!
Jason ,   NYC   (10.19.11)
She's stationed in a base. That's why she couldn't stay for dinner.
38. Stop the god damn media circus..its over its done
Al   (10.19.11)
Let the poor kid come back to himself. It breaks my heart to see what has become of him. Our enemies are cruel sub-human dreg. Israel is now in a position that will become quite dire. The arabs are smelling our blood and they are getting ready to inflict great pain on us. If the security leadership is worth a half nickel this is the time to show what can be done. I hope to hell the IDF has learned a lesson. You dont take prisoners!
39. Good condition? Depends on your concept of "good condition".
Harry Wright ,   UK   (10.19.11)
My concept of good condition is like those Arab prisoners released in the swap. I saw a fragile (mental and physical), gaunt, pale, disoriented and slightly unsteady Gilad - in the early stage of marasmus, definitely lacking energy and even looking spaced out at times, sunken eyes, listless, coping on adrenalin at the slightest sign of intimidation. And let me say, that Nazi interrogator succeeded in intimidating him in his fragile state. I heard many male voices as the interrogation progressed. I suppose all the Hamas and Egyptian guards present served as interpreters as well and contributed to the cacaphony while the Gestapo interrogator smiled in glee at Gilad's confusion. In spite of that, he did well for himself and Israel can be proud of him. At no point did the interrogator show any compassion for him. She moved on only when it was too obvious that she was pushing him too hard because she did not want anyone to accuse her of tormenting him, which was exactly what she was doing. No siree! That is not my concept of "good condition". Maybe in medical terms if you are not on the brink of death you can be described as being in good condition. My concept of "good condition" is physical, mental and emotional wellness and as far as I am concerned, Gilad's condition as seen does not qualify.
40. 37, you're kidding! They could have released her
Harry Wright ,   UK   (10.19.11)
for 24 hours. Heartless!
41. what is the use of body guards for Gilad?
observer ,   Egypt   (10.19.11)
to prevent him from joining the refuseniks or at least prevent them from attacking him.

Read & learn. ''Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs." Co-ordinator of Government Activities in the Territories. April 2011 Report. 2,164 truckloads were delivered by Israel into the Gaza Strip through the Keren Shalom Crossing, including; 1,053 truckloads of food. 31 truckloads of clothing & footwear. 85 truckloads of electrical products. 17 truckloads of textiles. 127 truckloads of construction material. 45 truckoalds of inputs for agriculture. Fuel; The transfer of cooking gas & fuel for transportation continued throughout the month (of April) in accordance with the PA'S requests. No one in Gaza is starving & no one in Gaza is walking around without clothes.

Birdi ,   Israel & proud of it   (10.19.11)
There you go again giving Israel your ''valuable'' advice. You dont take prisoners? no? you allow them to run free & kill again & again & again?? Due to your excitable disposition you omitted to end your post with, ''dont take prisoners, shoot them dead!!" Go take a nap Al, you are tired.
44. #41 - to keep the swooning female fans away, stupid.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (10.19.11)
45. #43 your command of the English language is poor
Al   (10.19.11)
When I say you dont take prisoners...it means you shoot to kill. No go back and suck on you lollipop...dearie.
46. # 45
Birdi ,   Israel   (10.19.11)
Next time, say exactly what you mean, ducks.
47. DISAGREEMENT IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
SJOERD RUURD VAN DER ,   MULTIVERSE   (10.19.11)
NOW MORDECHAIN VANUNU AND THE REST OF THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE IN PRISON AND SO ON DESERVE ALSO TO BE FREE FOR PEACE AND PROSPERITY.
48. 45 - no one in Gaza is walking around naked like Rihanna.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (10.19.11)
Is that what you preferred him to say? Would that have helped in your assessment of his command of English? You ain't see nothing yet! You should see how the Brits write their own language. Bottom line - lay off peoples' writing skills. Shame on you.
49. "FESTIVAL SHALIT"
fcd ,   israel   (10.19.11)
when will it be over. on one hand the family wants privacy.......?????? on the other hand they are available for the press. enough is enough. he was released................... let's start concentrating on more serious things that we have to face and solve.
50. 49. No! No! No! When an event unites 80% of Israel,
Harry Wright ,   UK   (10.19.11)
you don't shove it off. This issue had a tremendous psychological impact on the people and it will diffuse in its own time. What do you prefer for discussion - the price of cottage cheese? Tel Aviv's dismantled tent city? Abbas' demotion in the eyes of the Arabs? You should be complaining about the coverage given to the Arab exchange prisoners, not the lone Israeli one.
51. #34
Ken ,   Burma   (10.19.11)
Are you saying " Gaza reminds you of a concentration camp and Gilad looks like a concentration camp survivor", oh whatever. Gilad looks good to me, he's alive, much better than dead like so many in that part of the world. ps hamburgers will kill you.
52. #7 what is your problem?
Adamo ,   Sydney Australia   (10.20.11)
Why so much generalization and hatred for the French? Did u see any other foreign nation helping out during Schalits captivity? What did u expect the French Gov to do?? There are more Jews living in France than any other European country, how bout speaking out against Israels real enemies instead of badgering an ally that has done more for Israel than most other western countries.
53. FEED HIM LOTS OF ICE CREAM, CAKE & PASTRAMIES ON RYE!!!
(10.20.11)
He needs to get his weight back. God Bless Gilad Shalit God Bless Israel!!!!!
54. To: No. 51
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.20.11)
He is thin and gaunt. Keep in mind that once Hamas knew that they would release him, they probably doubled his rations. Imagine what he looked like for the greater part of his captivity. Contrast it with the healthy, overfed and overweight terrorists released from Israel's prisons. By the way -- have you not heard? Your country is now called Myanmar. Burma's long gone. Imbecile.
55. # 48
Birdi ,   Israel   (10.20.11)
Harry dear, please, I am female, so its ''her" & not ''him'' Thanks.
56. Guilad
Kalfa ,   Paris France   (10.20.11)
There was a great photo of gilad on the townhall in Roma.
57. #54
Ken ,   Burma   (10.20.11)
Gilad is now a free man, I prefer to let him speak for himself. No one needs you to speak for them, not everyone is a racist. Burma and Myanmar are the same place just like Palestine and Israel, It's more a case of what you wish to call it. I won't tell you not to be a racist, please don't tell me what to call Burma. Why do you find it so hard to say something nice about Gilad, I think he's been through enough, why not cut him some slack, he's pay his dues. To Gilad, "welcome home, have a great day"
58. .
SARA ,   ISRAEL   (10.20.11)
IM SURE THE IDF WOULD LET HER OUT ....
