1. Pals attacking Jews would NEVER happen w/out Shalit deal
Charles   (10.23.11)
Yes, Jews were never stabbed by Palestinians before Shalit was released. Besides, why blame the Palestinian who actually knifed the boy when you can blame Netanyahu? After all, we know that if Bibi rejected the deal for Shalit, all Palestinians would retreat to their houses in fear of Israel's strength - they would not have been angry in the least little way.
2. Law change
Ram ,   London   (10.23.11)
Capital punishment for terrorists!!
3. There would be so many solutions to help preventing
Keren ,   IL-BR   (10.23.11)
...such things. Another of them was to drain "palestinians"sources of living in Israel . Every time such thing happens, fire indiscriminatly 100 arab men and women from public or particular services in Israel. They are around because they and their families yet have jobs in Israel.
4. Yes the Shalit deal gave more strenght to terrorists
(10.23.11)
5. Charles #1
Golani ,   Israel   (10.23.11)
You need help...
6. Release Prisoners and
Moragh USA   (10.23.11)
what do you get Bibi?..... SPOT ON..... more stabbings and more Israeli deaths. This young man was lucky, but what will happen to the next one? SPOT 0N Bibi, he will die and if a young girl, she will first be brutally raped and then stabbed to death! It is DEFINITELY time for a Mr. Lieberman to lead the way... no more softies handing over Israel on a golden platter to any more Arabs. If you no longer want your country Bibi, then pack up and move out!
7. #2 so u want to change the 10 commandments?
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem of course!   (10.23.11)
right there in the Tanach the sixth commandment is: "Thou shalt NOT murder" I don't see any exceptions which allow for the murder (what you call "Capital Punishment") for terrorists. So Ram in London "Ma HaKeta Shelcha?" (What's your problem?)
8. with all due respect to Mr. Indor, Sir ur logic is way off!
Bereaved widow ,   Jerusalem   (10.23.11)
Mr. Indor, I understand your pain, your anger and your fear....for they are also my pain, my anger and my fear. But over the years since my husband was murdered in a terrorist attack I have learned to deal with my anger and fear so that I may see through to life and living well. I choose life and living well despite the pain of my loss. I pray that you too will reach the point of understanding that your statement places you in a position where you ability to logically understand what motivates a terrorist is hatred and disrespect for life and not the release of Gilad Shalit. Sir with all due respect you claim does not ring true it rings political, boarish and ignorant.
9. Baloney - Palestinian culture is to attack civilians
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (10.23.11)
The Arabs don't need any new excuses to attack Israeli civilians. They've been promoting this in their "culture" for the past century. It's time to call a spade a spade and recognize "Palestine" for what it is and wants to be - just another brutal Arab country. "Palestine" is built on terrorism and human rights abuses - both against Israel and against their own people. Releasing Shalit was the right thing to do. Preventing the next kidnapping and the next Palestinian terrorist attack is our challenge. The fault is not the government, but rather the weak and erroneous liberal western belief that "Palestinians" needed to be coddled in order to bring them into the civilized world. Forget it, folks. The Palestinians are not interested in "human rights" and other silly western notions. It's time to stop the funding for them until they comply with the values of the money suppliers. Palestinian Authority praising attacks and encouraging kidnappings = no western donations.
10. There would still be attacks.
Michael ,   West Jerusalem   (10.23.11)
I feel bad for the guys, but they can't just start blaming everything on the swap. And plus remember the bombing in march next to the central bus station in Jerusalem. That was before the swap.
11. So glad Gilad is home,,,,,,,
jan ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.23.11)
and I'm sorry for anyone who has lost a loved one through terror. Gilad has been through enough let us not make it harder for him by giving him this false idea that anything that happens now is because of his release. By the way if any of you need reminding of the nature of the beast, watch the footage of gadaffi's killing. This is the people-screaming bloodthirsty hyenas the world has to deal with. A cult of death. Be happy to be in the cult of life.
12. Lets blame someone so lets blame Gilad!
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (10.23.11)
Sorry but if you think this attack was because Gilad was released then you must be sick. Did the Fogel family z''l get murdered because the release of Gilad Shalit.
13. #8 My respect!
Borislava ,   Sofia, Bulgaria   (10.23.11)
You are very smart and strong woman
14. Last week Israel had its feel good moment...now its
Al   (10.23.11)
time for a wake up call. It didnt take long...did it? Dumb doesnt begin to describe the Jews in Israel. Your leadership reflects you. Oh by the way...do you think the PC Shalits will be visiting the familes of the wounded and the murdered in the future?...I didnt think so.
15. Scapegoat
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (10.23.11)
The Jews were always the scapegoat now its Gilad Shalit and the Government. Face the facts there will always be terrorist attacks as long as there is Hamas. Best solution kill them and don't take them prisoners then we will not have bargaining chips and they will think before another attack. They must have run out of virgins by now.
16. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.23.11)
This beautiful young boy was stabbed because he is a Jew. It IS political. If you do not understand this, then you are the boorish one. Try honoring your husband's memory by helping get rid of the ones who rendered you a widow. I am heartily sorry for your loss.
17. 2 #16: "Battle not with monsters lest you become one."
#8   (10.23.11)
The words are Friedrich Nietzsche. I use them to remember that murderers of civilians are monsters and I refuse to allow them to win by turning me into an angry, fearful monster like them. I choose life and I choose peace and in this way I greatly honor the memory of my husband by learning for myself and teaching his (our) children that there is a different stronger way to walk to peace. Thank you for your comments. (p.s. May I suggest that you look at the trials of our patriach Abraham to reach some understanding of what it means to accept the will of G-d. Further please consider viewing Abraham's argument with G-d re: what is acceptable 'collateral damage' with respect to Sodom and Gomorrah civilian residents. In other words G-d has left us guidelines in these matters it is up to us as His children to look them up and learn the lessons they teach)
18. Besides...
Keren ,   IL-BR   (10.23.11)
Death penalty should be implemented in Israel for such cases. It is not understandable why that hasn't happened yet. Can anyone in the govt. answer why hasn't that been implemented yet?
19. 4goodness sakes! what is it w/u people & the death penalty?
(10.23.11)
Everyone knows that the death penalty doesn't prevent crime or murder so what are u #18 and #2 all about? Death penalty = blind hatred & bloodthirsty revenge! Is that what ur Judaism teaches you? (so very sad for you)
20. #7 and #2
Hanna ,   Tel Aviv   (10.23.11)
So... believe it or not, number 2 is right... according to Jewish law if someone is coming to kill you, than it is your obligation to kill them, therefore, they should get capital punishment, so drop the humanitarian bs, and go ask your local rabbi... I am sure there are plenty of those in Jerusalem...
21. Never has been a terror attack in israel
Kevin ,   Tel aviv   (10.23.11)
You are acting like israel never had a terror attack before. There have been many many before gilad shalit and there will be many after. The Arabs will always attack us no mater what we say or do. You should know this by now
22. #20 Bidiuk!
(10.23.11)
23. #1 imagine
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (10.23.11)
Imagine if instead of releasing the murderers in exchange for Shalit, Israel reduce their conditions to the minimum required by international law. Or imagine if Israel shut down the NGOs and Goldstone and started a rescue mission with the plan to kill at least 5000 Hamas soldiers? Or imagine if Israel started building 500 new Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria every day until Shalit was released. Do you think the Arabs would have motivation to attack?
24. @Hanna in TLV
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem of course!   (10.23.11)
I strongly urge u to drop the mean spirited and nasty attitude (least I fully realize that your personal attack against me comes from your insecurity about your own position) and go learn something before running off at the mouth in clear & total ignorance! May I suggest that you ask your local Rabbi (Rabbi Lau lives in TLV he's a former Chief Rabbi of Israel & Holocaust Survivor he's a good choice for you) to explain to you what it says in the canon of Jewish law about this matter. For starters (not in order as I am going from memory here, but ask your local rabbi he'll make seder/order for you): 1. "A court which executes (carries out Capital Punishment) once in 70 years is referred to as a bloody court." 2. THE ONLY TIME a Jew is allowed to murder someone is at the precise moment that the murderer raises his hand (you may read weapon) against the Jew. If the only way to prevent the murderer from murdering the Jew is for the Jew to murder the murderer then it is allowed to murder the murderer. Capital punishment DOES NOT fit that definition therefore it is not allowed.
25. Raze the village and ban all the arabs
jason white ,   afula, israel   (10.23.11)
from there to enter Israel. Set up a Civil Guard unit of former I.D.F. veterans.
26. #7
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (10.23.11)
What about an eye for an eye? I don't think ram has a problem, but maybe you do.
27. Releaing those lowlife was NOT the way to free Shalit.B'vakasha
Alan ,   SA   (10.23.11)
28. @26 please c Talmud at Bava Kamma, 83b-84a
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem of course!   (10.23.11)
what is commonly referred to as "eye for an eye" (aka "Lex Talionis") is interpreted there as mandating monetary compensation in torts court. If I have understood your short comment correctly your interpretation is the one applied by the Sadducees sect to the various Biblical passages which call for "an eye for an eye". The Sadducees were unusually strict and inflexible in matter of justice. For the record please note that the Sadducees ceased to exist circa 70 common era (around the time our Temple was destroyed due to Baseless Hatred)
29. @Sally don't agree w/u but am impressed by ur knowledge
(10.23.11)
It is good to see a person support their position by bringing down Tanach and Talmudic sources. It's the Jewish way. Thank you for sharing.
30. Death Penalty for terrorists and murderers is only solution
Israel is not Europe   (10.23.11)
