You Israelis and Palestinians deserve each other. I've never witnessed such childishness. There is no skin off Israel's nose by the majority of the world granting the Palestinians recognition.

The decision to accord UNESCO membership to the Palestinian Authority (PA) should have been concluded with an a-priori public committment from the PA to implement UNESCO's Declaration On A Culture Of Peace And Non-Violence. Because this has not happened a strategic opportunity to strengthen the maintenance of international peace and security has been abandoned. This is a gross error of the typically crass UN. But we should also recognize that this new role for the PA inside UNESCO should mean the division between Fatah and Hamas will widen. In my view the Israeli government should welcome the PA's UNESCO membership now and do so with an explicit public call to Abbas calling his bluff on the question of A CULTURE OF PEACE AND NON-VIOLENCE. This idea should be a dominant theme in Israel's argument now and should be a weapon of choice in the struggle against the Islamic militants based in Gaza who like playing with rockets. If we Israelites do not amplify the UNESCO Declaration On A Culture Of Peace And Non-Violence as a strategic idea for the region I fear there will eventually be rockets being fired from the West Bank. Ascend to the highest moral ground.

It is really shocking to know that France voted in favour of the PA.I know that this dirty scoundrel country had played dirty with Israel by imposing an embargo on spare parts & ammunations after the Six Day War. Who had heard about the French aircraft "Mirage"? It was only Israel with the skills of our pilots & G-d's help made the French aircraft famous.

Ehai's argument deserves maybe consideration, but it fails to address the real issue, namely that all those who voted in favor of PA bear from now on an historical responsibility and obligation towards ALL present people, children and future children of the whole region, so that they can live in peace and in security side by side, starting today.
