31. hungry lawyers
Robert Makoi ,   Kirakira, Solomon Is   (11.01.11)
Aha, Hamas, Hezbollah etc are selecting suitable homes, schools, mosques to hide their fighters & guns, while women and children are encouraged to form human shields. Some money-hungry anti-Israel lawyers are waiting for Israel to retaliate using ground forces then try to take Israel to I.C.J. Richard Goldstein and BBC are you listening.
32. what are they waitng for #10
jo moor   (11.01.11)
Maybe they are waiting for the next security council meeting later in Nov only to be kicked in the teeth yet again.
33. I will agree with No.1 but spare innocent people first.
Michael ,   California, USA   (11.01.11)
The silent majority are victims in Gaza. They always are, unfortunately, but the incessant shelling of Israel must stop immediately.
34. Stop playing Mickey Mouse games with Arabs
usa   (11.01.11)
Forget Egypt, don't wait for anyone to defend against terror.
35. Nothing will happen right now.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (11.01.11)
It's all of a sudden grown deathly quiet around the Strip, but keep the portfolio open for the next time they get out of line.

37. DRAMATIC DECISION?
Israeli 2   (11.01.11)
Like building a fence and then placing Arrowhead defense bottles to defend its citizens? Or is it another limited Gaza op?
38. "rocket fire persisted but was claimed by another group"
William ,   Israel   (11.01.11)
The names change, but the terrorists remain the same. As long as this shell game of "different terrorist groups" are accepted by the West, and even by Israel, this situation will continue. We must see Gazan terrorists for what they are - one group of war criminals, working in tandem, hiding behind fake cease-fires in order to bind Israel's hands on the global platform, even to the point of making up group names that no one has heard of previously. At the end of the day, a terrorist is a terrorist,, regardless of their hair color, how large their family is, or what group they claim to be part of. They all commit war crimes and they're all violent racists. Hit 'em hard.
39. #27 - IDF just received under 500 new targets recently...
William ,   Israel   (11.01.11)
with the release of "Palestinian" terrorists from Israeli prisons. No doubt, they're already back in business.
40. Gaza Missiles
max ,   washington dc   (11.01.11)
The UN and others will not stop the bombardment of Israeli Cities and Towns from Gaza by Terrorists. Onlty the IDF can do that by disarming them and their leaders.
41. #33 - they don't sound so "silent" to me
William ,   Israel   (11.01.11)
Every time there is a celebratory parade when Israeli civilians are killed, every time Pally media turns cameras on school kids and families only to see everyone exalting the honor of killing Jewish civilians (especially kids) and calling for the destruction of Israel, every time Gazans run out and use their bodies as human shields or welcome terrorists and rockets into civilian buildings....I see a very loud statement by the gazan population. One that very openly supports Hamas and their war crimes against Israel. Only when Israel retaliates do we hear claims of the "silent majority" and "there is Hamas and there is the population". But when one speaks of pushing Hamas from Gaza or making peace only with the PA, suddenly Hamas is the "true voice of the Palestinians" and the "representative govt of the majority". Can't have it both ways, though "Palestinian" supporters often try.
42. Gilad Shalit has come home.
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.01.11)
There is no reason to allow these despicable terrorists to continue to control our lives. The time has come to turn Gaza into rubble. Teach them what is what, and reinforce the fact that Israel will NOT be trifled with. This time -- unlike the paltry and pathetic Cast Lead episode engineered by Ehud Barak -- make it count. The ersatz "Palestinians" in Gaza need to learn the hard way. Let's make it a very, very hard lesson indeed.
43. To: No. 33
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.01.11)
Too bad. If you don't like your government, get rid of it. That holds true for the so-called "innocent people" (I'm not all that sure there are any, but I will give you the benefit of the doubt) of Gaza as welll. The best way to get rid of missile fire from Gaza is to kill the individuals who fire the missiles. I don't really care who gets caught up in the shuffle. I just want the missile fire to end, and I have a VERY good idea of how to accomplish that.
44. Yes, reduce it to rubble
Joe ,   Fort Lauderdale, USA   (11.01.11)
I agree with #1
45. Talk....Who needs more talk?
froike ,   ny ny   (11.01.11)
#1 has the solution....Drop leaflets for 48 hours...then bomb the living Shiite out of them. Don't send in land troops until Gaza is totally flat!
46. Israel Should Protect Itself
Gary ,   Washington, DC USA   (11.01.11)
If Mexico or Canada started sending rockets into the USA, there would be no Mexico or Canada. They would be a waste-land, and no American would care what the international community said or thought. or who got injured or killed. Israel has an absolute right to protect its citizens and itself.
47. #38William.. Why not play the terrorists' game?
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (11.01.11)
I was going to make similar comment, but William pre-empted me.The one difference is that I think that these new terrorist groups taking credit for attacks are actually the same people as in the old groups but using a different name to draw the heat away. But it makes me think. As the IDF always receives the international criticism when they deal with terrorism from the Gaza Strip,it shouldn't claim to be involved. Next time that terrorist need to be dealt with, the IDF should do it hard and thoroughly...then deny that it was the IDf and put postings on the internet and inform the media that it was some previously unknown group with a name something like Army of Justice or Terrorists' Nemesis or something else impressive. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
48. 1 option left: SECURE BIG ISRAEL, nonviolent transfer.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (11.01.11)

Howard Hoffman ,   Palo Alto USA   (11.01.11)
I hope that the Israeli government will not be stupid enough to contemplate another ground incursion into Gaza. This would play perfectly into the hands of Hamas and the other terrorists. Instead, Israel should announce that there will be no cease fires, except for periodic unilateral ones by Israel. Then, Israel should make sure that every single projectile (mortar, rocket, bullet, etc) originating from Gaza is responded to by a single projectile. This nullifies the lack of proportionality argument, which is nonsense anyway. Gaza is at a huge strategic disadvantage and when they realize that their aggression only results in their own people's deaths, and not in such dramatic scenes, they will realize the futility of their actions. Hamas must be the party that enforces the peace in Gaza as they rule the territory.
50. Gaza=governance by chaos. Nobody is in charge
Harry Wright ,   UK   (11.01.11)
Every man to himself and every terrorist group can do what it wants. Hamas is just a petty crime boss, seizing goods that enter Gaza, selling it for a profit, taxing those who use the tunnels and killing whoever they want. The executive strut around in jacket and tie and pretend that they are in charge. They cannot even exercise one ounce of control over the numerous other terrorists clubs. An outside country (Egypt) has to intervene and get all the clubs together to come up with some kind of agreement because Hamas CANNOT do it. Total chaos reigns at the administrative level. Which club will Abbas reconcile with, because NOBODY is in charge? Then the UN wants to give the crazy Pals a terrorist state. Are they ready for it???? Their mad culture is quite acceptable to those countries that voted to accept them in UNESCO. They were voted in on the basis of: firing rockets on innocent civilians, detonating suicide vests in population centers, kidnapping and holding for ransom, working to destroy another country, educating and grooming their children to perpetuate their mad culture, revising history and destroying artifacts. This is the sick society that is considered a worthy candidate for membership in UNESCO. Well that says a lot about the members who voted in favour.
51. #47 - thought about that
William ,   Israel   (11.01.11)
the first result will be world condemnation that a sovereign nation cannot control their population and actually has splinter groups inside its borders. This will cause govts to issue travel bans to Israel and possibly lower its shining rating as a safe, stable place to do business. Plus, the anti-semitic UN would make the claim that Israel is really supporting such a splinter group which would leave the door open to sanctions. However, a "one-off" incident would not bring much global response, like - oh I don't know - a couple shaped-charges placed on three high-tension line towers bringing electricity into Gaza....for instance. Gazan loses power for weeks while Israel works to repair the system, Gazans and UNWRA scream but can't really blame Israel, and the Gazans get a stern but non-violent message.
52. What Would The Egyptians Do?
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (11.01.11)
One must wonder how the Egyptians would react if a terror state on its borders started firing rockets at its cities. Chances are they would turn it into a parking lot in 30 minutes without hesitation or thought for loss of life.
53. #46. Maybe under previous presidents, but not this one!
Harry Wright ,   UK   (11.01.11)
54. #43, All of your ideas are devoid civilized values.

avramele   (11.01.11)
From their havens in brooklyn their internet fantasy land and points west the armchair lieberman's look for all out war. Lieberman, whose core constituency openly discourage their kids from combat units; haredim who refuse to fight but are good at throwing garbage; hilltop thugs who are psychological rejects from the IDF. yes, we must also prepare for peace but also pray that diplomacy and peace can be reached.
56. Terrorists and their cycle of violence
Brod ,   USA   (11.01.11)
