1. Abbas worst choice? No.
Nora Tel Aviv   (10.24.11)
True ,with a guy like that nothing will happen.Nothng good, but surely nothing bad for Israel. if replaced, things might happen. Good or bad? Who knows.
2. Lieberman tells it like it is (end)
Jordan Ariel ,   Philadelphia USA   (10.24.11)
3. Arafat , the next choice
arafat ,   ram allah   (10.24.11)
4. lieberman--love him
arne ,   chicago, usa   (10.24.11)
this guy's tough and gutsy. he says what most israelis think. he'll never give away the store and i feel the same way about bibi. israel has great leadership now. god bless them and keep them strong.
5. So, dear Avigdor, Abu Mazen is your personal agenda?
Michael ,   California, USA   (10.24.11)
This agenda, which combined with the vodka you are drinking on Sundays, is making you make unhelpful statements on Mondays. Come on Avigdor, you can do better. Learn from Hillary how to never lose your optimism. Think outside the box and come out with helpful ideas on how to enhance peace.
6. Lieberman
Abraham Nachmias ,   Petach Tikva IL   (10.24.11)
I don't "like" this guy, but for sure he dares to say what 80% of Israelis think and I feel I can believe him more than what I believe Bibi!
7. I don't get it...
David, ,   Raanana, Israel   (10.24.11)
Is Liberman saying that knowing that "they hate us so much " and therefore Abbas will be supported, obtaining the opposite of his statements? Anyway "Rather bear the ills we have than fly to others that we not know of"
8. Abbas is an illegitimate president
zionist forever   (10.24.11)
Abbas was legally obligated to hold presidential and parliamentary elections two years ago but he keeps putting them off. First he decided to put them suspend them for one year and when that year was up he decided to suspend them for another year. He has talked about holding elections which he won't take part in after his UN bid but don't hold your breath on that promise. The whole palestinian political system is a sham. When Hamas won the last election first thing that happened was Fatah & Hamas men had gun battles in the streets because Fatah couldn't accept the fact they had lost power. After the election it was agreed that the PM would be Hamas. After Hamas took Gaza Abbas illegally kicked out the Hamas PM and installed a Fatah man. In the last three years Abbas has proven its a waste of time even trying to talk to him. Its time for Israel to look to new senior members of the PA who it believes it can do business with and then wait and see what happens if and when the elections come and Abbas steps down.
9. Truth hurts. Abbas just another petty Arab dictator
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (10.24.11)
Strange that the media stopped reporting what the Palestinians themselves say about their president who just won't go away. What do the Pals say? Abbas sux. Big time. It's the Pals who say so. He's seen as just another Arafat flunkie from Tunisia who surrounds himself with yesmen and holds on to power years after elections were supposed to be held. The best Abbas can do is stay away from peace talks, because he knows he can't sign a deal. So yea, he's doing a great job at doing nothing.
10. Thank you, future PM!
A ,   Belgium   (10.24.11)
11. Two points Mr. FM
Mike S ,   Phoenix, USA   (10.24.11)
First: it's funny you're the one talking about personal agenda and obstacles. I mean at least you should have let someone else say that. Second: it's disturbing that you are strongly attacking Abbas who has vowed to avoid violence at all costs. Or is that what's making him so bad? It is easier to deal with Hamas, right?
12. Lieberman has turned out to be pro-Masha'al
observer ,   Egypt   (10.24.11)
13. What on earth has happened to Soviet math education.
sasha ,   Bilbao, Basque   (10.24.11)
200% sure? can somebody please explain this?
14. Right on the spot
Brod ,   USA   (10.24.11)
Lieberman is absolutely right.
15. Lieberman : The consummate politician and the next Churchill
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (10.24.11)
16. ROHEN MEDZINI- ''FM..''
SJOERD RUURD VAN DER ,   MIULTIVERSE   (10.24.11)
THE YISRAEL BEITEINU REVISIONIST PARTY CAN BE AN OBSTACLE TO PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
17. Anyone is better the Lieberman
Barry ,   Boston   (10.24.11)
Lieberman has been the worst choice for foreign minister. He has needlessly hurt Israel's reputation around the world without giving Israel anything to show for it. Even if he says what everyone else in Israel is thinking, there actually is an advantage to not alienating every diplomat you meet.
18. Whoever replaces Abbas will be another terrorist.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.24.11)
Lieberman is way off target here. Fatah and the P.A. are terrorist organizations. By definition, their leader will be a terrorist. So whoever replaces Abbas will be another terrorist. So it doesn't make the slightest difference who heads the PA. and Fatah.
19. Even Hamas would be better.
Vlad   (10.24.11)
The Palestinian Authority is doing something much more harmful to Israel than Hamas ever could - undermining its international standing and cultivating sympathy by portraying itself as a victim. If Hamas were to run the West Bank, there would be no obsession over settlements. Israel would be legitimately fighting a foe attacking it, and the world would at least understand, if not support it.
20. Lieberman is right, as usual
Courtney ,   Charleston US   (10.24.11)
21. What's The Matter Lieberman, Abbas Have More Backbone....
World Citizen ,   the world   (10.24.11)
Than You Intended When You Gave Him The West Bank To "Rule"? Lieberman is a political troglodyte, an albatross around the necks of all intelligent Israelis. What an embarassment to your country. He would be funny if he wasn't so dangerous.
22. funny
Palestinian ,   Ramallah   (10.24.11)
if Mr. Abbas is not a peace maker.. then there is no man on this earth who is a peace maker.. of course, you are a man of war and hate.. how can such a person who is not even respected world wide like you talk about others?
23. #1,Nora you are absolutely RIGHT !!!
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (10.24.11)
Abbas is an ASSET....he guarantees the "failure" of these so called peace negotiations...
24. I'm no fan of Lieberman, but
Elad Lending ,   Yahel, Israel   (10.25.11)
he's right about Abbas. Abbas wears nice suits (instead of khaki) and speaks softly and politely, but... he's afraid to come out to play. Rest assured that he will always find an excuse not to enter negotiations.
25. Palestinian
Birdi ,   Israel   (10.25.11)
how can you call Abbas a peacemaker? He was the master mind of the Munich Olympics attack on the Israeli participants, amongst other attacks he orchestrated, he is not to be trusted 1 iota.
26. ABBAS HAS NO POWER. HIS TERM
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (10.25.11)
was due long time ago. Liberman is correct. Abbas can't defeat Ham Ass polictically nor physically. He will then be the president of a country called West Bank after Nov 11th, and that is it. The plan has already worked for Israel. We are fine as long as Ham Ass wants to fight us. They will have to integrate and get more support from Egypt and there goes Plaestine as we know it.
27. Get your mind right, Luke.
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (10.25.11)
What we have here, is failure, to communicate.
28. #22 Listen........
carlos ,   San Diego U.S.A.   (10.25.11)
Mr. Lieberman is superior to your Bin Laden, Abbas, Assad, Mubarak, Gadaffi, Komenei, Ahmadinejad, Nasrallah, Mashall, Haniyeh and company
29. #15. Lieberman is the most Churchillian top Israeli leader.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.25.11)
#15. You make a good point. Israel needs Churchillian leaders. Not more Neville Chamberlain disasters. Among top Israeli leaders, Lieberman is the most Churchillian. However, there is better to be found in the likes of Feiglin or Ben Ari. Alas the best P.M. material are second tier Israeli leaders, at this point.
30. #17. People respect leaders who tell the truth.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.25.11)
#17. Basically, you're saying Lieberman is too honest to be an effective Foreign Minister. I invite you to look back in Israel's history. Before the Oslo Disaster, Israeli leaders were known for telling the truth and bluntly. In those days, Israel and her leaders were respected infinitely more than today. People respect leaders who tell the truth. People respect leaders who stand up for their nations' rights. Nobody respects the weak and appeasing.
