1. I am REALLY liking Lieberman
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.31.11)
He has the guts to say what needs to be said. And the resolve to put his words into action. I'm loving it!
2. Liberman is Israel's first Foreign Minister.
Golan ,   modiin   (10.31.11)
the others explained the world's position to Israel (such as the 1950's when the US pressured Israel to give the Negev to Egypt... as an appeasement gesture.) LIberman on the other hand explains Israel's position to the world.
3. #1, I don't see any
Igor ,   Israel, T"A   (10.31.11)
actions, actually. I hear many strong words from Lieberman, and agree with him, but I have trouble to find what he really does.
4. This was a direct threat on abass and hamas ego
the mad zionist ,   sf, ny   (10.31.11)
I bet the UN condemns what Lieberman said today. But im liking the truth vs politically correct. Why does Israel always have to be.politically correct? Abass and hamas get free reign in saying anything they want and israel is always held to a different standard, a double standard.i like Lieberman cause hes reckless, and unpredictable. Much different than the predictable ho hum by the greatly political barak, always saying sorry Peres, and even netanyahu whos a.seasoned politician. Lieberman as foreign minister has been great, now we need a.defense minister with guts and little more intimidating presence than barak. From peretz to barak.as.DM, I worry for Israel. Mofaz is even way better than these 2 knuckleheads.
5. Does it bite?
Muayyad ,   Palestine   (10.31.11)
Woufff Woufff!!
6. There is ONLY Liberman
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (10.31.11)
I like Liberman. And, unfortunately, we have only Liberman in an hour of need. Bibi, Barak and all the others are frightened pipsqueak mice who equate sniveling capitulation with responsible government. Liberman is perhaps the only one who understands that the price Israel will, one day, be unable to avoid is better paid with Israel dictating events than Abbas, Hamas and Ahmadinejad's jihadists proxies including Hizbollah. They are all armed to the teeth and you can be sure they will let nothing rust.
7. Reality: "Palestine" yet another backwards Arab dictatorship
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (10.31.11)
Bah. Abbas was supposed to hold elections two years ago, and there is no sign of them happening in the future. Hamas will obviously only participate if they can win a majority - and that looks like a certainty given the incompetence and corruption that Fatah just can't seem to get rid of. So where is our "peace partner"? Fatah runs the west bank, but only because we lock up all the Hamas operatives. Gaza is not interested in peace with Israel, or even peace talks. So, we're supposed to negotiate with Abbas for a 3-state solution? (Israel, Fatahstan in the west bank and Hamastan in Gaza) The Palestinians, as usual, are doing the diplomatic dance and diverting everybody's attention away from the fact that they both refuse to negotiate with Israel, and that they couldn't sign a peace treaty if they wanted to (because they really don't, as we're finding out more every day).
8. Lieberman = Churchill, Reagan, and Thatcher all combined.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (10.31.11)
His charisma is just a little more sublime.
9. Lieberman is the most courageous leader
Oren ,   Israel   (10.31.11)
Israel has had in a very long time. Thank you for preserving our dignity and scaring the crap out of all the Israel haters once and for all. I will vote for you as Prime Minister should you decide to run.
10. Oh my the lunatics are running the asylum
Haim ,   TA   (10.31.11)
11. Haaretz may be surprised
Sidney ,   USA   (10.31.11)
They rant and rage against Netanyahu with the expection that the next prime minister will be Livni or Barak. Won't they surprised when it is Lieberman?
12. Not correct #7
David ,   San Francisco   (10.31.11)
Actually Abbas is making Israel look foolish. Abbas keeps saying that there will be negotiations when Israel accepts the basis of the 1967 borders and a full settlement freeze. Israel has done neither, yet calls for negotiations. The entire world supports the Palestinian condition on negotiations. Israel is looking idiotic for calling for negotiations, but is unwilling to fulfull their FIRST obligation under the road map! The PA has cracked down on terrorism, and very well too! First step for Israel is easy- stop your settlement expansion. The entire world sees this. Bibi and Leiberman look like fools!
13. Lieberman is right
Brod ,   USA   (10.31.11)
Lieberman is absolutely right.
14. We need Leiberman as PM!
Jayjay ,   Israel   (10.31.11)
The only politician not scared to say it how it really is!
15. the difference between a Politician & a Statesman
tiki ,   belgium   (10.31.11)
A 'politician thinks about the next elections, a 'statesman about the next generation. Lieberman, starts to profile himself as a statesman! Bravo.
16. severing ties with PA
bear ,   zefat, israel   (10.31.11)
Lieberman is NOT politically correct! He's honest and truthful, thank G-d! What do we needd peace with them for? What do we get out of it? Nothing! they have nothing to offer except trouble! Syria too!
17. #12 A fool is in the eye of the beholder
Sidney ,   USA   (10.31.11)
Negotiations are between the parties to a dispute. When one side says that it wont negotiate without advanced concessions, that side is the one preventing negotiations. As for the Quartet conditions, I must have missed something. When did God come down to Mount Sinai and give them the right to set the terms of the negotiations? You call Netanyahu and Lieberman fools, I call you a fool.
18. Lieberman has "BAYTZIM"!!!...sof.
Efroim ,   Virginia   (10.31.11)
19. to no 12
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (10.31.11)
Your facts are all untrue, to say the least...Showing your "expertise" on the subject, I wonder if you ever took a few minutes to at least find the size of Israel on the map..It looks, you had never read or even "ran" a short list of facts about the real origings & history of the so-called palestinian people...Who does Israel supposed to give land to ? To a bunch of terror groups, who murder our innocent children, sneak into our schools, restaurants, etc. with explossives to murder innocent children, women, elderly and send us rockets on daily basis, to this day ? You better make sure, that you don't look idiotic...In all the over 6 decades, Israel is striving for peace and achieved peace with other neighboring countries. But there could never be peace with terrorists, who only strive for the full destruction of Israel and innihilation of our Nation around the world...They cracked down on terrorism ? Are you kidding ? Check your news, sleepy in SF... Could you share the source of your information, david? And BTW, WE will build peaceful homes on our land as much as we want and need, david, thank you very much...Expansion ? The entire world should take a look at their own backyard and history...You are a pathetic clown, even for SF...
20. #16. Talks with P.A. offer Israel nothing but disaster.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.31.11)
#16. You hit the nail right on the head. Negotiations have only one purpose. For two, or more, parties to enhance their situation. However, talks with the P.A. can only enhance the terrorist P.A. at Israel's expense. They don't offer Israel a single good thing. Talks with the P.A. offer Israel only disaster. The goal of the talks is: 1) Divide Jerusalem. 2) Trim Israel's waist to a suicidal 9 miles (15 minutes by tank). 3) Inundate Israel with rockets and hostile Arabs. All of these goals are totally disastrous for Israel. End the ludicrous talks.
21. End talks with P.A. terrorists NOW!
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.31.11)
Once again, Lieberman is right on target. Of all Israel's terrorist enemies, the P.A. are, by far, the most dangerous. It's time to restore Israel's pre-Oslo Disaster policy of refusing to talk with those who want to destroy our sole tiny Homeland. And the P.A. shouts this fervent desire on P.A. TV, and everywhere else, every single day. End all talks with the terrorist P.A. forever.
22. What if?
Amos ,   Canada   (10.31.11)
I am totally disillusioned with Bibi. when he came into office i thought, great, someone strong, fearless. i forgot my own idiom, "beware of smooth speaking politicians" they will promise lots and deliver little (Bibi, Obama). instead he turned into a gutless leader that has created a perception of Israel as a beaten dog. you beat it and it comes back snivelling. it may bark and growl but seldom bites. Arabs understand only one thing. power and with it the fear of that power and Israel under Bibi has lost that. the only thing that Israel can do now its re-assert itself, no matter what it takes, otherwise, more of these hyenas will circle around Israel in an ever tightening circle. i long for the days of the fearless leaders like Sharon. perhaps Lieberman?
23. To #1, Sarah
Gabe ,   Canada   (10.31.11)
What took you so long dear Sarah ?
24. Defeat the PA
BH ,   Iowa   (11.01.11)
The PA is committed to your destruction.
25. That would be a nice starter but hardly enough
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.01.11)
The Arabs have violated absolutely every single provision of every treaty that they have signed. Time to announce that we have recovered our senses and Oslo is finished and that includes those war criminals that have not been arrested for their crimes because of their positions as part of the government - starting with Abbas being arrested and tried for the Munich murders that he helped in.
26. Severing ties to pa a sound option
(11.01.11)
27. To #12 Really?
JDL ,   USA   (11.01.11)
The PA cut down on terrorism but still maintains its terrorists group. Part of the agreement was to stop incitement of the masses against Israel and Jews. This has gone on unabated with the full consent of the PA. The Arabs attacked Israel repeatedly and lost, end of story. If Israel wants to build on that land, it is their choice to do so. Their on consequences when you start a war and lose.
28. So he says a "wise word & stays alive", as our local saying
tom ,   tel aviv   (11.01.11)
goes. Is anyone out there even listening & taking him seriously? In this country we have unfortunately a tradition of total lack of agreement between the PM, FM and the various party chieftains in the Knesset. Unless it comes out of PM's mouth ist's just a rant; worth as much as this posting...
29. 10. Haim - they were let out ages ago
Brian - Splitters! ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.01.11)
And they're Ma..Ma...Maa...Maaa...Mad sir!
30. More political BS
Moshe ,   US   (11.01.11)
Blah blah blah....screw the political rhetoric...your F-ing country is under attack...don't you get it? Are there only morons who run Israel? Rockets are falling just about everywhere in Israel and all the politicians can do is blab and posture! It's like the Warsaw Ghetto revisited...before Antek.
