1. Treated well or not...
Vlad   (10.27.11)
Being arrested without trial on trumped-up allegations that everyone knows are false, just for Israel to release Egyptian prisoners and the United States to sell F-16s to Egypt is illegal extortion.
2. Can anyone tell me please...
Israeli 2   (10.27.11)
What the hell was this all about? What was he doing in Egypt? Why must Israel help him out if he is American? So he is Israeli too? Did he serve in Tzahal? Why so much ado for his release? Is this a new Israeli policy releasing Jews anywhere for Israeli hardware and exchange of prisoners?
3. he looks scary

Grapel is a New Yorker who moved to Israel following his graduation from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He joined the Israeli army, served as a paratrooper during the Second Lebanon War and was wounded in Southern Lebanon in August 2006.
6. THANKS EGYPT FOR GIVING THEM M16 and release CRIMINALS?

what CRAP you crapping? GRAPEL! 1st you moronically went to aid arab spring at Egypt for arabs who wants Egypt to break ties with Israel. Second you moronically get caught and appeal to Israel not USA, Third, after you moron "rescue", you thanks Egypt for your 5 stars HOTEL stay. without apology for the release criminals? and equiping Egypt with M16? you are not even HALF of shalit! you are just a Leftist fighting arab cause! EARN YOUR RELEALSE, EARN IT, EARN THIS!
7. Treated well ?
Dave Cannon ,   Bangor USA   (10.28.11)
He did not know from one minute to the next if he was going to be executed. What beating can compare to that psychological torture ? He also did not know if he would ever be free again.
8. "treated well in Egypt" ... ok... why did you leave?
Miron ,   USA   (10.28.11)
the day and age of total political correctness makes our former freedom phrighters sound worse than Gazeta Pravda apparatchik in worst times of the cold war. Man, our kids won't know how good we had it.

Joe ,   USA   (10.28.11)
Yes, he served in the IDF paratroopers and was even wounded during the second Lebanon war in 2006. He is a dual US-Israeli citizen in good standing in both countries. As for what he was doing in Egypt? Who knows. If he was just there out of stupidity (which is the likely senario), than he still deserved to be helped... no one deserves to sit in an Egyption prison because of youthful stupidity. Hopfully he learned something, because he is probably not going to get a second chance at being bailed out that this again.
10. I'm just glad he's home ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.28.11)
... and safe.

Michael ,   West Jerusalem   (10.28.11)
Shut up! First of he has a dual Israeli-American citizenship. So the Israeli government has a responsibility to see his condition. By your comment "So he is Israeli too? Did he serve in Tzahal?". Just shows how ignorant you are. He did serve in the I.D.F, and he fought in the lebanon war in 2006. So what do you think of him again?
12. #2 Israeli 2
Vlad   (10.28.11)
Grapel is a dual citizen of Israel and the United States. He not only served in Tzahal, but fought and was wounded in the Second Lebanon War.
13. to answer 2
yowee   (10.28.11)
yes he served in tzahal
14. #2 Israeli 2
Britsh Zionist ,   UK   (10.28.11)
Yes he did serve in Zahal and not only that was injured in the line of duty too, so in my book he is just as worthy of support as any other Israeli.
15. Yes he served I idf
db ,   Jerusalem   (10.28.11)
He was injured in Lebanon war
16. If the egyptian prison was so nice, he
jason white ,   afula, israel   (10.28.11)
should have stayed there. That way we would have 25 prisoners in our prisons where they belong and the gyps would not get additional F-16s. Thank you for helping strengthen the enemy air force. Perhaps the next Israeli arrested in egypt will cause our cowardly government to give them the whole Negev? Traveling to egypt or turkey should be banned by Israel. Let all holders of Israeli citizenship travel at their own risk.
17. Advice
Moshe ,   Netanya   (10.28.11)
Any Israeli contemplating to go to Egypt to work for Islamic revolution there must be jailed in Israel, not for life, for 7-10 years. This dude must be in jail now.
18. I hope he goes back to Egypt now
Steve from Raleigh   (10.28.11)
Becomes an angry Muslim, joins the Brotherhood and calls for the death of Israel. That way he can become the useful idiot he's always dreamed about.
19. glad they treated him well...
(10.28.11)
next time he goes somewhere that has bellicose relations with the USA and/or Israel we'll just leave him there because we now know he can manage without us!
20. Thank you for your replies
Israeli 2   (10.28.11)
#11, #12, #13 & #14. #11: YOU shut up! I don't buy your first sentence comment even if you ARE Michael. What do I think of him again? He is a creep just like you are, ignoramous. Now, answer the rest of my questions. Cannot? #14: I agree. Only in light of having served in Tzahal. That is why I asked those questions. Thanks for enlightning me.
21. grapel looks like an asshole!
dany ,   atlanta   (10.28.11)
22. You'll never know, folks
Ann ,   Canada   (10.29.11)
Who knows what, why, and how - isn't it obvious that there could have been circumstances below the surface? We're all making silly conclusions based on lack of info. Maybe he was a misguided kid messing where he shouldn't have, or was on assignment and things went wrong. But we know he's served the country in the past and shown himself a brave patriot. And he's home, with Israel/Egypt relation intact. Leave it at that.
23. Then stay there
Ted   (10.29.11)
24. can anyone tell me please
