1. He was clearly a captive and should have been protected as a
Rivkah   (10.23.11)
POW. The killer should be tried for murder and violations of the Geneva Convention. What pigs.
2. That's standard procedure...
Jef Costello ,   Paris   (10.23.11)
Oh well...
3. Libya's new President?
brett1956 ,   New York, USA   (10.23.11)
Well looks like we have a strong contender for the Presidency of this wonderful country.
4. He got the same mercy he dealt out, NONE. Justice was done.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (10.23.11)
5. Justice
Jaime Salceda ,   Juarez, Mexico   (10.23.11)
Since when is sharia law any better than Gaddafi?
6. The Colonel and Saddam
Christobal ,   Dallas, USA   (10.23.11)
Compared to the way Qaddafi was treated by his captors, Saddam was treated like a King by his Shiite handlers and he got a reasonable trial. And many in the "international community" were fit to be tried, including the Saudi king. This was to have been a test case for the UN and the ICJ. Well, they failed and miserably. Saddam, at least three or four Qaddafis, was treated with much more dignity. Qaddafi was treated like a dog by a growling mob. The ICJ: The International Clique of Just Us. Watch your back those on the outside. Just US 50 Justice -100
7. If that's true this guy is a lowly coward
W. ,   Beirut, LB   (10.23.11)
thug who murdered a 70 year old captive. I wish that Ghaddafi's tribe will avenge his death.
8. You reap what you sow
Robert ,   Victoria Canada   (10.23.11)
I agree that this was not the best outcome and wiser heads should have prevailed. But this is an 18 year old kid from Misrata with a gun, not a trained soldier. He suddenly foudnd himself facing someone who may well have killed family members. Misrata was targeted by Gaddafi much like the Nazis treated Warsaw after the rebellion there in 1944 when they murdered many of the inhabitants and destroyed the city. Without the NATO air cover it would have likely been a total massacre in Misrata too and as it was many died. I haven't walked in this kid's moccasins but if I was him I might well have pulled the trigger too.
9. who admits to doing this?
zeev ,   nyc   (10.23.11)
it is possible his admission is true. but why identify yourself? you are only making yourself a target for a revenge murder. i would as soon keep quiet about having pulled the trigger, and probably would have cut off his hand to sell on the black market or something, or maybe just as a souvenir for my wall hangings.
10. Clearly he should have been captured not executed
Netshark ,   Bloomington Il USA   (10.24.11)
The outcome eventually would have been the same, but if he was hiding and not fighting or resisting, no matter the monster he is, he's to get a fair trial, then hung promptly.
11. Live by the gun; die by the gun.
TCE ,   Miami, USA   (10.24.11)
Live by the gun; die by the gun.
12. Hillary: We came, We saw, He died
Maxwell ,   USA   (10.24.11)
Hillary attempts to lay claim to victory to Gaddafi's execution, Obama gets a bump in the polls after the American media spins this into an Obama foreign policy success. Obama said "America's involvement would be days, not weeks" ...It was 8 months, and the UN approved "no-fly-zone" suddenly turned into the wanton assassination of an unpopular world leader. Let's see what karma brings...
13. Awww, poor Muammar
Daniel ,   Miami, USA   (10.24.11)
Didn't get his Miranda rights read to him? Boo hoo hoo. I wonder how many Libyan political prisoners begged for their lives in the final seconds of life and were completely ignored by his thugs. Live by the sword, die by the People. Good riddance to that old butcher.
14. Libyan rebel: I killed Gaddafi
Tisiphone ,   Boston, MA   (10.24.11)
It appears that the "rebel" was a 18 year old kid. I know nothing, but let us assume that Gaddafi was directly responsible for the death of his siblings, or parents. I would have taken the shot, or lived to regret it. "When you raise your sword against a King, throw away the scabbard"
15. Karma
student1776 ,   NY, USA   (10.24.11)
Karma for Gaddafi. Could not have happened to a more deserving guy.
16. Kaddafi
John Q. Public ,   Texas   (10.24.11)
He received the justice he deserved. Justice does not necessarily require a trial. He would have been executed after a trial anyway. Now the Libyans can move on.. Hopefully not towards becoming a haven for the Muslim Brotherhood. Anyone that thinks Kaddafi should have been tried is a pussy.
17. Slaughter of Gaddafi
Goldenco ,   Denver US   (10.24.11)
Strict Shiria law coming to a town near you!
18. Bang Bang gaddafi
DICK ,   atlanta, USA   (10.24.11)
So they offed him big deal, he got off lite, a beheading would have been much more fitting. Now THAT would be some good TV.
19. real smart guy aren't ya?
smarty ,   everwhere usa   (10.24.11)
Good job Rivkah, identifying a civil war rebel as a signatory to the Geneva convention. Where did you find that info? Was Osama bin Laden's and Al Quieda's there also? Jaq-azz!
20. Libyan leader shot
Dave ,   Panama City USA   (10.24.11)
When men come to power with violence, they usually leave the same way. What does that say about the current leaders of Libya?
21. Not all Ghaddafi's sons and relatives and tribesmen are dead
Rivkah   (10.24.11)
They will avenge this just as the Las Vegas mafia has vowed to avenge any Muslim nuclear attack on Las Vegas with the total annihilation of every relative of the people responsible. So I expect the killer of Gaddafi and all his relatives will die in vendettas. It is like the Third Reich that went underground to become the Fourth Reich which is rising with Adolf Hitler's biological daughter as Chancellor of Germany. Angela Merkel is a worthy sovereign but her genetics are still that of a mass murderer. According to Stassi East German records, Angela Merkel is the daughter of Gretl Braun, younger sister of Eva Braun and the frozen semen of Adolf Hitler. She was adopted at birth by a Lutheran minister and his wife in East Germany. (The Last Trumpet newsletter, August 2007). Colonel Gaddafi has a son in the US White House who probably ordered his biological father's death. That should be the first target of the sons of Gaddafi.
22. Nostradamus gives a clue on the revenge of Gaddafi that will
Rivkah   (10.24.11)
come. A Libyan iron ship under the sea (submarine) will destroy Vatican City where the crusade against Libya no doubt originated. That is what Nostradamus saw long ago in a vision of the future.
23. The son in exile should purchase a mafia hit on this killer
(10.24.11)
who shot a POW and also purchase a hit on every relative he has.
24. Qadaffi death
David ,   San Diego, USA   (10.24.11)
OK, so an excited 18-year-old popped a cap in Qadaffi. The execution was not authorized by the Transitional National Council, and there's no way the NTC could have prevented it. They did the same to Mussolini, by the way, and there was no "inquest" at that time. Just drop it. It's done.
25. POW
gene ,   dbq, usa   (10.24.11)
The stupid speak. It is a civil war you idiot. Neither side a signatures to the Geneva Convention.
26. Just desserts
sideways ,   grants pass, usa   (10.24.11)
Does the name Benito Mussolini sound familiar? Would have been cathardic to treat Kadaffi in a similiar fashion.
27. I shot Gaddafi
fishfry ,   Pacifica, CA   (10.24.11)
But I did not shoot his deputy da da da da da da da da .... I shot Gaddafi But I did not shoot his deputy ... etc.
28. slanted
son of liberty ,   chi usa   (10.24.11)
Had this been Netanyahu at the hands of the UN for his crimes against the Palestinians, would you bee sayiing garbage, like, Clearly he deserved what he got... Like who the Hell do you think you are?
29. Justice Was Served?
Alarmed In Texas ,   Houston, Texas USA   (10.24.11)
I was no fan of his murderous dictatorship and was hoping that he would meet his maker shortly but everyone deserves due process after they are in custody. It is a sad day when we execute our adversaries without any type of formal judgment. It sets a rather dangerous precedence for future events to leave it one individual to become the judge, jury and executioner regardless of who are enemies are.
30. Coward
Rudy Senter ,   New York NY   (10.24.11)
Only a coward would punch a man bloodied and held down by a dozen others. Only a coward would then shoot that man. Only a fool would brag about it afterwards.
