1. ATTACK ON IRAN
MOHSON   (11.02.11)
barak would never attack iran even if iran attacked israel. He was against osiraq, against syrian nuclear hit, against removing haniyeh and zohar, against cast lead. he generally hits empty buildings. He apologizes to turkey for signing off on paintball guns after idf commando are attacked with pickaxes and machetes. One should not walk into gaza city tunnels and play hamas games. No one country can win such a battle. Analyze, make a plan, soften it up, make it inert if possible with additives, use human shields and that is a must when fighting arabs since the population is in on it and then attack usinig asymmetrics. barak is done with fighting, absolutely done.Bibi shoiuld have replaced him long ago. However, since barak in his best days was the CO over bibi, he holds sway over him. Bibi doesn't look at this atrocious record since. That he is playing media right now may not all be bad. Beside, atilla, the advocate of livni, olmert's cowardly twin wrote the article so you can take it with a pinch of salt.
2. I would agree
Nissim ,   NYC   (11.02.11)
The only thing Israel hasn't done is send Iran an Outlook calendar invite for when the attacks will happen. When Osirak was taken out it was under complete shroud of secrecy. All other key hits have been quiet too (Mughniyeh, Stuxnet). Iran on the other hand has been a cause celebre in the media domestically and internationally. It's a circus. I wondered this AM if it was a sign of the times (e.g., mass media, social media, etc), but there's still secrecy and some ounce of demure in the way things are done. This is a complete aberration. Why? Who stands to benefit? I can't believe the recklessness of this government: Netanyahu, Lieberman, Barak - it's insane!
3. Well - ? -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (11.02.11)
If Barak was sincere in his support of the attack, the official asserted, he wouldn't be briefing reporters or "generating spin" over the sensitive subject. - this debate has been going on for a Decade, surely the DM has not spinned sensitiviness into the Matter. This is the most ever foretold and predictably War ever. Arn.Sweden.
4. Barak is playing Bibi's game .. but do
AARON ,   CANADA   (11.02.11)
Israelis realize the extent of the danger in this Bibi war-on-Iran game? Do Israelis understand the magnitude of destruction this will bring upon them and their state? What price Israel is prepared to pay for Bibi and his father complex? The bgining of the End ? its so scary. Send Bibi to his shrink.
5. A core nomination
Gideon Reader   (11.02.11)
Ehud Barak. Nominate him for the Putz Peretz/Ivri Award for pubic service in the role of a short defensive minister. I also nominate him for the Olmert Golden Pen award for "Selfless Self Service, and the Perez "Never Ending Meddeling Citation and the Livni "If it's Bibi's, I hate it" Star.
6. Barak's role in this government : Fig leaf for Netenyahu.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (11.02.11)
7. Everything Barak does harms state security.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.02.11)
Since Barak left active service in the IDF, virtually everything he has done, and does, harms state security. Barak tried to divide Jerusalem at Oslo. He tried to trim Israel's waist to a suicidal 9 miles. More recently, he wanted to arm P.A. terrorists in preparation for the fictional Palestine statehood bid! There is nothing new in Barak harming state security.
8. TELLS US SOMETHING WE DID'T KNOW
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (11.02.11)
Since he is the minister of defense, I don't think he has done anything related to our security. But for sure he is a tough guy when it comes to tearing down homes in the middle of the night, of the same citizens he is supposed to serve and protect. The word civil servant does not mean a thing to our dear friend and master E Bark.
9.  BARAK SHOULD GO REPAIR
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (11.02.11)
Broken wristwatches. He is a waste of space as Minister of Empty Threats.
10. Barak compromises state security
A ,   Belgium   (11.02.11)
every day that he is allowed to "play" defense minister. With danger surrounding Israel, this overblown marsmallow should not be allowed to hold ANY government office related to the defense of Israel. If anything, maybe they could give him ministry of botany or cement making. Israel needs a REAL defense minister and fast!
11. Barak compomised state security.
Elsie ,   Gush Halav   (11.02.11)
In whose name does Barak start a war?? just by his talking to everyone he puts the state of Israel in danger.
12. This article makes no sense
Ber ,   Yahud   (11.02.11)
I agree that Barack is useless, but why does he need Iran to prove that he is useful. There's Hamas and hezbollah, and 1000 other enemies. Anyways war with Iran is a dish best served on Israeli terms, so why wait til they have nukes, and why worry. It will be now or later, and blood will be spilt either way. The only question is how much.
13. Abusing the system by ex generals
Avram Goldsmith ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.02.11)
All political system is base on ex generals which don't know how to run a state afair still Israel beeing in such a complex situation need politician with broad vision , diplomatic skills and ONEST ( Aba Eban) in order not to put all their falls on defence theme.
14. Keep it away from the public
Brod ,   USA   (11.02.11)
This is a subject that should be kept top secret. Whoever leaks such information should be relieved of his duties. Leaking information is only helping the enemy.
15. Barack's a blithering idiot!
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (11.02.11)
16. 1 option left: SECURE BIG ISRAEL, nonviolent transfer.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (11.02.11)
17. Even with the Iranian issue he has no businees
David   (11.02.11)
in the goverement and he knows that. The Americans lost all trust in him and he knows in the elections he gets nothing so he goes wild, but there is no reason for concern, he is harmless.
18. Does Ehud Barak have the right to exist?
Teacher Tony   (11.03.11)
Discuss. For extra credit: How can we ensure Ehud Barak stays in London?
19. Tactic?
R ,   Israel   (11.03.11)
By putting attack on the public agenda, perhaps Barak intends to convince Iran that we won't attack, thus paving the way for a surprise attack. Who knows. Note to self: Stock up on bottled water, canned goods, flashlight batteries and valium.
20. barak would even be an incompetent dog catcher. woof.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.03.11)
21. The sooner elections, the sooner Barak is gone
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (11.03.11)
Nobody has any doubt that Barak and his tiny party of splitters from Labor will not be reelected.
22. Despair
Joe Asfoor ,   Burke, USA   (11.03.11)
I despair seeing how fragmented, disoriented, clanish ,unprofessional the political body in Israel has become. There are so many small groupings pulling each in their own direction, that thye national sense of direction is lost. Quo Vadis,Israel?
23. he wants to retire. who is next up
clearer light ,   cape cross   (11.03.11)
24. Nr 19. Tactic - Could bee !!!.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (11.03.11)
